Hokies beat the Puppies handily to advance in the Wrestle Back bracket.
Nininger upsetting Arrington in final seconds tipped the Dual
True freshman Nininger knocks off Arrington! pic.twitter.com/bWADf9JeB3β The Wrestling Room (Pat Mineo) (@MrPatMineo) November 16, 2025
They will face #13 Illinois. They have locked up at least $30K in NIL. $20k for at least an 8th place finish and $10K Team Takedown bonus against Wyoming.
Honestly, today went better than I expected with Henson redshirting and so many Freshman wrestling.

Let's Go!
Hokies!
Was there any reason as to why Penn State is the only team in the top 16 not to put anybody in this tournament?
They opted out. Its a team event. They decided they didnt need to risk injury for the NIL return.

Do these matches count towards the wrestling season records and rankings? If so, this seems like a great early season test with some prize money to boot. If not, the prize doesn't seem so big
It will definitely be accounted for in Rankings. Not as sure about Duals records.
I fully expect Burton to go from unranked to between 11-15 after this one. He is taking out big names.

I think the Tech Fall was the deciding factor.
Flo just said Hokies won on tiebreakers....team still hasn't posted anything
Yeah Flo has changed it now. Lose 1-0 in Tech Falls
It is usually matches won, falls and then total points.
EDIT:
Tiebreaker 1 is Matches won which would have been 5-5
Tiebreaker 2 was bonus points from falls (0-0)
Tiebreaker 3 is total match points where Illinois won 69-68
