Can VT claim a national title in any year?

So Auburn just claimed 7 national titles, including the 2004 season where we couldn't complete the Sugar Bowl comeback. I have looked back before and feel like there were two undefeated seasons way back when, but not sure if Tech was recognized by any authority anywhere as national champs. Any history buffs know if we have a claim anywhere? If so, make the claim Whit!

2000 Peter Warrick ineligible player...boom!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

We won the 1991 Formula SAE championship. Auto racing is a sport, right?

we went undefeated in 1954

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

I have said it before, we should absolutely follow the SEC model and just claim it.

This is why I am asking. Just claim them. hang the banners or years in the stadium and nobody even argues anymore.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

How in the hell did we tie W&M 7-7, and beat VMI 46-9 when W&M lost to VMI that year 0-21?

Hokie Gobbler football was wild in '54

We did lose to Boise and JMU and then swept the ACC pretty recently. Or if you go the other direction, you can just bring up every year we lose to Syracuse yet win other games.

What is your definition of "recent"??

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Not 1954 lol

don't care. I'm with Alum on this. Banner first, ask questions later. We gotta start doing some internal aura farming or whatever the kids say

Agreed. We should also claim 2007 because Sagarin has VT as the number 1 team after conference championships (bowl games don't matter remember). We didn't get the chance to win the national championship so we should just claim it.

We won the NIT which is A national title

Twice

In 1918 VT went 7-0-0

We ABSOLUTELY should go the SEC route and claim a Natty for that season.

Put it on the Wiki page.

The first Natty?

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Oh, but it was during a war and we had the advantage because we were a military school.

So was f-ing Army.

We allowed less than 2 points per game and 1 of those 2 touchdowns allowed was against men already in the military.

We also never trailed going into the 4th quarter.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Dominant team, dominant season.

Hang the damn banner. If UCF can claim a natty, so can we!

sounds like an elite nationally powerful team to me

Ugh. Can't we just buy a good coach and team in a non-revenue sport and win one in the current century?

The men's golf team could use a complete overhaul. Absolutely abysmal last year. I nominate them

Here lies It's a Stroman Jersey I Swear, surpassed in life by no one because he intercepted it.

Bring Johnson Wagner in. He has connections and has to be able to recruit!

Plenty of room for the Wagner Golf and Mustache Facility over by Oak Lane, Airport, Vet-Med, etc. Take your pick of location

Would be pissing money away. Even if we had the best training facilities in the country, we would still struggle to pull in good talent, because of the weather in Blacksburg. The best players are going to go to schools where the weather is nice year round.

And that was a direct quote to me from a high school coach of one of the best development programs in the country.

And yet.... The finals were UVA OkSt last year. Two places where I wouldnt say are year round golf weather

OK st does have in the alum listing:
Rickie Fowler, Viktor Hovland, Matt Wolff, Charles Howell II, Talor Gooch, Bob Tway, Hunter Mahan, Scott Verplank, to name a few from the school that has produced the most PGA players, in general.

This- hire OK states coach and be done with it. We will win a natty in mens golf evenetually

This sounds like a job for black light indoor mini-golf

I do art stuff.

That's only partly true and many top golfers come from europe and scandinavia- they don't mind the "cold"

We shouldn't have needed a comeback against Auburn. I still have nightmares of me yelling at Frank to kick the FG at the end of the 1st drive and watching Jesse Allen completely whiff on the catch in the end zone on 4th down.

He did it again and again.
