The 5-0 Ladies travel to Harrisonburg today to take on the 3-3 James Madison Dukes. The game will be on ESPN+.
This game may be a little more competitive than the first five. ESPN only gives us 71.4% chance to win.
The Dukes Have wins at home vs Kent St., Queen(NC) and Liberty. They have home losses to George Mason and Villanova and they got blown away at Texas.
The Dukes are led by #00 Peyton McDaniel 6'0" R.Sr G who averages 20ppg. #5 Ashanti Barnes 6'2" Gr F averages 13ppg. #11 Bree Robinson 5'8" Jr G averages 10. The other two starters are #21 Zakiya Strephenson 5'4" Jr G and #22 Grace McDonough 6'2" Fr F who average 7 and 4 ppg. There are five more players who average more than 10 min per game.
In their most recent game, JMU lost to Texas on the road 95-56; but they won the battle on the boards 37-35. The Hokies will need to stay aggressive on the boards in this one. The Dukes do not seem to be a foul-prone team; maybe because they play son many players, the fouls get distributed. They commit 15.8 TOs per game to 11.7 Assists. They shoot 39.1% overall, 25% from three and only 69.8% on Free Throws. They average 5 made 3 point shots per game. McDaniel is the primary threat from three taking over twice as many shots as the next highest player. But Stephenson makes a higher percentage 38.9% to 26.2%.; #2 Marshall is also a threat off the bench making 36.8% on about 3 attempts per game.
We should learn a little more about the Women's team today. Can they go on the road and play well against a decent team? They need to take the Dukes seriously and play smart basketball. Sloppy passes, forced shots and lazy rebounding could cost us a game. But the more likely scenario is that strong defense and team play bring home an easy win.

URI is actually a pretty good WBB team. But I am kind of glad I missed our game.
