Hokies have two ranked Duals this weekend on ACC Network. Both Duals are at home.
We already have some gamesmanship from Oklahoma St. They have listed Jax Forrest and Ronnie Ramirez as probable for Sundays dual. Jax Forrest and Aaron Seidel have history in high school. Forrest beat Seidel last year in the HS finals. Forrest then graduated early in December to enroll at Oklahoma State. Both he and Seidel are undefeated so far in college, both scoring majority bonus point wins (all Seidel's wins have been bonus points.) The chatter is Oklahoma State may hold Forrest out for an upcoming Dual with #7 Iowa.
Oklahoma St comes in 13-1. UNC is 9-3. Not sure how UNC is ranked so high as a team when thry only have 5 ranked wrestlers.

As for Oklahoma St, this is a stacked roster top to bottom. The heavier weights will be our greatest weakness here with the Cowboys having a a top 10 wrestler at every weight. Hokies will need several upsets to win the Dual Sunday.

Really wish just one time we could see Seidel where there is no Tech Fall. He might put up 40+ points.
Even last night, he needed just the escape to Tech Fall his guy but instead got reversal and was hunting back points until ref told him it was over.
UNC had a bunch of redshirt freshman that wrestled tough. They're going to be a very scrappy team next season. Really impressed with Gorman this season. He's strong on top and has good defense. Like most freshman he has room to grow on his bottom technique. Very high potential.
I was very happy to see Mac get the win. He deserved it since he had the only takedown. His recipe for success at ACCs is going to be the same. Scrappy defense and convert on one or two quality shots a match.

Controlled both ankles and rolled Jimmy on back. It wasnt until Jimmy broke his hold from behind that the points happened. Mullen struggles to finish shots against bulkier heavyweights unfortunately.
Pretty common back point position called a Peterson. You can have control and have your back on your opponent when you have a leg and arm, it was well timed by the okie state guy and a bit careless by Mullen being overly aggressive. .
Yeah Mullen knew he needed a Tech Fall or Pin for Hokies to win so was taking more risks, unfortunately he struggles to finish against the bigger opponents.

Yupp they came in with a really conservative strategy. Made the mat small and didn't take many shots.
Talked to Rock before the dual and he reiterated that he expects this to be the start of a dominant run for Tech in the ACC. He is super high on Tech's next couple recruiting classes, for obvious reasons.
I can see us dominating the ACC. Hope we are able to take it one step further. Minimum team podium.
The rankings held mostly steady with Sasso being the big mover up to #11. If he can find a way to beat Stout or Posada at ACCs he could end up with a nice seed for NCAAs. That Novak win is carrying a lot of weight right now.

Yeah as good as our wrestling team is and the progression of solidly hanging with the like of OkSt...there's still a pretty much unclosable gap between PSU and everyone else. Feels like everyone will be playing for second place for the foreseeable future.
