Looks like we're losing another one per 247. He showed flashes but spent a lot of time injured. Below is his quote:
"Dear Virginia Tech, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. To Coach Pry, thank you for giving me an opportunity. To my teammates who became my brothers, thank you for the countless memories that I will cherish long after my time in Blacksburg. I gave every ounce to this program because of how much I loved Virginia Tech and Blacksburg — it will always be Home. To the community, thank you for embracing me in every way and helping me grow and develop into the man I am today both on and off the field. After much thought and prayer, I will be red shirting and entering my name into the Transfer Portal with 2 years of eligibility left."

Thank you for your service, Tucker! Best of luck in your next stop.
Not gonna lie, this one surprises me a bit. He just seemed like a Hokie through and through.
Can't say I blame him though. The receiver room is pretty crowded without a ton of separation, and the next 8 games might be pretty rough.
Just because he's portalling doesn't mean he's not "a Hokie through and through."
Individuals' goals have to be aligned with those of the organization(s) that they are a part of. Unlike other orgs, Halloway can't wait his turn indefinitely; he'll lose his eligibility eventually. He can still love everything about Virginia Tech, but recognize that he has at most one more year to play football, and he wants to take advantage of that. No shame in that.
Good points. Regardless of where he ends up, taking a redshirt this year is probably a good call for the reasons above. And as DFW says below, he can always come back if he likes the new coach/offense.
Turns out his hand that he broke in summer has been causing problems so likely was going to be shut down anyway for possible surgery and it appears this will be his medical redshirt this year.
Can always come back if he likes the new coaching hires, but don't blame him if he has a redshirt to burn with 2 years of eligibility. For the ones without a red shirt one would hope they treat it like a contract year for a pro player and do their best to ball out and get good stuff on tape.
He technically used his redshirt last season but am sure he will petition NCAA to change it to a medical redshirt, then apply the redshirt tag to this season and have two years of eligibility remaining.
That said, Punt returning was his biggest role and most of those get negated by Skippy's Holding or Block in the Back Crew.
*insert stereotypical dcwilson rant here*
that man is certifiably insane (not DC)
Ah the real reason he is leaving, the NCAA would never grant that to a hokie
That said, Punt returning was his biggest role and most of those get negated by Skippy's Holding or Block in the Back Crew.
Or Pry having 7 players on the field at the same time with the same jersey number.
Stu Holt shouldn't avoid blame here
Yeah Stu is who I was calling Skippy because he bounces like a bunny on the sideline rather than running like most normal humans.
Hey now....don't besmirch the good name of Skippy... some of us are 'normal'....well ok maybe not-I am rather 'unique'/'different'/'eccentric'/'weird'(pick your adjective)... /s sorta
The lady that cut my hair in high school used to say, "My only goal in life is to have enough money that people call me eccentric, instead of weird."
usually you get called eccentric if you're wealthy...occasionally if you're elderly...
ah, the birth of a new TKPmeme
I'll never upvote an Alex Jones meme.
We need a similar gif that's not that red faced glove box. I don't even want to look at him.
Edit: found a less seasonally limited one
Perfect. I could use that gif in a lot of situations.
Somewhere there is a Cookie Monster meme with my name on it...
The one where he is in front of the vegetables yelling something like 'what the hell is this crap?' comes to mind for me.
Can't blame him. The only players getting consistent targets from Drones are the RBs
Tea here is that Holloway wanted to seek a medical redshirt. His position coach did not agree, so that was the end of that.
We'll see if he sticks around for the next staff. Great guy that loves VT.
Interesting that we would be against a medical redshirt
I'm not saying that the rumor is true, or that I believe it but if it is it smells of cheap pettiness. His position coach must know that he's out of a job after this season. If he can't have Holloway then nobody can. There's no good reason to deny a kid a medical redshirt other than "If you're not going to play for me, you're not going to play here"
The only thing I can think of is if it was pre-season and he was borderline on being healthy or not and they wanted him to play this season knowing it was a do or die year. If he is truly hurt and needs surgery now it doesn't really make sense why they wouldnt' support that
