Louisville out here looking like trash against JMU. 27 yards of offense in the first quarter.
What else are you watching this weekend?
Keeping my eye on Illinois at Duke
Feels too early to have Iowa/Iowa State but here we are
Michigan at Oklahoma is only ranked game so guess we see how that goes.

Woof...JMU punted with couple minutes left in half. Punt went about 35 yards down field but then bounced back almost 30 yards giving Loserville the ball in JMU territory
Wow Loserville just looks list on offense
Lucky to get to the half 7-6
It's getting increasingly more frustrating watching teams like JMU have relative success with rotating coaching staffs while VT can't seem to get out of its own way.
Especially after listening to announcers talk about JMU's offensive line and Louisville coaches questioning if the Cards defensive line were big enough to compete tonight.
Their success isn't an accident. JMU has an athletic department that is competently led & organized, and is in lock-step alignment with an admin that's serious about winning football games.
Meanwhile Babcock delivers a 10-years-too-late presentation to a BOV who seem somewhat shocked that we are behind our ACC peers in funding, as though this is the first they're hearing of it. We are dealing with a staggering level of incompetence, disconnect, and complacency at every level of decision making here.
It's so beyond time to kick each and every dinosaur responsible for this complacency out into the cold wind of the New River Valley.
This. And I know many of the people who make this happen at JMU. I watch them walk in unison. I watch them raise money. I watch the alumni base and community rally behind continuity.
I think JMU has a couple advantages. One, is they have a bit of history at the lower level that many long time fans remember and appreciate. I don't know the exact percentage, but much of the student body is from the Northeast, NOVA or the 757. That is a small footprint. Additionally, many graduates stay somewhat regional for the first stop on their career pursuits (many opting to work in the DC area from the School of Business). Every single person involved understands what you stated - It takes unified steps with a long term vision to make this happen; it takes a commitment to making the next step (whatever that is) that is right in front of you (JMU has done this for the better part of 2 decades), and it takes an understanding that success on the football field directly impacts enrollment.
The only thing that is lagging a bit is that only now are the men, remember it used to be a women's only university, who graduated some 40+ years ago at an age, or passing away, putting big $$ into that program. If VT isn't careful, JMU might have the opportunity to make some significant strides over VT as it relates to athletics.
They already have a huge advantage thanks to the laws surrounding Student Fees to Athletics. They aren't held to the same law that applies to Tech and UVA. Student Athletic Fees as of last year at JMU were $2362 a year or almost $10K per student in a 4 year degree. That's $49.6M a year from Athletic Fees based on just undergraduate enrollment.
You're right. Another distinct advantage.
That loophole MUST be closed. Our public schools have to be allowed to operate like the private ones
It's also a lot less money to be competitive at FCS then be a G5. With our money we'd have easily done the same. To take the leap to competing for playoffs is a much more difficult task.
They showed the whole review process but will only happen on Friday Night ACC games. Wish they did it more. It wasn't as good as XFL version but still a step in right direction.
This should be available for every single game. All of us would have loved to listen in for our game vs. Miami last year.
Exactly what I was thinking when they did it....where was this last year
JMU with the most bone headed strip sack TD allowed I have seen in a long time.
Ouch that 4th down pass by JMU QB looked like a Drones throw. Should have been a walk in TD to tie the game.
We play"Louavul" at home on Nov 1. We need to watch out for Isaac Brown. Dude is fast!
Yeah David Wilson track speed fast
This game is eerily like watching our game last week. Really close defensive first half. Second half a couple big hit plays for Loserville while JMU offense shot itself in the foot multiple times
Gameday is unwatchable with Pat talking so much.
I like him occasionally. I just wish it was less pro wrestling.
Hell now Big noon kickoff has Portnoy on it. Can't we just leave these frat boys in the dustbin?
The overlap in Venn diagram of people who (a) like barstool/bar stool adjacent shows, (b) watch college football and (c) are people advertisers want to attract is pretty big
which is pretty amazing when you consider alot of fans have college educations
and I want to punch all of them in the face. I haven't watched any College Gameday programming in my adult life. I've said for a few years now that the thing that is eventually going to put me off of sports for good is other sports fans
Loved him as a player, loathe him as a talking head
UVa having a well oiled offense just pisses me off about our own inability to ever figure it out.
The levels of incompetency in Blacksburg is off the charts
Is NC State bad, or is UVA not terrible? They are up 14-7 early in the game
I think its a bit of both.
Neither of these teams look like they have very good Defenses.
A mix of both. NC State didn't look stellar against ECU. Morris at QB for UVA has been pretty steady at around 65% completion at the other 3 schools he went to and is in his 6th year. NC State has a weak secondary too.
NC State isn't as good as some years past, probably similar to their team last year.
UVA is competitive, like they may go 6-6 and fold against big teams, but they're definitely a threat to teams like us who could be between 4 and 8 wins.
UVA defense is just as soft. This one will be a shoot out or who makes the fewest big mistakes on offense.
Dook pulling a VT and doing all they can to lose it. Lots of dropped passes, 2 in the end zone. Two fumbles also. Their run defense looks good though.
That stadium is so empty.
and a 2 of the same number penalty. Pry showing his national influence😂
Watching the Penn State game and they are not looking like the #2 team in the country. Defense is playing fine, but their OL is going to get killed by any B1G team with a pulse if they play like this going forward
Wow! LOLUVA's D is horrid. Drones may get his first TD pass when we play them.
Women all over the Commonwealth have said so
Oh man Duke just keeps shooting themselves in the foot.
30 yard gain erased by a really dumb fumble at the end of the play.
Syracuse looks awful. Crazy the difference a season has made there
Wow gutsy call by NC State to maybe seal the game. Going on 4th and 1 at their own 28 yard line.
Jack Tyler is the DC at East Texas A&M...who are currently getting worked by FSU 70-3.
Not great Jack!
LOLUVa
Ooops, they did it again.
Haha LOLUVA blows it for third time in red zone
Great game with NCST and uva.
My son was at the game and his gf wanted to leave at halftime so they did. He was texting me that he was kicking himself for leaving.
Doesn't State let you go back if you exit at halftime?
Probably but they went to her apartment with her friends and were watching it on TV.
Plus it's not on campus like Tech.
On one hand, asking to leave a game early is cause for questioning the relationship.
On the other, he knows how things work.
Ha. Yeah I was telling my brother and said "she's obviously not marriage material."
My high school girlfriend went LOLUVA I went up there one weekend she was like hey want to go to a football game. Sure, they were playing FSU, 20 minutes before we walk down from her dorm. You know what I'd rather just stay in and hangout with my suite mates is that ok?
Meh, which is more important? UVa football or a college girlfriend?
I think we all know the real answer to that one, unless they're playing VT that day.
That really was a good game. Fun to watch and loving the end result. Now it's Clemson and that looks like a game to watch.
LOLUVA again
Syracuse might escape UConn. Just squeaked ahead.
Welp headed to OT
Escape effected
Baylor just tied SMU with 34 seconds to go. Probably going to OT
To OT we go, SMU missed a game winning 57 yard FG with time expiring.
And blew it
That OT missed FG was bad, I get the end of regulation one. SMU needs a new kicker.
Frosty enjoyed it a great deal.
Duke is gonna win this year's award for lowest return on NIL investments
They were playing the #11 team in the country but ridiculous how empty that stadium was
Is Illinois really that good? They are still middle of the pack at best in the BigTen, and a historic bottom dweller/opposing team stat padder
hey now, anyone can have a bad century. Just look at the Cubs.
Ole Miss' QB is really struggling. Wildly inaccurate, looks totally rattled and picked off twice in the first quarter at Kentucky.
ACC doing ACC things today, barely getting by a UConn program that hasn't been relevant since Dan Orlavsky, and a ranked team losing to an unranked opponent. Can't wait to see how we top it in the 2nd half of the day.
Clemson trailing TROY after the 1st quarter....woof
Pick 6 for Troy to go up 16!
Getting ugly...just no energy from Clemson so far
Wipe a TD off the board now to boot. Costs them 4 points
Reciever catching it with his knee on the ground is a thing of beauty
Every time I watch a game on ESPN+ I am shocked that it is still possible to broadcast at this low a resolution
Hold my beer
-cw/raycom
CW is better quality that maybe 25% of regular ESPN games
UF not looking great against USF.
USF looked really good against Boise State so not that surprised
👀 this is getting crazy. Long TD pass when entire UF defense is looking at sideline, snap goes past punter into end zone for Safety.
If the other team runs out of bounds, please don't make it worse with a late hit. Yes, the refs will definitely notice.
West Virginia down by 7 and driving throws the pick on 4th down. Ohio stays ahead of the cousins.
Sorry I'm late. We are at the NJ shore for our annual weekend after Labor Day shore trip. Obligatory for me:
Cyclones!
UVa and WV losing.
If VT can join Iowa State can both win, will be a good weekend for me.
Rich Rod losing with shitty O line play to O-Hi-O is glorious
UVa lost.
Clemson finally woke up and Troy helping by doing dumb things
USF is in FG range with under 1 mins remaining and down by 1. Would be a huge upset over Florida.
Go Bulls.
And the did it!!!
USF pulls off the upset. Gators doing the surrender python.
#sadgators
USF has the chance to do the funniest thing, let's see them go 3 for 3 ranked opponents!
Not sure where else to put this, did I miss something with DC? I haven't seen a comment from him in quite some time and I figured he'd have a lot to say after the last 7 days
It's my head canon that after that one really bad run by Sellers last week where we had him dead to rights 4 times and whiffed all 4 with each missed tackle worse than the one before, DC got up, turned off the TV, burned all his VT gear, and canceled his subscription, cussing under his breath about eligibility, Tech having no national championships, and the Baller Industrial Complex the whole time.
Until he returns, that is.
Postgame edit: and after that piss poor effort, I might join him.
