Whit Babcock is worthless and John Ballein washes his balls so he can continually haunt this athletic department. It doesn't matter if we get the 200 million. We are broken beyond belief.

I'm willing to give him more than 2 games, only 1 of which was bad. I mean, it's not like he has a lot of talent to work with. But I have been one of the people who was cutting Pry more slack than most. Not anymore. He should be gone after tonight. Won't be. But should.

let's not forget he is mostly working with transfers from sam houston, ecu, hampton, texas st, new mexico, rice, eastern michigan, georgia southern, north dakota st, and temple. combine that with what pry has recruited, which, as we know, has been much less than impressive...and really, what did we expect?

And Drones couldn't keep the offense on the field for even the length of a commercial break. Even if Siefkes has adjustments he doesn't have time to get them into the heads of utterly exhausted players.

Pry ain't it bros. This is the VT football program right now and I don't think anything is going to change anytime soon. Our leadership is reactionary and bureaucratically slow. Until there is complete turnover in the administration we're going to continue circling the drain. IIWII

Pry is just a loser. And not in the 5th grade insult sense of the word. He is a true loser. Seems like a great guy. I wish it was going to work. But the guy is a bonafide loser.

1. Pry is a good coach until it's time to play the game. He has zero feel for what's going on in the game. 4th and 6 inches punt was the obvious wrong call despite being in our own territory. We hadn't stopped them in 1.5 quarters. That was game.
2. Drones needs to sit. He's not accurate and not quick enough to make scramble plays outside of runs up the middle.
3. Anyone who shit on Bowen last year/this year is an idiot. That dude made this offense hum at times and not having him is a massive problem.
4. It's time to shake it up at VT and make a play for SEC or Big10 invite or we will be a leftover program. Hire Mike Vick and dump the bag into NIL. Become relevant or watch the university dwindle on all fronts.

Something clicks and his drive to win just goes away. He was trucking defenders in the first half. 2nd half he ran away and threw the ball away on a 3rd and 23.....
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
He cannot handle any amount of adversity. It's a huge problem and the entire team feeds off of it. He has to realize the he is THE QB1 and his role is more than handoff and throw.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The one that was completely inexcusable for me was when the game was still somewhat close, we had 4th and 10 deep in our own territory and he throws a 4 yard out pattern in blanket coverage. That has no hope of being successful, you're better off throwing deep and praying for a miracle.

Bowen is currently the run game coordinator for the best team in the country. He was far and away the best coach on our team last season and the main reason we weren't the worst team in the ACC.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, you're right. With their near unlimited budget, the defending champions hired an incompetent turd as their O-Line coach and running game coordinator.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I get that Whit "sounded the alarm" with his (10 years or more too late) presentation to the BOV, but how can you honestly listen to him say "we just need a lot more money" and trust that guy to actually make this program work? He just hired two dud football coaches, and Pry is somehow even far worse of an actual coach than even Fu. He just has no clue what he's doing. If we ramp our budget up with Whit running the show, it will be the same result just with even more wasted money.
Fire Whit and Pry Monday, Sands. If you're truly serious about this, it's time for action. This is unacceptable.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah on that note, are we all finally in agreement that just paying coaches more money doesn't make them better coaches? Because Whit blew a pile doing just that
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sorry to say but you're a sucker if you're donating more money to this program. The people managing your money don't know what they're doing with it. No wonder fans aren't increasing their investment after 15 years of negative returns.
With each passing year, as we're left further and further in the dust, it becomes more and more evident how badly we squandered our fundraising opportunity in the 2000s. Now we want to swallow our pride and ask for money — after getting swept in home & homes with Rutgers, Purdue, and Vanderbilt, a who's who of P5 bottom feeders. We were too bashful to ask for money as an annual national championship contender beating the shit out of teams like Texas, LSU, and Miami, but now that we've regressed to the Northwestern of the ACC, it's time to fundraise.

I'm with you. I've really tried to look at the positives and been an advocate for giving Pry the time needed to turn this around because I really like the guy. But it's just not happening.
I've spent a lot of money going to the first two games, but I'm kinda done.
Unless he goes 10-2 this year, Pry has to go.

Anything remotely sniffing success from Pry & Co this year will just be selling our souls of one year of success for 3 years of failure. Bad, bad investment.

I can't watch the game on TV so turn on the radio stream - VT 10 points, Vanderbilt 37 points

I'm not trying to be doom and gloom, but this program is done. I don't see a path to recover and then build back up to an ACC contender.
We are going to slide even further and become a 2-10 and no more than 4 wins per season for a long time. This is what our program has become.
It's so sad. I'm heartbroken. I'm bummed. This is the first time that I am sincerely not going to watch them play next weekend. I will wait for the result and only watch if we win. Otherwise, I will do something else.

With the way college football is, this does feel like the end of VT football. The hole is too big, we are too far behind. It's done. Beamer was the flash, like Nebraska. It's over, we will be a 6 win peak team from here on out.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
We look like a 2 win team. Again getting in the record books for all the wrong reasons. This is as bad as I have felt watching a VT game since 2019 Duke.

I'm being entirely serious about this - they obviously Flex us out of that broadcast position next Saturday, right? There's absolutely no way VT vs. ODU gets that timeslot after tonight?

That choice was DEEPLY unpopular among the attendees in the president's box. Should I mention it's Legacy Society weekend and many of the biggest donors VT has were there?

we did...didn't even try to get a review of the spot...looked to me like Seldon (iirc) might have made it on 3rd down.
Pry's decision making in real time is awful. But Garrett's injury and failure by the coordinators to make any kind of adjustment on either side of the ball sealed our fate
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Even the broadcasters were calling for an adjustment to our wide set edge rushers. They just exploited that gap in the run game all day. I'm assuming we were supposed to have a linebacker there to fill that gap but Jayden Keller must have some relation to Helen cause I have no idea what he was seeing all game.

I'm sad Frank has to watch everything he built here burn down. At least he has USC and Shane to root for. VT Football will never recover and is doomed to a similar fate as Nebraska (only without the historical Championships and Big Ten money to give them a fighting chance).

The full quote is, "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb". This original proverb suggests that bonds formed through shared experiences, commitment, and chosen relationships are stronger than genetic ties of family, directly contradicting the modern interpretation of "blood is thicker than water"

I'm not going to feel sorry for Frank. He did great things for VT, but honestly he was part of the problem and helped lead us to where we are now. Complacent, stagnant, and stayed on too long at the end. He never adjusted, and then holdover guys like Ballein staying on and trying to influence doing things like the old days constantly. It's a problem.
The Beamers have moved on, but VT just can't. It's time to rip the bandaid off and go soul searching for this program.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
100%. Shane and SC are so overrated. They've got some talent at spots but they will be exposed as the SEC schedule starts. I'm just so done with the segment of our fan base who fawns for Shane. And he wants VT to think he was too good for us. He and his dad were complicit in our downfall and riding the whole program down, and are going to act like they're too good for us now. I'm over them TBH.

Simple. They made adjustments. You didn't. Your team got punched in the mouth and quit on you. Plain as day to see. Vote of no confidence in you from your team and the fans with the stands emptying like that.

Left our VRBO in maine at 9:30 this morning thinking I'd be home to watch. Rolled in at 11 pm after an awful drive back and found a nice coating of standing water on the bathroom floor in our apartment with maintenance promising to look at it tomorrow.
Looking at the box score, my day somehow wound up better off. I'm basically just entirely detached from and disinterested in this program at this point
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yea, last night was the first time I've felt disinterested. I've never turned off a game before it ended before. I don't leave stands early. It's not because I'm a hardcore or out of obligation... I just recognize that we only get 12 games per year, and I want to watch as many as possible.
Well, yesterday was the first time I wanted the clock to move faster so we could get out out of misery.

If a genie granted me control of VT athletics at midnight tonight, at 12:01 AM the first thing I would do is take Sandman away indefinitely, until it is earned.
This team, this program, this administration, this athletic department, and this staff, does not deserve that entrance.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That's dumb. The entrance is the only thing that keeps us relevant. It gets us TV eyeballs. It gets us mentioned. It makes us somewhat attractive to other coaching candidates. Don't throw it away.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm not suggesting getting rid of it. I'm suggesting temporarily withholding it until this program earns it back.
I know that it gets eyes on us. I think that's part of the problem. All we are to anyone is a fucking run-out routine. I'm tired of having eyes on us for Sandman, only for us to lay rotten fucking eggs in Lane - completely negating the atmosphere of intimidation that Sandman represents in the first place.
We used to call this place the Terrordome and it used to mean something. Sandman used to mean something. Now it's a liability. It's an embarrassment.
Imagine what it would be like if the team had to fight to earn the right to run out to it. Imagine how electric it would be when it finally came back, as an entrance for a team and a program worthy of it.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I don't think we'd earn it for the next 4+ years. It's just punishing the fans. That said we're making it into a mockery and this continued on field performance will certainly make it tarnished
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sandman is one of the only reasons Students come to games any more. You think it's going to be easier to build a program when there's no fans in the seats?
Sandman gets us TV eyes, which directly corresponds to TV revenue now. You think it's going to be easier to build a program with less money?
Imagine what it would be like if the team had to fight to earn the right to run out to it. Imagine how electric it would be when it finally came back, as an entrance for a team and a program worthy of it.
I imagine that players want money. I imagine that better players want more money than mid players. I imagine the same rule holds true for coaches. I think we need money to hire better coaches and attract better players.
Sandman is for the fans, not the players.

We are relevant enough to get mentioned on gameday for 5 minutes this weekend... due to enter sandman. Unlike UVA, Purdue, Northwestern, Wake, UConn, etc.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm fine with Enter Sandman, but we need to drop the lunch pail until we earn it back. Our defense couldn't force a punt all game against a high school offense with one player qualified to play P4 football, yet we trot a toy prop out there every game like it means anything.
It's laughable. The defense (and team as a whole) fold under the slightest hint of adversity. Absolutely nothing resembling blue collar grit and attitude it's supposed to represent. We'd be better suited with a Paw Patrol thermos kit from Target.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Honestly, as much as it pains me to say, and assuming whoever the next coach is does not have a connection to the Beamer years, it may be time to retire the lunch pail altogether. It's not going to resonate with kids these days like it used to where you spend 4 or 5 years in the program seeing the captains get to carry it and what it represents to the area.
Build Bud a statue next to Frank and incorporate the lunch pail for us to tell our kids about when we go back. We haven't been the LPD for 9 or 10 years at this point.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
In the day and age of the turnover chain, belt, robe, throne, backpack...the lunch pail is antiquated. And we play in that manner. It's not 2003 any more. Heck, half the rosters weren't even born then. Let's put a new spin on things and stop playing like the lunch pail connects with the players. If you want to nominate a captain, put a lunch pail patch on their jersey and go tackle someone.

I'm gonna be honest fellas. Hard to admit, but it's true.
I sat down and had a good cry a few minutes ago.
I was 7 when I went to my first home game. Parents took me to the top of east stands to sit, and it felt like the highest place I'd ever been. I'm from Frank's hometown. He graduated HS with my grandpa. Frank is the only person who's ever made much of himself from there, except Miss America 1979.
I was 9 when Vick and the '99 season happened. I even got to meet him when my family went out to eat at Ryan's in Christiansburg and he happened to be there eating. To me he was like a living superhero. Never seen a more electric athlete. When we lost the natty I was heartbroken, but it was okay because Vick was coming back next year and we'll get another shot.
When that didn't happen, I was heartbroken, but it was okay because Frank and Bud are still here and the program is really rolling now.
We never did get back, but it was okay because we dominate the ACC now, and any day now fate will break in our favor.
Tyrod showed up and it felt like we were closer than we had been in years. And then Matt Ryan came to town with BC in '07. I was really wet, and really cold, but it was okay... we've still got a great roster and we still have Frank and Bud.
The years rolled on, and we never got back to where we were. Frank was starting to show his age, and it was clear that it was time for change. I was heartbroken but it was okay, we still have Bud.
2016 was a glimmer of hope after a difficult few years. Clemson still won in the end, but it was okay - we've got a new coach and we still have Bud.
2018 came and things under the new coach weren't looking so good, and at long last, Bud left. But it was okay, because .... I'm starting to run short on hope, but it was going to be okay, because this is Virginia Tech.
Then Pry came, and it felt like hope because of all the warm familiar feelings he brought of the old days and the old ways. The first season was really rough, but it was okay, because we gotta start somewhere to get back to the top.
Tonight, I think my well ran dry. It feels like a death that I'm grieving. I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel anymore. College football in the modern era feels like a big party is going on in every other house on the street, and I and the team I love simply are not invited. And to make the pain worse, it seems like some unexpected others are. Vanderbilt. Duke. JMU. Indiana. Opponents that (it feels like) not that long ago, would have been easy stepping stones on our schedule.
The podcasts, the media sphere around college football, social media, the national consciousness.... none of this stuff that existed when we were great. And they don't remember that we were great. We are less than irrelevant at this point. Only we remember it... those of us who were here for it. And the memory feels more and more distant by the year. I've forgotten what it feels like to win and be a winning program.
And tonight I think I let the last shred of hope that we would ever climb out this hole, slip away.
It's never gonna happen for us, is it?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I wouldn't say never, but probably not any time soon. Well said, hope kept getting kicked in the mouth and now I'm out of teeth.
I checked out after the Boise loss for a couple of weeks. I checked out a couple of games into Fuente's last season. Always came back. Tough to feel like there's a path back this time. I'd almost prefer they stop trying to entice us back and just admit they don't care that we're dogshit. It'd be easier to not care at all.

They got a three way guy named Koi, who is actually a reincarnated fish. It's how he can play safety, wide receiver and return kicks and punts. Secret gills help him maintain high oxygen levels.
To bring the mood back down to vent thread levels, they scored more points in the 1st quarter yesterday than we have in 2 games. They had backups in with 10 min to go in the 2nd quarter. Brent Pry could never

Well shit, now you made me sit down and have a good cry....
I've been following this program since before you were born and have been an eternal optimist full of hope for the glory of yesteryear. Not even the glory of championships, but just feeling good after a game and a season. Just to be relevant in the CFB universe.
My well also ran dry Saturday night.
I pondered this revelation during my 14-hour drive back to Florida yesterday. Yes, I'm the guy who drove to VA (while my wife flew) in order to bring all of our tailgating gear - used to love tailgating as much as the game. But now, it's the tailgating that brings me joy. Hell, should've stayed in the parking lot Saturday! I can set up a canopy, tables of fancy food, and a cooler of cold ones at the beach and have a great day without the drive, time, and expense that gets rewarded with a kick in the teeth (well, teeth might be too kind).
The optimist in me still believes the well can be recharged, but not without wholesale changes. Those have to start now.
There is zero evidence that anything can be done to salvage this season. Let's not prolong the agony and completely lose what's left of the fan base. If changes will be made at the end of the season anyway - make them now.

Lol, I even bought some of Bud Foster's WIN-brand cigars and WIN-brand vodka this weekend. Smoking one of the cigars while tailgating apparently did not help the cause.
Didn't previously know these existed until TSL hyped them on a podcast. My first thought was, "hey, Bud is becoming a businessman - good for him"! My thinking now is, "sorry Bud, pretty shitty timing - might want to rethink that branding".

For me the biggest WTF moment in this game happened in the 1st quarter: Brent Pry turned down a penalty that would have made it like 2nd and 25 and chose to keep 3rd and 9. Vandy converts it for a first down and is gashing us across the field until the Quentin Reddish interception...Pry was so lucky to get bailed out that way

Turned the game off at halftime to go to dinner with my wife and celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Haven't had a chance to read all these comments yet. We looked pretty good in the first half so assuming the LMAO is because we beat the brakes off Vandy in the second half

I'm not going to read the comments. I'm not going to vent either because it's stressful and it doesn't help any one.
What I will say is I'm making a point to avoid watching anything live, and set expectations upfront that we probably win a single game this year. I'm a lot more stable mentally because of my approach.

Glad we agreed to a uneven revenue share. We are about to find out how much you can't do with less than everyone. Glad we are still playing by 90's CFB rules that Beamer used that don't matter anymore.
I'm not sure I plan on watching anymore this season. Glad I didn't spend any money on season tickets this year. I have no idea how to fix the situation but doing the same thing that got us here is the absolute definition of insanity.
We are so far away from the height of VT football that nobody playing today remembers those days. Until we actually win a meaningful game against a P2 football team we will never be seen as a good football program again. We are poop and I doubt we have an entrance to talk about anymore. The fans kept us in some conversations with the entrance but I don't see that happening the rest of the season after that absolute shit show of a 2nd half.

I understand not having as much talent as teams that have a bigger budget.
I don't get having a poorly coached team. JMU and USF manage to field well coached football teams with much less money and no significant conference affiliation.

I may just stick to high school football for the rest of the year. My reigning state champ BHS Indians are 2-0 and on a 16 game winning streak. Way more fun to watch than what I witnessed last night.

LOL, turned the game off at half time to catch up on some sleep. Told my wife it was gonna be a rough 2nd b.c Vandy had them figured out by the end of the 2nd quarter -- they can't stop the run on D, and can't complete a pass when blitzed. They're gonna get crushed and I don't want to watch the rest.

You should probably send an email to Pry, as he still doesn't seem to have figured out that formula, which seems spot on and stayed uncorrected through the second half.

If its not too late and french actually intends to go through this game film (bless your soul). Can we just have a montage of "what the f were you doing" defensive moments? Something to bring some levity and humor to this situation.
maybe we should have a GIFtory equivalent for loses so we can make fun of ourselves.
On second thought they can be offensive too just remembering Pop running directly into the arms of only defender within 20 yards of him who was being blocked

That to me told me EVERYTHING we needed to see on him...bring on Rangel or Brand. Could not believe he ran right into that. A yard in either direction and he goes for 30+ yards.

Baffling for sure. With Drone's second half performance, taking sacks, not throwing the ball away, etc. then Pop comes in and runs right into the lone defender, it honestly looked like they were throwing the game on purpose

Can we sell the football program?
For what? $2?
Deal.
Always a leg for a "Better Off Dead" reference !!!
I much prefer Better Off Ted
We will be 1-5 in our last 6 games. If not for UVA, we would be, at best, the 4th best team in the state.
UVA beats us this year.
It's not unlikely...
I like the new vent thread!
Fire everyone
This. Im done. Time to clean house. The BOV, AD, ream out our legislators. We r fucked
Why stop at the state? Let's fire our president and hire Nick Saban instead
Great 2nd half adjustments this year!
So if brent pry is such a "VT guy" he should give back the buyout money
Truly, if I was him, I would resign and be too embarrassed to take any more money. And no, I am not exaggerating here. I'd have many millions already. I would not have the guts to keep taking money if I sucked this bad.
That was one of the most pathetic efforts I've ever seen from a VT team. Program is a laughingstock, zero chance B1G or SEC takes us in.
Big 12 here we come.
LOLUVA is retired. It's all LMAOVT now.
Whit Babcock is worthless and John Ballein washes his balls so he can continually haunt this athletic department. It doesn't matter if we get the 200 million. We are broken beyond belief.
I'm starting to think Siefkis might not work out. 27 straight points. Can we make it 34?
I'm willing to give him more than 2 games, only 1 of which was bad. I mean, it's not like he has a lot of talent to work with. But I have been one of the people who was cutting Pry more slack than most. Not anymore. He should be gone after tonight. Won't be. But should.

Solid chuckle after a long day yesterday. Leg.
Who coaches the rest of the season when Pry is let go?
Get Bud back from retirement and give him the HC job. He should have gotten it over Fuente to begin with.
No he should not have especially with hindsight and he shouldn't get the HC job now. The man almost died during a game.
Bud was never the answer for HC.
Then again, neither was Fuente. We just didn't know it at the time.
We all love Bud, but this is the problem. We have to move on from the past if we want to remain competitive in today's CFB.
I saw a head coach on one sideline and he had no hair and wasn't in maroon. Find a guy like that, is it really that hard?!
Yes. Most coaching hires are busts
Does it matter? Lou Holtz's corpse could do a better job (I know he's not dead)
I'd take Don Knotts from Gus over Pry right now.
I'd take Gus over him at this point.
Based on the coverage of Belechick, we could probably get some good program buzz going from hiring Lou Holtz's corpse.
or to make things really interesting and entertaining...rex ryan!
or Lee Corso
Price is 1-0
Yep...J.C. is the choice here.
At least the players would likely play hard for him.
When a team quits like this you cannot keep the coach
Wasn't he the coach in the bowl game, to go 1-1? Pry was hired, but not on the sidelines.
Who cares? Not Pry would be an improvement by default.
I mean, it's Montgomery, right? He has experience. Try and keep the ship from going completely off the rails.
mixing metaphors - a clear sign that the fanbase is completely discombobulated by the sad state of affairs

On 2. Drones was fine. Until he wasn't then he's a mental case and just quits.
Agreed. From a mental standpoint, he is charmin soft buddy.
Something clicks and his drive to win just goes away. He was trucking defenders in the first half. 2nd half he ran away and threw the ball away on a 3rd and 23.....
He cannot handle any amount of adversity. It's a huge problem and the entire team feeds off of it. He has to realize the he is THE QB1 and his role is more than handoff and throw.
Ehh, he was the least smelly turd at the sewage plant.
Credit him for having the foresight to jump off a sinking ship and take a job that is nearly fail-proof but he wasn't a great O.C.
His ass gameplan helped lose the Vandy game last year.
Then, later in the year, when both Drones and Tuten were hurt, he forgot Jalen Lane was on the team.
Truth is, no one Pry had hired has been good. The only coach who has shown any on-field results is J.C. who was already on Staff
Yeah, you're right. With their near unlimited budget, the defending champions hired an incompetent turd as their O-Line coach and running game coordinator.
He's a good recruiter and they have a huge Staff who can actually teach technique.
I cannot bring myself to celebrate a guy who's 2022 Offense was the worst at VT for 60+ years.
He was okay..but experienced DC's handled him.
"Money pleeeeeease. I'll use it wisely, just trust me bros"
Yeah on that note, are we all finally in agreement that just paying coaches more money doesn't make them better coaches? Because Whit blew a pile doing just that
The big part of the reason we need a lot more money is because he's hired two complete dud football head coaches in a row.
People donate to winning programs period.
Whit is part of the problem and definitely not the solution
Whit isn't part of the problem. Whit is the fucking problem
All true.
Its way too late to start fundraising now. This needed to happen years ago.
Like when the "Drive for 25" was inching along far too long, somebody needed to notice something was seriously wrong.
Now the Program is quite honestly near the absolute bottom of the P4 and raising a serious money is going to be hugely difficult.
The only financial hope this program has is an alum who cares about football becoming a tech billionaire.
I'm still trying to hit that powerball..
Counter point: I've seen a lot of people say that his message rings empty if VT were to win 8+ games this year on our 'shoestring' budget.
At least now you can say you need the money to fire pry.
We might not beat ODU
Will the spread be more than a TD? Will be be dogs? It's just so bad.
At this point, bring it. 0-Fer is preferable than limping along so Whit gets to stick around longer.
Honestly. Tank. Leave these mealy mouthed fencesitters no choice but to do what they must
I won't be watching to know!
Can't wait to listen to the post game. "You know, we just have to coach better." I've heard that way too many times.
I mean...... WTF happened? How do we collapse that bad?
those turnovers were deceiving. i don't think they punted the whole game. you can't rely on turnovers to end their possessions
Damn.... I was hoping this coaching staff was it. I'm truly sad to see this.
Insert the GIF here of the kid from Super Troopers saying "Please no!"
Anything remotely sniffing success from Pry & Co this year will just be selling our souls of one year of success for 3 years of failure. Bad, bad investment.
Im embarrassed I have season tickets. Im embarrassed I ever thought this team could win a game. This team doesn't deserve a a sell out crowd. They haven't for 10 years.
I think Jerry Kill has a personal vendetta against VT and honestly, I can't blame him.
I think I hate that guy. He definitely has our number, and we won't be successful until we beat him like the tin drum he is.
Maybe it's my fault:
I can watch the game on TV - VT 10 points, Vanderbilt 7 points
I can't watch the game on TV so turn on the radio stream - VT 10 points, Vanderbilt 37 points
Your punishment is that you now have to watch every game on tv the rest of the season
The ironic thing is that the path is more straight forward than ever before: just increase giving.
Yes, there is only one way to go when you have hit rock bottom. It's times to rip the band-aid off this entire AD.
We look like a 2 win team. Again getting in the record books for all the wrong reasons. This is as bad as I have felt watching a VT game since 2019 Duke.
How does every other "peer" we have in the acc find ways to actually look not awful
We have the lowest budget and get what we pay for
Is it possible to fire Pry tonight?
Possible? Yes. Likely? Nah.
I'm embarrassed. This is a predictable offense snd a soft defense
I'm being entirely serious about this - they obviously Flex us out of that broadcast position next Saturday, right? There's absolutely no way VT vs. ODU gets that timeslot after tonight?
I don't think they can change the kick time after it's been announced, and we are the only 7pm kickoff.
The crazy thing looking at next week's schedule is USF (who will be ranked) @ Miami is playing on the CW. ESPN really missed that one.
I hear this Siefkes guy is some sort of defensive guru.
Real football guy. Half the NFL teams talk wonders about him.
/SSS
Can't squeeze lemonade out of a shit sandwich.
Virginia Tech has become everything that our fan base mocks UVA for being.
Just went outside and took down all my VT shit. Shoved it in the closet. I will be writing an email tomorrow. Do I send it to Whit or Sands?
State legislator to clean house top to bottom
Sands. Whit shouldn't have a job at Virginia tech.
I missed the 3rd qtr. I hear we punted on 4th a 6 inches. What? We have no faith on our offense for THAT? Fire them all! BS!
To be fair, I have no faith in this offense... but id also have gone for it after watching our defense
That choice was DEEPLY unpopular among the attendees in the president's box. Should I mention it's Legacy Society weekend and many of the biggest donors VT has were there?
It was the turning point in the game and we said it would be at the bar when it happened. Cowardly playcall to show you were coaching scared.
And predictably Vandy pushed our shit in from that moment forward.
we did...didn't even try to get a review of the spot...looked to me like Seldon (iirc) might have made it on 3rd down.
Pry's decision making in real time is awful. But Garrett's injury and failure by the coordinators to make any kind of adjustment on either side of the ball sealed our fate
Wish I could double upvote for Helen Keller reference
I'm sad Frank has to watch everything he built here burn down. At least he has USC and Shane to root for. VT Football will never recover and is doomed to a similar fate as Nebraska (only without the historical Championships and Big Ten money to give them a fighting chance).
Frank has moved on. Blood is thicker than water.
Totally agree. That's a way better way to spend his retirement. But you know he's aware of what's going on Blacksburg.
The full quote is, "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb". This original proverb suggests that bonds formed through shared experiences, commitment, and chosen relationships are stronger than genetic ties of family, directly contradicting the modern interpretation of "blood is thicker than water"
So it means the opposite?
Wow. Like most things these days.
Frank's legacy lives on in a Top 10 program in South Carolina. They don't give a shit about us anymore.
South Carolina is not a top 10 program. But the rest is sadly true.
I would rather be them than us right now.
I was about to say, they are exactly where we used to be. Top 10 ranked team that everyone thought was overrated and couldn't beat anyone great?
Yeah I would love to get back to that level. Right now we can't even beat anyone mediocre
Yeah, I miss being that. Definitely better than what we have now.
Yeah I would love to get back to that level. Right now we can't even beat anyone mediocre
Mediocre? We can't beat a week old pile of crusty dog shit.
shane is an absolute embarrassment the way he acts sometimes
frank or snyder: the best to do it without a natty
we have to move on. momma vs son, he (understandably) chose son. its still our momma, don't forget
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
Maybe it protects his legacy. No one except him can win at VT. Maybe Frank could've won multiple natties at Texas.
When we were up 3, and it was vandy ball, 3rd and 12 (only cause of penalties), I thought to myself, "TD coming"
We are so fucking soft, and so fucking terrible its laughable
On the post game presser. His response to being asked about why they were so much more successful in the second half. "I don't know, really."
Simple. They made adjustments. You didn't. Your team got punched in the mouth and quit on you. Plain as day to see. Vote of no confidence in you from your team and the fans with the stands emptying like that.
Id fire him based on that alone. No self awareness.
Ended his post game with "We just want to find the guys that played that first half." Whit, Ballein, and Pry are members of the taliban.
That's it??
It's Year 4...if you haven't figured out how to scout and motivate players, it's not happening. It's not magic, they don't fall from trees.
Pry could save everyone time and just be honest that he's fucking clueless.
I'm almost there. I'm debating between detaching, or hate watching
Yea, last night was the first time I've felt disinterested. I've never turned off a game before it ended before. I don't leave stands early. It's not because I'm a hardcore or out of obligation... I just recognize that we only get 12 games per year, and I want to watch as many as possible.
Well, yesterday was the first time I wanted the clock to move faster so we could get out out of misery.
...and that's when Pry decided to use all his timeouts for once. Forced us to stew in the clown show and watch Vandy fans chanting in our Duke like empty stadium.
If a genie granted me control of VT athletics at midnight tonight, at 12:01 AM the first thing I would do is take Sandman away indefinitely, until it is earned.
This team, this program, this administration, this athletic department, and this staff, does not deserve that entrance.
This right here. Drop Sandman. It's embarrassing that a heavy metal song is our only calling card at this point.
That's dumb. The entrance is the only thing that keeps us relevant. It gets us TV eyeballs. It gets us mentioned. It makes us somewhat attractive to other coaching candidates. Don't throw it away.
I don't think we'd earn it for the next 4+ years. It's just punishing the fans. That said we're making it into a mockery and this continued on field performance will certainly make it tarnished
Sandman is one of the only reasons Students come to games any more. You think it's going to be easier to build a program when there's no fans in the seats?
Sandman gets us TV eyes, which directly corresponds to TV revenue now. You think it's going to be easier to build a program with less money?
I imagine that players want money. I imagine that better players want more money than mid players. I imagine the same rule holds true for coaches. I think we need money to hire better coaches and attract better players.
Sandman is for the fans, not the players.
#WeAreNotRelevant
We are relevant enough to get mentioned on gameday for 5 minutes this weekend... due to enter sandman. Unlike UVA, Purdue, Northwestern, Wake, UConn, etc.
I don't know that I feel good about our relevancy on GameDay essentially being "the program is washed, but hey the entrance is still pretty cool".
Better than nothing
I'm fine with Enter Sandman, but we need to drop the lunch pail until we earn it back. Our defense couldn't force a punt all game against a high school offense with one player qualified to play P4 football, yet we trot a toy prop out there every game like it means anything.
It's laughable. The defense (and team as a whole) fold under the slightest hint of adversity. Absolutely nothing resembling blue collar grit and attitude it's supposed to represent. We'd be better suited with a Paw Patrol thermos kit from Target.
I think they do need to retire the lunch pail until they earn it, and then they need to vote it back in if they want it.
At a minimum, though, nobody should get it when your ass gets beaten like a drum in the fourth quarter like it did last week.
More like a lunch paper bag given that second half performance...a la the early years in Tampa Bay Bucs...

I wouldn't say never, but probably not any time soon. Well said, hope kept getting kicked in the mouth and now I'm out of teeth.
I checked out after the Boise loss for a couple of weeks. I checked out a couple of games into Fuente's last season. Always came back. Tough to feel like there's a path back this time. I'd almost prefer they stop trying to entice us back and just admit they don't care that we're dogshit. It'd be easier to not care at all.
My kid started at Minnesota this year. Maybe I'll just live vicariously through her. Follow an athletic department that gives a damn.
Does Minnesota have players, though?
They got a three way guy named Koi, who is actually a reincarnated fish. It's how he can play safety, wide receiver and return kicks and punts. Secret gills help him maintain high oxygen levels.
To bring the mood back down to vent thread levels, they scored more points in the 1st quarter yesterday than we have in 2 games. They had backups in with 10 min to go in the 2nd quarter. Brent Pry could never
My kid started at Minnesota this year. Maybe I'll just live vicariously through her. Follow an athletic department that gives a damn.
Mine went to UF so sometimes that works out for me...and then sometimes it doesn't. Last night wife and daughter shit-canned Napier a couple of hours before I shit-canned Pry.
I'm only a year younger than you, and this puts it better than I ever could. A big party and we're not invited. Worst of all? It's our own fault.
It's also Disney's fault, but VT's admin and AD made just about every possible mistake along the way.
Someone buy some really good cigars and reward JC Price with one after every win!
Vandy converts it for a first down and is gashing us across the field until the Quentin Reddish interception...Pry was so lucky to get bailed out that way
It was a fitting ending having Vanderbilt fans do the SEC chant in Lane. What a great way to end things.
On the bright side, I did get a chance to play my first round at The River Course before the game. That was fun for the both first and second halves.
Turned the game off at halftime to go to dinner with my wife and celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Haven't had a chance to read all these comments yet. We looked pretty good in the first half so assuming the LMAO is because we beat the brakes off Vandy in the second half
Oh my sweet summer child
Well the scar Vandy game should be interesting next week
We're playing for the #1 pick, aren't we?!
Underrated comment...
Can someone explain to me why we stopped having any short throw options in the route trees when our OL was collapsing?
Drones wouldn't see them anyway or would miss the throw 4 out of 5
Would be rocketed at the ground or five yards over their head
He tried the 5 ft overhead but got bailed out by a one handed catch.
He missed Gosnell by 5 ft high on the first drive for a huge gain
the only highlight from the second half, the Greene catch was sick
