This should be fun. Is anyone else planning on making the trip? I am really excited to go and see all of the Ohio State gameday traditions. I have heard lots about them from friends and they sound really fun. Also, its a night game and on primetime. Apart from moving the game to Lane, this is a great way to start the season!

I'm planning on going with a few friends. I just need to convince my friends first...and tell them about the plans.
I've had my hotel and flight booked since January. No matter what you think of Ohio State, The Horseshoe is a historic stadium, and a night game there is worth the price of admission.
Joe, that was your 10,000 turkey leg post.
Thats a lotta legs!
I'm in the exact same boat - booked hotels back in the fall. Really excited for this trip and to check out the Hokies in one of college football's most iconic venues.
I wanted to go, but none of my friends have realized they graduated and have real jobs now and the thought of buying a plane ticket and hotel for a weekend on top of the game ticket still scare the shit out of them.
Tell them to churn credit cards and get free miles.
I'll be there
Should have been a noon game. Now I'm definitely not going.
Definitely making the drive from Blacksburg
I'm definitely going. My question is, is there any way to get tickets cheaper than what they're online for? I mean, they're already $150+ which is super painful, but if it has to be that way then I guess I'll just suck it up.
Here is the official anOSU ticket exchange site: http://www.ticketexchangebyticketmaster.com/ohio-state-tickets/Inventory...
Includes a seating chart.

Yikes.
This will get the ball rolling!
Juice, our under the radar offense, and our annual Defense mastery could be a big surprise. VT wins this game and the next 3 games at Lane will be epic. VT will get better time slots for TV as the season progresses - No More Noon Games!!
I can easily see GT and Boston College being evening games at home in that case (Miami already is - on ESPN). This should be very motivating for the team. Beat anOSU! Let's Get Lane Rocking Again!
First comment I've seen starting the Juice hype in the actual context of the season. I like where you went.
I'll be moving to Wyoming. So naturally I've already started looking up plane tickets to Columbus.
Will there be student tickets available for this, or should I just buy those that are available to the general public?
No, since its not a traditional neutral site game but a home and home. There will just be the regular allotment that away fans get in any stadium, which isn't very much.
I'm really hoping the MV's make the trip there, should be a heck of a game.
I hear Dave is trying his best to make it happen #Sources
You mean you wouldn't prefer to go to UNC just like every other year?!
/sarcastica
They usually travel twice each regular season, I'm sure UNC would still be the other one since UVA is at home this year. The only other possibility I could see is Wake and they always tend to opt for UNC. Which is great, the band can once again experience the wonderful people down in Chapel Hill threatening to spit on them and booing them as they take the field.
My freshman year, the trip to UNC was the worst. I was shocked that fans were so hostile towards the band!
BTW wasn't your avatar drawn by the JRNorf and put on a T-shirt? I've been meaning to ask
You are correct! I'm the same class as you and JR. I have 2 of those shirts.
And yeah I know exactly what you're talking about. I distinctly remember them booing us as we stepped on their field freshman year. Then 2 years later, we were waiting to rehearse with their band in the middle of campus and some woman behind me threatened to "spit on us unless we moved out of their band's space". haha.
I had the pleasure of rooming with JR freshman year haha.
And yeah UNC fans can shove it. I was so satisfied after both the games the MV's went to while I was there.
Sooooo, you musta been on 3rd floor EAJ, I was as well. I was on the other side though (Dustins side). haha.
You would be correct! Its funny you mention Dustin because I was just hanging out with Dukes this past weekend (RA on my side) and he mentioned him. Man I miss EAJ
Where are the visitor sections at the Horseshoe? Figure I will have to go aftermarket.
6.5 hour drive from NOVA. Easy stuff.
I will make every effort to make it to this game, and the one at Lane.
I plan to avoid you at all costs
I will be driving up for the game. What's the ticket situation, are there some already on sale? Can you get some through any VT ticketing?
Saw a few on Vivid Seats. I haven't checked VT tickets yet though. I MUST be among the faithful for this game.
As an OSU student I'm frieken giddy. I'll be there!
So we can count on you to get us all tickets?
Only if you want to sit in the student section!
An entire block of TKP VT fans in the an OSU student section. That would be sweet!!!
I would prefer sitting in the student section.
This! Leg for you. sir!
I would love to sit in the student section! Hook us up!
Of course!
People are always trying to get rid of their rickets, and usually for a steal. I'll stay on the lookout for you guys
As if there would be any other place to sit, box seats are for weiners
I am probably getting around 5 tickets. I also have an extra room about 3 miles from the shoe...
I'm down
I'll be there! I love that all of our road games are not that far away. My goal is to go to every Tech game this season, so I can see other schools campuses and traditions!
I wish I was going...none of my friends have any desire to go.
You guys better cheer your asses off for the rest of us!! ;-)
Will Trevor Thompson be attending?
*ducks*
Depends on if there is cell phone reception in A Horseshoe
It's going to be loud. I hope he will have his phone on vibrate so he can feel it Buzz.
Horrible. Mountains of West Virginia bad.
Hokies on prime time TV. Im excited already! Win or lose GO HOKIES!
#BeatBrutus
Let's do this. Plant your feet and withhold hell, we are gonna be in for a fun one.
#BeatBrutus
I'll definitely be going! 3 hr drive up from KY.
I will be driving up with the wife to join Hokie friends that live in Columbus to attend the game. I am planning on buying tickets through Tech. It might be golden hokie restricted like UVA normally is.
I was hoping to get some insight on this. Is that typical? My dad is a silver Hokie, and I was hoping to buy through him. Guess you are saying that is unlikely?
For some away games with restricted ticket allotments (through Tech) they restrict or limit how many tickets people can buy. anOSU is relatively big and has a rabid fan base so there might not be that many tickets available. Therefore Tech makes the decision to sell tickets based on Hokie Club levels. It might be that if there aren't enough sold they open the selling to lower levels.
Any chance I could email you with some questions? To respect what Whit and Scooter said on the Orange and Maroon tour I'd rather not blast it on the internet. Thanks!
That was also the old ticketing office and Hokie Club. Whit might have thrown that all out already.
My uncle and his family live in the Columbus area and are die-hard Ohio State (and Alabama) fans. I might just go stay with them and relish in our victory. And gloat just a little bit.
Oh god anOSU and Bama fans eww
I am taking my sons, ages 8 and 5, to this. It will be the first of hopefully many trips with them to big-time games away from Lane (ND, FSU, Michigan, MNC, etc). Tickets will be pricey but a value given the venue/opponent.
Being a Hokie in Ohio, I am pumped to have this game close by. 2 hours west to Columbus for this game and then 2 hours east for the game with Pitt. Throw in a game in Blacksburg and I will get to see the boys play more this year than I do most years. Good times.
Beatdown the Buckeyes.

Hehehe. Good to know the mascot from my current school has a history of taking down a buckeye.
I met one of your kind at my lab here in France recently. (A Penn State alum, not a horse). There was also a professor from Kansas. The Kansas professor was trying to explain to a room full of French people that the Jayhawk on his powerpoint slide isn't a real bird, but just a mascot that some students made up (lol, losers) and my Penn State friend chimed in that his school's mascot, the Nittany Lion, isn't a real lion--it's actually a puma. It was a pretty entertaining conversation and I'm pretty sure no one else had any idea what they were talking about.
Did you offer that the Hokie on your presentation was in fact really an ass-kicking turkey?
I haven't had to make any presentations yet, but if I do, I assure you they will know.
hoping to recreate this scene in Columbus in 2014. Go HOKIES!
That was almost as good as seeing trey outrun the entire Bama secondary to the end zone, also when trey spun cj mosely to his Ass
I've been there for a Mich/anOSU game and the tailgating atmosphere is absolutely unmatched in all of college sports. However, prepare to do the walk of shame if you walk through the RV lot. Fans line up on both sides of the main drag and chant "azzhole" as you walk through. We had a blast there. Eddie George's bar is a must the night before the game.
Ill be there. Booking hotel and flight this week.. Cannot wait. Don't care if we get blown out (well.. I kinda do), but the experience itself is going to be a memorable one to say the least.
That is part of the reason I am going to Notre Dame the first time the Hokies play there.
Yup, ill be doing the same. And if we lose, we lose... IF we win, it would make the trip even better.
We have a couple of RV groups that park in the airport lot at VT and we have already started making arrangements to head to Columbus. I am hoping we can get at least 30 - 40 RV's to make the trek. Last year at Atlanta, it was Alabama 130 RV's vs. VT 15 RV's. But we still had a great time.
