Hokies Wrestling: James Green hired as assistant coach

Green, a 4-time All-American returns to Blacksburg after time as an assistant coach at Nebraska. Green was a resident athlete at SERTC from 2020-22.

That's a great addition to the staff. I think he added a lot to the team while he was with SERTC and now he's got plenty of coaching experience too. For a team with rising aspirations in both folkstyle and freestyle I think he's a perfect fit.

Great get. Has been a big reason that Nebraska has been a top four team the last couple seasons. Still have a coach opening left. A heavyweight coach

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have more coaching news for a few weeks. My hypothesis is the timing has to do with when contracts expire or something to that effect.

Also saw that the wrestling program just received a $1,000,000 gift

Wow! Much deserved, that program has been stellar for the past decade.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

It also includes a matching $1m donation in 2027.
