Man if they could get that win back from Charlotte.
I'm kind of amazed that they are ahead of Georgia. Who would have imagined that beating them twice would cause an SEC team to drop below VT?
Don't you worry, other polls have them below Georgia. Diamond Sports Rankings, which was approved this year to be considered by the selection committee for tournament selection and official rankings has UGA 11th and Hokies 12th.
ESPN/USA Softball doesnt update until today around noon. Last week there, Hokies were 20th and Georgia was 12th.
Quick question if you happen to know... How many polls are officially approved for consideration by the committee? Is it SA, ESPN, and Diamond? Or are there others as well?
I believe its USA Softball (ESPN), NFCA Coaches Poll, Diamond and then RPI. I am not sure Softball America is considered because it is media voted. NFCA Coaches Poll carries the most weight in terms of polls but RPI carries the most weight overall for tournament selection.
Hokies are 11th in NFCA. UGA is 15th.
RPI is not yet active for this season.
This is the best link I have found because it links to most of the rankings.

D1 Softball is the rankings media teams use when they put the rankings on the scoreboards next to teams
...and they are another one with UGA #11 and Hokies #12. Tells me they aren't watching, aren't looking at metrics or actual results.
We seriously have 5 games over a span of 48 hours???
Last three weekends were similar. Its usually two on Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. All depends on the time slots for each tournament. Schedule also heavily favors the home team each time.
When do we get our own Smithfield Invitational?
or maybe we keep the Crumbl theme going and create the Crumbl Clash
We do have our own Hokie Invite the first weekend in March with Michigan, Radford, BC, Bryant, and JMU. Though it's actually in Salem.
I was unaware... not exactly murderer's row though
Updated today to add Penn State. Teams playing: Boston College, Bryant, James Madison, Michigan, Penn State, Radford and Virginia Tech.
Hokies will face Bryant, James Madison, Michigan, Penn State and Radford
Beat Penn State!
Haven't we pretty much beaten the hell out of them already?
When it comes to wanting to beat Penn State ...

ESPN poll puts UGA #11 and Hokies #12.
Makes sense. Those were two quality losses.
Clemson just took down those highly rated Georgia Bulldogs 10-1 in 5,
lol
Means Georgia and VT will both drop 5 spots as now the Georgia games are not high-quality wins, but the losses to VT are quality losses.

These girls love fighting. They never back down when they get punched in the face. They hit harder๐
Those unis looked so good live tonight
Ladies start the day with 8-0 run rule win over Troy.
Layton pitched 4.1 innings for the win with 5Ks.
Chatfield went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Lynch and Mizelle had two RBIs each as well.
Why did the Tech coach just get tossed in the Auburn game?
Ladies up 4-0.
Ladies up 6-0 in 5th
6-2 in bottom of 5th
6 and 0 against the SEC๐ค
6-2 Final! Mazz goes the distance!
The voters of the rankings don't seem to think it means more.
Ladies beat USC Upstate 11-3 in 5 innings this morning to close a 5-0 weekend.
Hokies are now 16-2 and 6-0 versus the SEC.
Rest assured Auburn will enter the top 25 and leapfrog us in the rankings...
Quality losses for Auburn.
So... I guess there's just a LITTLE bit of softball going on this upcoming weekend in Salem.
