He was flirting with Minnesota. Not sure how the changing landscape effects that.
Would also assume that Huhn is a Hokie at 1 PM
My first thought as well. Hopefully the good news comes at 1 and Huhn is coming to Blacksburg.
Probably a safe bet
I would like to believe this has to do with Huhn (maybe) committing today. Bergeron was on campus, probably had a conversation with Franklin.
Sounds like we will be getting Pony Boy Troy Huhn, which, if thats not his nickname, it damn sure should be
Stay gold!!
If he doesn't wanna be in a competition for the starter role, that's fine. I can't imagine the conversation went any other way besides "we're bringing in some other guys to compete, are you in?" And he said nah 🤷🏽♂️ oh well, on to the next!
Could also be NIL related... The NIL previously promised was in jeopardy, another school is offering more, etc
He could also just not like JMFF or the new OC/scheme...
Could be a bunch of things other than 'he doesn't want to compete'
In the off chance we don't land (stay gold) Pony Boy Troy Huhn, are we concerned we don't have a 4⭐ QB secured?
As long as our pass protection goes from "actively tackling our own QB" to "more than 0.01 seconds of protection" I think we'll see improvement
I really don't know that either are going to realistically start next year we're probably looking to fill the gap with a portal QB like we did with Drones (ducks)
lot of coaching changes...probably lots of 4* Fr and r-Fr gonna be in the portal soon...or more likely, Franklin wants someone with more experience for the next year or two. i am guessing next year's starter will come from the portal
100% next year's starter is coming from the portal. There's no way he's bringing a freshman in to start game 1.
Just the simple fact that we have concerns about not getting a 4-star already tells me we are moving in the right direction. The way Pry had us headed we would be losing out on 2-stars...
Two 2⭐ QBs = a 4⭐ right?
Had an official this weekend in Blacksburg didn't he?
Does this confirm Pop will be starter next year? /s
I expect Huhn to announce for VT. I would like to see Sam Leavitt as the bridge, but everyone that needs a QB will be calling him.
Edit- and he committed as soon as I typed this.
obviously you need to keep typing until the end of the signing period
Just realized we will be seeing him. Signed with Georgia Tech.
my scrum team is 5 git grads, a clemson grad, and me. the head of development is a lsu grad so i got all kinds of "man sucks you couldnt pay delane enough this year, hes a baller"
anyway, we got to talking about just random shit. every single last git grad, no exception, gave less than half of a shit about not just football, but sports in general. *
which begs the question: if a kid commits and there is nobody around to see or hear it, does he really commit?
* they hate sports yet they all hate anything associated with uga: calling them obnoxious mouth breathers who bark at children. thought that was amusing lol
Decommitting from us and signing with a team we play rarely works out well for the player
Hope this holds true for him as well
To be fair to Cole, he was basically processed even before signing and was told to find somewhere else to go, James Franklin wanted Troy Huhn as his QB.
Wish we could have keep Bergeron along with Huhn. But I understand Bergeron's desired to be on a team with a strong interest in him. Bergeron was a good 3 star upgraded to 4 star commitment from the Pry & Montgomery recruiting.
Watching Bergeron's game film, he just has an ease of passing the football, even on the run. Similar to John Elway. Gifted athletes make things look easy. Of course, quarterbacking involves more than just passing the ball.
