So my high school checking in on the latest Wrestling commit.
Maximus Fortier commits from University High in Morgantown, WV. He will be Class of 27 alongside Melvin Miller. He went 19-1 last season with 14 pins at 157 lbs. Likely would be either 157 or 165 here.

With these recent commits, are we getting closer to being a natty contender in the next few years?
That's a reeeeeally steep hill to climb, so probably not, but we're getting closer to Top 5 or Top 3, I think.
We'll be closer than we've been on paper...the gap between the top 3-4 programs and the ROYs is pretty significant in wrestling though. 2025 Penn State had returning national qualifiers at like every weight class with top 5 wrestlers in 8 weight classes. That's really really hard to beat.
To add: Penn St has broken the team point record each of the past 2 years. All 10 of their wrestlers finished as AA last year - all within the top 6; 8 within the top 3; and 2 champs....they're pretty much as talented this year.
The good news: We signed the #4 class this year and by the looks of it will be continuing or beating that over the next 2 cycles if everything stays on track.
...but if we hire their (former) football coach...and get the top recruits....
Fortier won the WV Division 2 State Title at 175 lbs to help my Alma mater win its third straight WV team title.
