The 14-5, 4-3 Ladies host 13-6, 4-3 Clemson today at 6 PM. The game will be on the ACCNx platform with Jason Patterson on PxP and Mack McCarthy Color. ESPN Matchup Predictor says 65.9% Hokies. Clemson Head Coach Shawn Poppie was an assistant coach at VT from 2016 to 2022. This is his second season at Clemson, where he is 27-23.
Clemson has lost to #2 South Carolina, #8 UNC, #13 Michigan St., #23 Alabama, LOLUVA and GA Tech. Their ACC wins are against NC State, who is near the bottom of the receiving votes list, Pitt, Miami, and WF. Against the one common ACC opponents they beat Miami by 15 in Miami; we lost to Miami by 8 at home.

Clemson will probably start 3 seniors and 2 juniors. They only have 1 sophomore and 3 freshmen on the team and they don't play much. They do have one girl at 6' 5", but she is a senior who only plays a few minutes per game and has only played in 11 games. So overall, the Hokies should match up well in height.

The Tigers are led in scoring by #11 6' Jr F/G Rusne Ausustinaite at 11.8; followed by #12 5' 6" guard Mia Moore at 11.6. Also in double digits is #14 5' 7" Sr guard Rachel Rose who comes off the bench to score 10.2. The other three probable starters #32 5' 10" F Raven Thompson contributes 7.8; #21 6' 2" Sr F/G Hadli Periman contributes 3.2; and #5 5' 9" G Hannah Kohn contributes 5.1. Off the bench #23 6' 3" Grad F Demeara Hinkds contributes 8.9 ppg and #10 5' 9" Sr G Taylor Johnson-Mathews contributes 8.6. The top eight players play 18-30 minutes a game.

As a team Clemson shoots 44.2% overall, 34.2% from three and 67.3 from the line. Thompson and Augustinaite shoot over 40% from beyond the arc. The Tigers emphasize defense holding opponents to 57 ppg. They have 14.2 assists to 11.9 turnovers per game and have held opponents to 10.4 assists and caused 14.4 turnovers per game.
ESPN thinks we can win this and I guess I do too. But I also think we could lose if we have a bad shooting night or are careless with the basketball; and Clemson plays aggressive defense. To paraphrase CMY, we have a smart basketball team; but they sure do some things that make you wonder what they were thinking sometimes. If we don't have too many of those moments, I think we win this one.
LET'S GO HOKIES!

Lets Go
...and Kayla King back in Cassell is always a plus. She is a GA for Clemson.
Hokies!
And I think we can win if we have decent shooting. A bad night shooting and we don't win.
Two possessions...two turnovers
Nice run. 17-13 almost end of Q1.
Six turnovers, Wenzel with three and caused a fourth. I dont understand how both our teams are so bad at inbounding plays
Self inflicted mistakes. 8 turnovers and 2 offensive fouls. Extremely frustrating to watch.
Let's hope Clemson comes back to their average in the second half. Shot 67% overall and from three in the first half. Season average is 44 and 34%.
Leaving them WIDE OPEN
11-0 run to win FAM
What's comeback!
Incredible comeback. Exactly what I needed after experiencing the mens Bball team the past few weeks.
Great win ladies!!
FAM!
I couldn't watch. ACCNX wouldn't come up for me even after rebooting. I kept up by checking live stats every few minutes. Looks like a heck of a fourth quarter!
Huge comeback win FAM!
Lets go FAM! Great win.
Wow. Couldn't watch. Would love to see the 4th quarter. Win % graph on espn had tigers at 97.2% at 2:38 left. Nice to be on the good side of a choke job for once.
Clemson clemsoning.
Wow, i cut it on and seen klumpson up 61-50 so i cut it back off. Must've been a great 4th
Fun to be on the right side of this for once
I wasn't able to attend or watch due to a work thing, but I was sorely disappointed watching the score updates constantly showing Clemson ahead of the Hokies. So glad they were able to punch through and get the W in the waning minutes!
Hell yeah. Big win. Officiating was awful but seemed to go in our favor for a change.
Officiating seems always to be awful, men's or women's, no matter the game or the opponents. But a win is always a WIN!!! regardless.
It was the worst officiating I have ever seen in the second and third quarter. The first and fourth they were calling things both ways. But the refs were getting actively booed hard in the third as they worked to help Clemson build a lead. I think they got a talking to from headquarters during the break into the fourth period, because they came out fair and actually calling fouls on Clemson to start the fourth.
Let's put it this way, the crowd at half capacity was louder calling bullshit on the refs than the famous Buzz game where he had to quiet the crowd.
