This. Like it or not, uniform design is run by fashionistas, and grey is "in" right now across all forms of design, not just uniforms. Don't worry, it'll be gone in a few years, just like everyone's black uniforms a few years ago.

Those FSU collar and shoulder graphics look kinda lacey to me...wonder if if makes the players feel pretty, heh, heh.
That matte maroon helmet rocks though...bet a big ole orange and white VT would look great on that background!
Don't care for the skinny Miami numbers, or much else really on their unis.

I have to admit that I kind of like what Miami has going on, aside from the "smoke" with orange helmets. The rest look pretty good IMO.
And really the only problem I'd have if I was an FSU fan is the not gold helmet on the one set. Overall though not as bad as I was expecting after the logo.

FWIW; knowing a football equipment manager, I've heard we have six different uniforms/combinations prepared for this season. All maroon everything for sure, and then a white matte helmet of some sort will be incorporated. Word is they're sufficiently badass.

I'm not holding my breath...I'm sure the same person who is responsible for all of our UNIs in the past 5 years thinks they're all sufficiently badass.

For Miami those just aren't the same Miami. Miami's uniforms were most intimidating in the early 2000s IMO (probably more so with who was in the jersey and not the jersey itself). I loved the Shawn Taylor look with all white and the orange tint visor (too bad you can't do that anymore). I guess i kinda like the all white one for miami, but the greanish/blue/teal almost looks to Miami Dolphins to me.

They are trying to confuse the Dolphins fans that the NFL is playing in Miami every weekend. Alternating Saturday and Sundays week to week. Only way Miami might get a decent crowd.

I liked the all white Miami ones too. In my opinion, Texas has the best all-white uniforms. Not sure what makes theirs so much better than the others, but I've always felt that UT has the most intimidating white uniforms in college football.

Wow... the piping on the shoulder pads on the Miami unis... eesh. And that black FSU uni?
And I have to agree that the graphics on FSU's shoulders are awful...

The old Miami logo is also incorporated into the shoulder design too.
I guess I'm in the minority that think the FSU stuff is a drastic improvement. Think about what their collars used to look like. It was a train wreck that looked like one of the equipment managers toddler's had come up with. The primary and secondary logos have been modernized (although the Seminole looks a bit like Elvis now).
Nike has put out some really bad uniform combos lately but I think they hit homeruns with both of these designs, especially FSU's.

I love the all green Miami uni and like the Orange but the White hits me as too close to the Oregon whites with the shoulder piping. Not sure what I think of the Smoke colored one as the helmet is throwing me off.

Well, all those combinations for Miami are interchangeable, so its pretty unlikely you'll see the all-______ combo for them at any point.
The Miami greys are supposed to be "Smoke." Paying homage to their mediocre entrance with the giant inflatable helmet.
Gray is the new black. Seriously, it's one of the three big fads going on, along with matte and camo.

I just can't get past the collar & shoulder pattern for FSU. Combined with the number font, it looks like the Boston College jerseys had a seizure.

If FSU had gone with a Maroon number combo I would have liked that uniform but that gold just makes it look weird to me.

They will alll look great with blood on them. And grass stains on the back. With a few of these on the helmets:
