94 years ain't bad. Never met him, but he was clearly fundamental to the rise of Hokie Football. Thank you to Wes and the Worsham family for everything y'all have done!

One of the nicest guys I ever met. We will miss you Wes.

I dealt with his fire sprinkler company at one time, and called one of the numbers I had for them. Turns out Mr. Worsham answered the phone, & it was his cell number. We had a short conversation about what I needed, and he directed me to who I needed to talk to, and I took the opportunity to tell him I was a Hokie, and appreciated everything he'd done for Tech. He thanked me, and I came away with the impression he was a genuinely nice guy.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

The wife and I went to the game at Purdue back in like 2014 or something and the stadium was maybe 60% full with half of that Hokies. We took the opportunity to sneak down to some open seats 3rd row behind the Hokies bench and there were two things I remember from that game. 1. Tremaine Edmunds as a freshman looked like an NFLer, could tell he was going to be a stud. 2. Wes Worsham had the right to do what he pleased. He saw some young fan in the stands, walked over to the equipment table, grabbed some gloves and handed them to the kid in the stands. Didn't ask anyone if it was ok, might have taken them out of a helmet, probably just put it on his tab. Legend.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

In the early 90s, he donated $1M and had the field named after him, ostensibly in perpetuity.

I wonder how much it would take for something like that these days?

The year I became the bird, Mr Worsham paid for three brand new hokie bird suits, without being asked, because he saw that ours were getting old and because his grandkids loved the bird. He was all in

What's the cost of a hokie bird suit?

I know mascot outfits are not cheap. Quick google shows generic, off the shelf options are $1-3k. I'm guessing for a Hokie bird it's around $10k each

If you can't handle my shit posts, you don't deserve my memes

Woah woah woah, it's too early to be getting so philosophical. How many roads must a man walk down, indeed.

"What is the sound of one hand clapping?"

The same amount of applause as the UVA spring game

I do art stuff.

He bought rails for the entire bar at Tots one night.

Unconfirmed, but it seems like something he would do given the stories above about his generosity.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

I would definitely be down for Wes Worsham becoming the VT equivalent of Bill Brasky
