Netflix Doc on 2024 SEC Season

Got Episode 1 on right now...Shane Beamer and Les Miles Brian Kelly were featured. Huge focus on Virginia Tech (Frank even makes a cameo), how Shane is trying to climb out of his dad's shadow and no longer be known as "Frank's son".

Leads me to believe that even if him and Whit were on good terms, VT was not a school he wanted take a HC job.

Shane has definitely given off that impression in the past. Makes complete sense.

Why is Les Miles in a documentary about the 2024 SEC season?

"That move was slicker than a peeled onion in a bowl of snot." -Mike Burnop

It was Brian Kelly that was featured, not Les Miles.

Did it mention that Brian Kelly killed a kid?

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

I wonder if Shane would consider coming to us in a few years if things continue to flounder here and we need someone to legitimately shake things up.

At that point he's already established himself as a legitimate coach. Him coming back would be to save the program he played for.

Money talks.

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

Yes it does. And John Swofford et. al. Made certain that no acc team would ever have enough to compete

Jimbo was the canary in the coal mine in retrospect.

hindsight is 20/20

I still think he wanted out because he knew how terrible his oline was going to be.

Whit would have to be gone. Don't think there's a lot of good feelings behind closed doors between the Beamers and Babcock for how 2015 went down.

Yeah I mean if Pry doesn't work out I don't know how Whit keeps his job.

The sequence of events to me (if Pry can't turn it around) would have to be Whit and VT mutually parting ways (fired), new AD search begins, new AD hired, Pry fired, new AD hires new coach. And we haven't seen anything to suggest Whit is leaving. AD searches take time too. At this point, if this season is a flop, we are basically being forced into a lame duck final contract year with Pry just given the timing.

if/when Whit leaves you won't see rumors, it will just happen. It's not like coaches who are floundering and everyone can see it coming. The university president would just make a decision and perhaps call an urgent BOV meeting. Not something that you see coming from miles away.

Pry has 3 years left as he signed a 6 year deal. So if he is fired after seasons 4 then he has 2 years

Ah you're right - thought it was a five-year deal. So much riding on this season, not just for Pry but the future of our football program and athletic department honestly.

Yes... keep mentioning how VT has ties to the SEC .... muwahahaha

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.
