You stay classy, Kentucky.
Guess it's true what they say, stereotypes are there for a reason.
Who decides which couches to light on fire? Do people just say "Fuck it, I don't have to have a couch at home anymore" and then donate it to the masses? Or is there like a graveyard of couches waiting to be lit?
We should probably consult the cousins on this topic....
or....
After copious amounts of bourbon, you are liable to burn most anything, and from anywhere.
Also, what makes it worse is that the whole time they're going to get a truck to get the couch, loading the couch, getting some gas and a lighter, transporting the couch, unloading the couch, dousing it in gas and starting the lighter, not once did anyone in that entire situation think, "maybe we shouldn't light up a couch. Maybe we could do literally anything else and it'd be a better way to express our frustration with losing a college basketball game."
Way to many steps there. Most of these folks just threw the couch off a balcony, dragged it to a dumpster, threw it in and lit it up.
But that requires using your brain! And thinking! Sports fans don't do those things!
hey...wait a minute..I'm a sports fan!! >:(
I would LOVE to find one of these for my WVU brother in law. LMAO!
UPDATE: Showed this to the Bro in Law and he went crazy. Wants one really bad.
Said he would lit it up for every game. LOL
Setting the mood for when you have a cousin over for the evening?
A shame.
And I wouldn't expect this from them. I've been to Lexington and it's a rather nice city. But at the same time, sports fans....
Imagine what they'll do if these Calipari to the Lakers rumors turn out to be true.
They might set fire to all the lakes
This is a thing that happens everywhere and with most major championship victories/losses. Im fairly certain there would be couches burned if Tech won a championship
Kentucky lost...
Thats why I said it happens with most major championship victories AND losses. I was in Pittsburgh when the Steelers lost SB45 and there were couches burned that night, even though they lost.
Its just an excuse for people to be dumb.
I was also in Blacksburg when we beat Duke in 2011, and there was an ottoman set on fire at the Village so our fanbase has some crazy people too.
I don't think we'd do anything that would draw comparisons with that school in Morgantown. That's a scare factor by itself.
A couch was burned in the cul-de-sac at Pheasant Run after we beat Wake Forest as the #1 in 2009. I was not involved but saw the box spring as i caught the bus the next morning.
College kids are gonna college.
Haha I wasn't actually involved with that but I know who was. Let me just say those guys could drink.
Center St apts burned one when we lost in Morgantown in 2003
They had to block off Main Street downtown after we beat Miami in 2003. I remember people climbing the street lights - but no fires.
For some reason, I have this vague memory of police on horses - I dont think that happened though.
Is it common practice to assess the severity of a riot by the number of couches burned?
Handy WVU riot chart
Just replace 'yrds' with 'Cousins' and keep handy after any WVU games:
Is this from an edition of "Know Your Upholstery", a popular program on Morgantown TV stations?
I thought this was in the freshman handbook, and its a chart of what you burn based on the distance of the scoring plays of the most recent game.
I was in Lexington last night watching the game. UK fans handled the loss very well and with class. Everyone I saw walking home from the bars last night was well behaved despite their sadness.
Every fanbase has a couple idiot crazies that ruin the reputation for the rest. UK is no different. They have a HUGE basketball fanbase so there are a few more idiots thrown in there because of sheer numbers.
Having many, many experiences with both UK and WVU fans, its without question who is the worst. WVU and its not even close.
No offense but 17 couches burned requires more than just a couple idiot crazies.
Only if you assume a ratio of couch to couch burner of 1:1.
Just thought some first hand experience would be appreciated.
Does this seem backwards to anyone? OMG COUCHES WERE BURNED EVERYWHERE LAST NIGHT!!!!
....oh and someone got hit by a train
With a trident
and it was Awesome
