The Orange Effect shirt is probably the best shirt that's come out of the effect games, second only to the one that had the definition of audible on the back.
I like the back of the maroon one, but it kinda just looks like we mailed it in on the fronts.
I agree with the audible shirt being the best of the best but I think the clipboard maroon shirt and the lunch pail orange are behind the audible shirt and ahead of these two
I tend to agree with you on the lunch pail and clipboard, those were fantastic. I do however like the back of the maroon shirt this year, I think any time you can get the Hokie bird and the hokie stone together it's a great shirt.
Those are two of my favorites, and I love the back of the Skipper one, too. Don't like the front on that one, though.

Definitely getting these before I graduate and leave Blacksburg.
I will probably wear my VT gears even more while at Tennessee for graduate school over the next two years than I did while in Blacksburg.

I would rank this second behind the audible shirt. Otherwise, I agree. There are no others that come close to those two. The closest, IMO, at a distant 3rd, is the 2007 orange effect shirt with the lunch pail. "Time to go to work"

Had the dictionary's definition of an Audible on the back, and underneath had the disclaimer "*Not applicable in loud environments. see: Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, Virginia."

You can cut them down to be used as baby blankets and re-sew into pillows or OM Effect baby pants when they grow up. Don't forget about dogs or cats either. Can be used as place mats at dinner as long as you do not spill on them.
I passed a couple down to my daughter, she's 8, but she will wear them to bed. My father sends sweatshirts and other stuff. We started early.

And man just now realizing how beat the shirts were when I was there (08-12). I think there are only a few that I would actually wear now.
I wear the orange one from '08 all the time because that is one high-quality t-shirt. It has never faded or stretched/shrank a bit. Haven't had any other effect shirts hold up like that one for some reason. My '09 maroon shirt is almost unwearable now.
The 09 shirt was horrible quality.
Make blankets/quilts out of them. There are websites you can send T-shirts to and they'll quilt them.

My mom did this for me with a bunch of my old shirts and jerseys (its two sided). I use it every day while watching TV before bed. I almost have enough old shirts now for a second one, but she doesn't know she's making it for me yet.
I just got one of these as well for Christmas from my parents. Front and back of every Effect shirt during my four years (08-12) plus the shirt I got for each bowl game. Ridiculously awesome.

The orange shirt would be great if the front didn't have the text under the VA/Hokie Bird logo. The back is alright, but I think it would be cool to have "Laws of Lane" listed (ala VT Game Plan Maroon Effect Shirt) OR have the text blend with the Lane Stadium picture more.
Front of the maroon shirt doesn't work for me. The back logo is cool, but the text makes the whole thing too busy or clashes in my opinion. Too big and blocky. With that slogan, I think the word "STONE" being filled in with Hokie Stone would be good and keep the shirt more simple. I'm not a graphic designer though so who knows.
Also I didn't see last year's shirts until looking them up just now, but they were pretty solid.
I think they both look awesome. My only gripe, as VTCEE pointed out, is the twitter handle. Twitter handles don't need to be on T-shirts.

I tend to agree with you, however I did see one such instance where the twitter handle was pretty well done. At a Toronto Blue Jays game they had shirts for Joey Bats (Bautista) that looked like the Jays jersey on the front and his number on the back with his twitter handle above it. It was pretty clever. From a design perspective and unique perspective I thought it was intriguing. Typically however I vote for no twitter.
As somebody that doesn't and has no intention of starting tweeting, I agree.

I run the Hokie Effect program, so if anyone has any questions about the shirts, I would be glad to answer. The twitter handle will be on the shirts. It replaces the Hokie's Respect logos that were on the preliminary designs. The twitter handle was added at the request of the Athletic Department.
That sucks. You guys did a great job and the shirt design shouldn't be subverted like that.

Much rather it be the Twitter handle than Hokies Respect. Also makes me wonder if Whit is listening to the masses and is easing off on the overwhelming nature of that program.
