ESPN 2026 ACC college football preview, predictions, top transfers and more

ESPN puts out so many puff pieces I almost didnt click on this but Bill Connelly did a really good job providing metrics and details in this article on the entire ACC.

With all the portal changes it was a good tool to pick up on names we may not have tracked.

Jacquez White made his Top Ten Transfers

CB Jaquez White, Virginia Tech. While Franklin brought a lot of former Penn State players and commits with him from State College, a Troy transfer might have the biggest early impact. White picked off three passes, broke up 12 more and even made 3.5 TFLs as a do-everything cover man last season.

He put the Hokies in his "A couple breaks away from a run" group. I didnt realize we were 1st in the ACC in returning production(Notre Lame doesnt count). Seems odd considering our QB and several key offensive pieces left. I guess its just in terms of % of starts returning so not true production.

Fourth in the country, no less. Not that it meant anything last year. I suspect this is a stat you actually don't want to be at the extremes of, since success breeds early draft entries.

2026 Season Challenge: TBD
Previous Challenges: Star Wars (2019), Marvel (2020), Batman (2021), Wrasslin' (2022)

I think the returning production counts for guys like Grunkmeyer as QB (aka transfers IN). Even though their play wasnt for us, they are technically still known commodities as active ball players with really college experience. So given that, that's probably why we're higher than one would expect

They'll really get after ya

The offense will have heavy Penn State undertones, for better (efficiency and physicality) or worse (conservatism)

Sounds familiar!
