I am noting that Franklin is on a tear doing all level of appearances to drum up support for VT Football.
I al also seeing some other content creators producing items that are seemingly aligned to support us.
I anyone else seeing this or are my O&M glasses getting fogged?

In support of my thesis I submit this piece from ESPN published 22 Nov.
ENTER SANDMAN 🎸 What makes Virginia Tech's homefield advantage special | ACC Huddle
I think JMFF's contract includes incentives/bonuses related to TV ratings, so he is definitely going through the car wash every chance he gets.
Ooooo do tell
Social media algos are definitely pushing this stuff to me. But also, it's there for the first time since Pry was hired.
I agree but ESPN publishing Enter Sandman stuff right now focusing on the start of it's use and the concert last May? Seems a bit performative.
Off the top of my head, there's an ACCN Documentary on the Miracle in Morgantown (created by HokieVision, aired on ACCN), and another one on Beamer's legacy.
My guess is that this was made after the Metallica concert, and sitting around waiting for a good time to air. Maybe it was intended to be an offseason special, but the JMFF hiring gave them a good timing/fun reason to air it.
Another aspect of social media algos; I've noticed a sizable jump in the amount of Penn St social media (none to dozens of posts) flooding my feeds since Franklin was hired by VT.
then Penn State-VT metadata was suddenly connected so you now count as the target audience for all kinds of ads... I mean "content".
Every time I learn more about the mechanics of social media I think those people that want to live off the grid may have it figured out
As someone who built a jewelry business on social media, the off the grid people are correct. I could argue social media was at least alright to use 3 years ago. Now its just advertising. All of it.
one of the social media managers at my company (large retailer) said of social media: "if you aren't paying for it, YOU are the product"
That's true, though you're the product, even if you ARE paying for it.
I think its just bots driving up traffic to make money
Also, VT themed Starbucks coffee cups are at my Target Starbucks in VB with no UVA equivalent in sight. Coincidence? Probably, but still cool timing with the Franklin hire.
Don't have those up in Nova at the couple Starbucks we go to.
Spotted (purchased) in Winchester Target this week. The sticker says 2025 but the box says 2024, so hard to say if it's really new, but to be sure, I never noticed it before.
Were they at the Pleasant Valley one or Rutherford Crossing one?
Market Street (exit 317)
(edit: I guess that's Rutherford Crossing)
Those are likely dated stock - you can find them on Ebay sometimes.
They were around 12.95 down here but I've seen them over 60 on eBay
Yeah, expect to pay a premium on Ebay. If you want one and can buy direct, that's the way to go.
I was surprised between Starbucks brand and licensing it was only $12.95. If they pulled them back out for JF it was a quick turnaround.
I just snagged one of those yesterday at my local Target (Starbucks) in Glen Burnie, MD.
Was pleasantly surprised to see it out. There was a stack of 6-8 of them. They only had one other school with cups out: Rutgers.
fixed 🙄
