Comments
Yep. I just payed for access for the midlands tournament on the BIG10+
It is going to be fun to watch the young guns!
Miller down at 149 is interesting. Wonder if they figured that was a better weight for him coming off injury.
May also have been about where they liked their chances with the primary of Church vs Nininger against the Midlands field seeing Church and Miller wrestling attached.
Should I make a midlands thread tomorrow or just do the updates here
Do it here, I updated title and lineup from Wrestling Twitter in OP
Sounds good. I think I'm going to miss the morning sessions for Midlands and Powerade tomorrow but I'll be back by mid afternoon
Chruch will be wrestling at the Scuffle

Alright I'm back. I'll be ready for QF updates at 8PM EST
Seidel will be on deck mat 6
Seidel is up 13-0 after 2 periods
Seidel with a 17-0 tech fall over number #14 in the country
Hype train in full effect. Finally get to see him and he is as advertised.
Someone on TSL said that before Seidel got his hand injury. That Seidel dominated Campbell in a wrestle off match. And Campbell is top 10ish in the country
I hope we get to see him in person at some home duals this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Robie decides to redshirt him to get his eligibility lined up with Bo Bassett.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Campbell(most likely) or Seidel bump up to 141 and wrestles the rest of the season.
Yeah if they don't redshirt Seidel you definitely let Campbell wrestle Crook for the spot. I was hoping Tom would take another step and be a solid AA candidate but he hasn't shown it yet.

Gorman with a pin to advance
Noah in SV gets in on a single and he is able to grab the far ankle for control and wins 4-1
NN wrestle's Lehigh's Reinsel next.
Miller held on to beat him 3-2 in QFs.
Reinsel is very tough on top.
This will be a good test.
Ferrell with a 11-1 MD over the 5 seed. Him Nininger and Gorman are all guaranteed to finish top 8 and make the podium
Seidel with a 16-1 TF and he is into the finals
Gorman with a takedown with 5 seconds left in the match and wins 4-1 to advance too the consis semis. Which i fully expect him to receive a MFF win to advance too the third place match
Gaj with a 9-2 Decision over Lemley to advance too the finals
Miller loses 2-1 to a former Wahoo
Noah wins 12-5 and advances to the Consolation semis
Burton loses 6-3 with a last second takedown
Sergio loses 5-2
Ferrell with a 6-4 decision to advance too the consultation semi finals
Gorman did in fact received a MFF win. He will be wrestling for third
Can you explain a MFF win for the casuals (me)
The guy he was supposed to face medically forfeited. Either he got hurt in his qf match. Or the plan was him was to wrestle three matches and forfeit out the rest of the tournament
Thank you!
Ryan Burton wins 8-6 and advances to the 3rd place match
Sergio with a 12-4 Major decision to advance too the 3rd place match
Ferrell receives a MFF and will wrestle for 3rd/4th
Seidel wins by second period pinfall. He is your 133 pound Midlands champion!
Gorman beats number 31 in the country at 141 pounds 9-3. He finishes 3rd!
Gaj comes out on top after a crazy minute long scramble to win 4-1 in SV. He is your 149 pound Midland Champion!
Hokies are 3rd in the team race
How many teams?
Thirty
Pretty crazy considering they have three champs and bonus wins in a large number of matches. Too bad we didnt enter every weight class. They could have used Church here to score points. Not looking forward to the Pittsburgh dual.
Idk. I think our lineup is going to be alot different when ACC Duals start
Why did they now take away like 23 team points? Were they scoring someone unattached? Now shows Hokies in 8th place with 60.5
I wonder if they were scoring 3 wrestlers at 149 and then dropped two of them.
Sergio with a absolute last second takedown to win 5-4. He places third
Burton wins 1-0 and finishes third
Ferrell loses 2-1 and finishes 4th
Seidel wins the wrestler of the tournament trophy
Also Flo was lying to me. We finished 8thπ
That's all from midlands. Two champions three third place finishers. A fourth. A fifth and a sixth. Onto the new year's and the Ole scuff
Did Nininger forfeit to Miller just to avoid injury or did he get hurt?
He looked hurt since he lost in the Quarterfinal to Michael Gioffre from (Illinois) 10-9. He kept wrestling anyway.
I think it happened when he got pancaked to his back
Eddie V Campbell Crook Bullock Sasso and Mullen all into tonight's quarterfinals
Eddie V Crook Sasso and Mullen into the semi finals. I don't want to talk about Campbell π
Eddie facing former Hokie Cooper Flynn in Semis
Eddie V wins 8-3. The most lopsided match between the two. He is on to the finals
Also Penn State with six in semis for comparison. North Dakota St and Little Rock also have four and Penn has three.
I saw the Campbell score and thought he got bulldozed, just realized on team twitter he was up 13-2 and got pinned. Damn that's tough.
Now the MFF for Campbell in Consolation
It is going to be very difficult to keep AS out of our starting line up moving forward. Both of them are so talented.
Sasso medical forfeited. So he'll finsh 6th
Any idea what issue is?
Don't think it's an actual injury. If you know what I'm meaning
Mullen with a 22-6 Tech fall. He is into the finals
Eddie V with a takedown in SV and he wins 4-1. He is your 125 pound Scuffle champion!
That was a gutsy win. Now job EV!
Crook takes 3rd with 4-0 Dec Collins from Army.
Mullen wins 9-5. And he is your heavyweight scuffle champion!
