UVA/NC State game relocated from Brazil to Charlottesville

Oh no the tens of BooHoo fans will be staying home for a game.

The fans that were going are justifiably angry, especially those that did not have travel insurance on their flights. Guessing there just wasnt enough demand especially as flights go up in price due to fuel costs.
There is apparently a Reddit post that said the organizer declared they weren't going to pay the teams so seems like a solid decision not to go if that is true.

I wonder if fans that already booked travel have any recourse or ability to sue the teams or promotors over the game being cancelled. Guessing no. There probably is some language in there about people are responsible for all costs incurred if, blah, blah, blah. Refund for the tickets to the game, maybe, but not flights and hotels and whatnot.

Yes, I'd be royally pissed if I was one of the dozens of UVa fans that booked the trip. Sure there are other activities they can do there, but still, this is really obnoxious to cancel that way.

I'm sure NC State has that handled, being the only school involved in that cross section.

If loluva fans won't attend a game in beautiful downtown C'ville, not sure many of them plan to travel to another country for a football contest. Those that did book will still go and enjoy the adventure without having to bother taking some time out for that contest.

How did a school that is as smart with money as NC State agree to go to Brazil without confirming what their pay day would be. The logistics of shipping all their equipment alone would probably have been close to 6 figures.

I can easily see LOLUVA making that mistake based on some of their other bone headed maneuvers.

uva - the taint of the ACC
Callused perineum is a symptom of being a uva fan

sanity eventually prevails

Danny is always open

but think of the damage two simultaneous football teams could do at a churrascaria

I do art stuff.

I hate UVA as much as the next guy, but ....good. I absolutely hate this trend of college football being played in different countries. What are we doing?

I get Notre Dame going to Ireland, but I agree with you on pretty much every other one.

Unfortunately, and I'm seeing this firsthand working with college programs, everyone is in a pissing match over who can generate the most revenue. In the process, they're slowly eroding the fan experience. Classic "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies."

As a consultant, I love it. Programs and teams will keep running to us for revenue optimization help. As a fan, I hate it. These thousand little cuts are eventually going to kill the fandom.

Just about every GT fan I know (and I live in Atlanta) has traveled to Ireland for at least one the last two games. I'd rather see VT play a premier game abroad than a military bowl, or Charlotte, or whatever. I think all my friends from college would make the trip and we'd make a vacation out of it.

I'd like to see Virginia Tech play in Charlotte every December.

Charlotte in November, Orlando in December as a backup. Selfish but works for me!

You could probably talk me into a game in Munich in late September/early October...

Lol

"Now Miami wants to talk about it." *Cue Enter Sandman*

I updated my blog post about the mileage travelled by each ACC team for conference games.

Prior to today, we could say that VT had the most conference travel except for the schools in California or playing in another country. Now, we have the most travel out of any team not based in California.

uva dropped from 14th to 4th, and NC State dropped from 15th to 7th.

Ehhh the uva fans with flights should probably just go to Brazil and not bother watching the football team that weekend. They would probably have a much better time

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

They'd ask for directions to the football game and never get to the correct stadium anyway.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

There's quite the "sima" to cross with the language barrier between a 'hoo and a Brasillian.

what a dumb idea.

I know, why relocate game? They might have had more attendees in Brazil from curiosity than Charlottesville.

Do we really want some Brazilian's first impression of college football to be uva?

That's like introducing an alien to earth's cuisine by starting with england
