Posting tonight because I won't have time in the morning before our noon tip-off. Our 10-3 Ladies host 8-6 Radford from the Big South in the final non-conference game of the season. The game will be on ACCNx with PxP Bailey Angle, Analyst Kamera Harris and Tamara Brown wandering around. Matchup Predictor 98.7% VT.
Radford is currently tied for first in the Big South because no one has played a league game yet. Mike McGuire is in his 13th year as head coach, starting this season with a record of 192-173, one win short of the program record for wins. With eight wins this season, he is at 200-179. The Highlanders have 4 WNIT bids under McGuire and one NCAA bid in 2019.
The Highlanders have already lost to at Wake Forest (74-64) and at Ga Tech (82-36. Against common opponents, Radford beat Loyola Maryland 59-50; we won 64-48. In the other common opponent game, Radford beat Niagara 80-58; we won 83-46.

Height should not be an issue in this game; the Hokies will have a slight advantage. Starters in their last game at Hampton were #33 Ellie Taylor 5' 10" Grad Guard, #4 Joi Williams 5'6" Jr Guard, #8 Cate Carlson 5' 10" Jr Guard, #44 Angelina Nice 6' 1" soph guard and 35 Kirah Dandridge 5' 10" Sr Guard. Only three forwards play regularly: #23 Georgia Simonsen 6' 1" Fresh who plays 18 min/game; #44 Jenkins plays 18 min/game and #24 Anna Stromberg 6' 3" soph plays 11min/game. So they will have about 1.5 forwards on the court on average.

The Highlanders shoot 37.3% overall, 26.8% from three and 64.2% from the line. Only Williams averages double digit scoring. They average 13.1 assists and 15.3 turnovers per game. About 38% of their shots are from beyond the arc; and they make 6.5 per game. Only Williams shoots better than 30% from deep at 34.1%.

Unless we have three starters who can't play tomorrow, this game should not be as exciting as the men's game was today. Coach Duffy should be able to get everyone playing time and the fans should get biscuits.
LET'S GO HOKIES!

LET'S GO...
Hokies.
I have 13 tickets for the game bringing the entire family in for Christmas to the game. We will be our own cheering section!
Well, this doesn't look like the game Wenzel plays better. She's already 0-3 with a bad pass turnover in 5 minutes.
Radford coach could be Buzz Williams brother.
Radford shooting 28% or Hokies would be in a big hole here. Wenzel and Nelson continue their trend of being offensive black holes. 0-8 combined
1 for 13 at halftime
12 of the Hokies 25 missed shots
Wenzel/Nelson:2/15 (13.3%)
Rest of Team: 16/29 (55.1%)
Please have those two pass
Duffy needs to go to a zone to clog up the paint. Radford between dribble penetration and getting a big in ISO are killing the Hokies inside
Hokies up 31-24 at half
Guards are going to have to score better in ACC play. Mackie and Carleigh 2 for 15; rest of the team 16 for 29.
Yeah. 13% vs 55%....pass the ball
Hang the banner...Wenzel made a shot
But then misses another free throw
90 seconds for biscuits
BISCUITS
Great game from Baker 23/7/4
Daley too 15/5
Solid boost from Trent with 6 points in 11 minutes
Freelon cleaning up the boards with 17
Great team defense in second half
4/19 from Nelson/Wenzel. 0/6 from 3🤢 🤮 🤢
Trent impresses me more every time I see her play. She could be very good next year.
December 21st*. I've been sitting here watching a replay of the game, thinking it was live lol.
Oops. Sorry about that. One of the nice things about retirement is I don't really know what day it is anymore.
It's definitely a day that ends on "Y"
Unless you are speaking German-then it's:
Es ist definitiv ein Tag, der auf "G" endet.
Never. We wouldn't be undefeated World War Champions if we wanted to speak German.
I went to the Hokie Sports site to see what time today's game was. At 1:30 yesterday. Oh well, I'm almost tired of noncon games altogether, so it was no big loss and I did get to see the end.
