Is 'Stick It In' Back for Real this Time?

A buddy of mine that was at the game sent me this. I missed it on the live broadcast. Are we actually back this time?

That is outstanding!!

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Heard it a couple times on the broadcast!

I made that comment about Franklin demanding Stick It In come back as a joke, but apparently we are committing to do this thing right on a foundational level

Edit: also, kudos to whoever passed down the tribal knowledge to even have the band and crowd be able to make this work. It isn't like Stick It In has been in rotation in the streaming era of football so far as I am aware.

Edit2: words and such

I do art stuff.

They've done it once or twice since it was banned and they never skip a beat. It's definitely been something the Marching Virginians have passed down for the day it makes its glorious return.

I remember it being played at the 6 OT game against UNC. I think that's the only other time I recall hearing it in the last 10-15 years. It was awesome hearing it on Saturday.

The knowledge was hidden, but never forgotten. Even, in the dark years, you could donate like $100 to the drumline when they were going around to the tailgates for Hokies for the Hungary and they'd play Stick It In for you. No idea who in the admin gave the greenlight again, but it's great to see us bring back the right traditions!

"Hokie religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Han Solo

I can corroborate this story

I was a VTDL member and we'd played it for donation of less than $100

When I was an MV, most of the donations were more... liquid

I do art stuff.

That too

"Hokie religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Han Solo

But, did we in fact, stick it I!?!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

Not enough

Well, all you have to do is break the plane!!!!!!!!!!!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

What, like this? ;^)

"Yes I am going to have favorites. My favorites are high production and low maintenance players, coaches, and staff." - JMFF

Well played my grammar friend.

Life is good.

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

Im no VTGuitarMan but I do have some #sauces in the MVs. Evidently athletics gave the band approval to play Stick It In a few weeks ago, but remains to be seen if it's a long term thing.

Go Hokies!

Tell your sauce it better be a long term thing

(add if applicable) /s

Thats what the band wants, but I think athletics is seeing what kind of fallout there is from the cheer making an appearance again.

Go Hokies!

We are getting in bidding wars for athletes, we sell alcohol at the game, every other commercial is for gambling, the announcers talk about players like they're pieces of meat, and there are women small outfits doing athletic moves which make their skirts flip up on the sidelines and good plays earn you a spanking on the ass. In what fucking world is cheering for players to score using a double entendre an issue? People need to get the fuck over themselves.

EDIT: oh yeah for a game that promotes running into some one as hard as you can while wearing a suit of armor so that you can hit them harder. And at the time it was banned you could still attempt to take some ones head off without penalty.

don't forget all the HIMS ads!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

Not on the ACCN... we're stuck with multiple brands trying to sell us portable tire pumps.

Accn has given me A LOT of blue chew ads

Danny is always open

Fallout? If anything there's gonna be fallin, amirite?

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

I saw no pelvic thrusts in the video, so it should be okay, right?

Right?

"Yes I am going to have favorites. My favorites are high production and low maintenance players, coaches, and staff." - JMFF

That's probably why it didn't work. The more excessive the thrusting, the higher chance for TD's. It's well established science.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

While they were never written down i still know all our high schools cadences as we played them so much they are ingrained, I'm sure its not hard to find some one that knows this liek it is imprinted in their DNA.

To the boomer who demanded that it be banned: you can kiss my entire ass.

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

Wasn't a boomer, it was an overly sensitive female millennial.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Story we heard in the HTs when it was banned was that some West Stand alums got their deep-pocket under-whatnots in knots about the dance being "inappropriate" for college students to be doing and that shut it down.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

This was the rumbling I heard in the MVs while we were still doing it in the lead up to it going away

I do art stuff.

Good news is that the now deep pocketed west stand alums were in the east stands having fun last time stick it in was allowed. Maybe the deep pockets are now bringing it back.

Doctor, I concur!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

I am in the west stands and we never stopped chanting it regardless of if the band was playing.

The tyranny and the bullshits gone on too long. You old fuckin' shrivs who blocked it's legalization... YOU'RE BANISHED FROM THE LAND!!!

It was awesome to hear in the stands. I had to be gray haired historian for people around me that either didn't remember it or had never heard it (damned gen Zrs).

To the MV folks - are there any guidelines as to when we play it? It seemed to be a little earlier than I recalled field position wise.

I told him I’d crawl on my hands and knees to be the DL coach at Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, I’m sitting in this chair and I told him I’d still crawl on my hands and knees to work here. I just want to be here.

Stick it in is for the redzone

Or, as ESPN has decided to call it in the last few years, the "red area" (Jeebus I hate that so much)

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

that's what I'm talking about. Some real tradition being maintained

Organizational alignment means organizational alignment

Keep it for the betterment of football!

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

That's not the "Stick it in" cheer we used to do back in the 70's.

Ours started with "We've got their legs spread, Hokies"...

Ahh, yeah that one I can understand being Hokie Respected out

I own a dry stack storage business for boats where we use a very large fork lift with 12' forks that picks the boat up in the rack building and then takes it to the water. Our company name is Trojan Landing. We have T shirts with Trojan Landing on the front and a picture of the fork lift holding a boat on the back of the shirt with the motto: Let Us Put it in For You! My son, who is a VT grad designed it. One day a lady who looked to be in her 80's came in and when she saw the shirt she said she had to have one. I didn't charge her.
