A loss, but at this point I will continue to simply root for the guys who are here and hope we can pull off an upset against UVA.
I wouldn't get too attached to anyone on this roster.
Shoot, by that point, I hope we can field a team against UVA 🤣
I still don't know half their names, I don't think getting attached will be a worry.
His Bio has already been scrubbed from Hokiesports. He's a Senior transfer, and by foregoing the remainder of the season retains his eligibility for his next school.
That man is hoping that NC State Film gets him paid.
I doubt that it will. Two good plays does not make a good game.
More reps for Sheldon Robinson isn't a bad thing.
May be last portal entry in the 'fired coach 30-day' window. Portal closes tomorrow.
I mean, I get it, but I also don't.
He's @ VT, getting his $$ and playing enough to have some film for scouts to evaluate. He's playing less than @ NM but playing vs. significantly better competition than the MWC.
I just don't understand the goal. I certainly don't think he's going to get P2 level interest.
So he's going to play at an equal or lower level for one more year and be one year older--how does that improve his chances to play at the next level?
For quarterbacks, I sort of get it because age isn't necessarily a deterrent to an NFL team at that position. But for a player with (presumptively) only one year of eligibility remaining, there just doesn't seem to be much upside to prolonging your college career indefinitely.
There is an upside for @ APSportsAgency
May have gotten advice that his chances are minimal at next level so getting revenue share plus NIL for one more season could be huge boost to long term financial well being. Depends on how this year's money was allocated too on if he is losing out. Been with the team for 7 of 12 games so likely got most of this year's money anyway.
I suppose, but that highlights one of my main complaints: zero transparency.
How much NIL does a player in Ellis' position command? A backup safety at a struggling P4?
I doubt its nearly enough to create long-term financial stability.
Its clearly in the NIL agents's interest to prolong "careers" as long as possible--and that's one of the core problems of unmitigated Pay for Play-- the playrrs are probably getting as much bad advice and being used by others as a means to an end as anything else.
Maybe he just wants to have a fun senior year? Maybe he doesn't want his last year of playing organized football to be a throwaway season where half the team has mailed it in?
Maybe he just wants to play at the highest level he can - be it VT, Clemson, SEC, etc.
Maybe he thinks he can get an extra $50k next year. That ain't chump change; that could help put a relative through school, payoff a family member's debt, sit in an investment fund, buy a car, etc
Maybe there's an uncle pulling the strings and pushing buttons. Maybe he's getting worked.
Maybe VT is behind on player payments.
I never know about any of these guys' personal/financial situations, so I try hard not to pass judgement. Thanks for your service, best of luck, next man up.
Well said.
This would absolutely fuck us in the short and long term.
Meh, it happened at USC and they have an amazing recruiting classes coming in. Happened at Michigan State too. UNLV. Probably a bunch of other schools too.
I think it's more common than you realize. It's a really easy way to push a player into the portal (not saying that's what happened to Ellis).
Definitely, don't buy a car. lol
good luck I guess. He couldn't find the field on an atrocious defense - not sure if that says more about his inability to compete, or more about our player management. And I'm sure there is room for both to be suspect.
Fucking traitor
Gross
Once a hokie always a hokieJk kick rocks.
lol what a dweeb
Oh he's going to hear some very interesting things from the east side stands this fall
Fuck him. I don't like anyone who transfers from one team to their biggest rival.
Unless it's UVA2VT of course.
No, I don't want any UVA players transferring in ever. Last time we did that the long snapper lost us a game. I don't trust em.
Have I been gone so long people are taking me seriously? Uh oh.
gotta use the /s
He's never going to get a win in this rivalry game, is he? How sad.
Didn't Ellis wear #8? Did they use the wrong photo?
I think the players just picked random numbers before every game
Cant wait to see him catch a block that lays his ass out
Give him the Blanding treatment
I hope he's absolutely irrelevant.
He had 1 play for us so he was pretty close for us
That's lame.
I hope they overpaid for him, and look forward to seeing him on the losing side in our match next year.
That's a choice.
A bad one, but a choice.
Spare parts.
