#UVA announces tight end/wide receiver Jake McGee will transfer after he graduates in May. Ouch.— Norm Wood (@normwood) April 25, 2014
With Jake McGee leaving, #UVa has just one returning player with more than two career touchdown receptions.— Drew Goodman (@DrewGoodman89) April 25, 2014
Might have something to do with the hoos trying to move him away from TE:
"I think I've got to be in an offense that's better fitted for my skill set," he said, "that will just allow me to play tight end in a more traditional way where I can really improve the best I can to play at the next level."
McGee will have 1 year of eligibility and has not announced where he's transferring to yet. He did say in the CavsCorner article that he will not go anywhere that uva plays in 2014.

Comments
Apparently word is he freaked out when they said they would like him to play quarterback.
Damn, and we thought we had offensive issues
I can think of more than a few Hokies who COULD have said this under the Stiney regime, but didn't. Just goes to show the culture of family we have created at Tech, where we're all in it together, no matter how hard it gets. UVa? They're apparently only in it for themselves. Hope their 5* recruiticorns take notice.
Recruiticorns...I'm definitely using that. +1
It just makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Non-traditional use of TEs? Maybe London is getting too clever by half - "I'll have the offense play defense, and the defense play offense! No one will see that coming, not even YOU!"
I play... For Me!
Dang, I've got to go watch Sly vs. Drago now. I think it's been over a year
Thank you. I came here tonight and I didnt know what to expect. Ive seen a lot of people hating me and I didnt know what to feel about that, so I guess I didnt like you much either. During this game I seen a lot of changing: the way you felt about me and the way I felt about you. In here there were two teams killing each other. But I guess thats better than million. What Im trying to say is if I can change and you can change everybody can change! I just want to say one thing to my kid who should be home sleeping. Go Hokies, kid! I love you!
-Frank Beamer, November 30th, 2013 to the Scott Stadium crowd in Charlottesville, VA after completing his Decade of Dominance over the Cavaliers
Someone needs to put the heads of Beamer and London on there
that would look more like this...
Word on the street is that he's transferring to University of Florida
Wow, he's not good at decision making. That is one of only a handful of offenses worse than UVA
heard he was heading to stanford
Why he stayed at lol Uva as long as he did is hard to understand, but he did finally wise up & see the light. YOU !!
Quality education and free donuts at team meetings are tough perks to let go of.
Correct, one should never underestimate the importance of a quality education ,especially a degree from public "IVY" number 16 &. The second "YOU". I am sure his degree in anthropology or whatever will take him far in life. I wish him we'll, one less WHO to be concerned with .
His degree is Psychology
After his time there he's probably gonna need a good psychologist and psychiatrist.
And Snow Angels at Spring Practice! Gotta Have That!
ONWARD, LADS!

Never gets old
that one always makes me giggle like a 12 year old school girl
I talked to a girl the other day who said her friend was CavMan. I asked if he was the one who fell off the horse. She got the reference and pointed out that it was the foam head one.
I met the brother of Cavman (the one that did fall off the horse) at Starbucks. He had on a Virginia Tech T-shirt, his daughter is a VT student. Sometimes irony is a beautiful thing.
London: "Where are YOU going?!?"
i love this and agree with other posters...how we haven't seen more of this under stiney is kind of surprising
I think it's a testament to the "family" culture of VT football, and also a testament to the young men we recruit and bring into our program. The players we have, more often then not, are willing to change positions and more to help out the team, rather than just help themselves.
Edit: Oh, and maybe Jake McGee left LOLUVA because he finally realized those young men VT recruits, they'll get after ya
Yeesh. We were all disappointed in the offense's performance more often than not over the last decade, but at what point can we just let Stiney be?
What a load of crap. Just because players weren't saying it publicly. You can be damn sure they were saying it privately.
Our offensive recruiting has fallen off quite a bit. If you think the mandated silence helped, you need to go back and look at our ability to recruit on the O side of the ball. People within and without were talking quite a bit about how bad the offense was.
When Logan gets recruited, its not for his game tape, its for his so year tape, measurables and the realization that he played for a VT offense discrediting his last two years of tape. Suck on that all you Logan haters. Logan is awesome, you clowns giving the coaches blank checks is why our offense sucked and would have sucked way worse without Logan. NFL scouts laugh at our offensive offensive philosophy, execution. Meanwhile you clowns blame LT3. He's done more for our school than 5,000 of you clowns together.
Stiney was gettting it together as an OC. Didn't get the strategic importance of playcalling, how to use matchups to create further mismatches, etc... IMHO. But our problem was Newsome, Newsome, Newsome, and an offensive offensive philosophy which frankly came from the big man. After a while it really has come to diminish the Offensive talent available. Thankfully if we hire another Newsome, Whit will bury him somewhere in the new river valley and hire someone else within a week. Our fans would be bitching and moaning about the bad QB play, and Frank pondering the turnaround, but old Whit will fix that sh** pronto.
Yes there is some hyperbole in what I wrote, but the stuff that some of you guys write. Say it to your wives first, if they don't burst out laughing you can post it here.
Saying what, exactly? When did this conversation become about the players at VT?
Wait, what? Logan getting recruited? I think you mean drafted. Where did Logan show up in this conversation?
Again, no one mentioned LT3 at all... the comment you posted on was saying to ease up on saying Stinespring was the source of all our problems.
I'm confused. Getting it together as coordinator, except for the playcalling, matchups, etc...? So he wasn't getting it together?
I think Frank realized what the problem was when he fired the man who was the problem. Maybe he waited far too long out of a desire for loyalty and continuity, but he eventually pulled the trigger. I don't think he'll be confused.
I'm going to chalk your post up to "it's Friday night before the spring game" so I'm curious to see what you have to say tomorrow when you hopefully make more sense.
"the stuff that some of you guys write. Say it to your wives first, if they don't burst out laughing you can post it here."
maybe take your own advice??
So, the main point of your post is, you really don't like clowns. Did I interpret that correctly?
Wow, drunken, rambling rant....
Soon it might be less football players on UVA's "football team" then the amount of fans UVA has at there spring game!
What did he just say?
oh jeez my bad...need to proofread better next time
I hate how this gif cuts out Ron Simmons' catch phrase. But it does fit the situation.
The press release is more like the cop(ML) from south park standing by this dumpster fire and stating "nothing to see here! Move along. Nothing to see here!"
Or this (RIP Leslie Nielsen)

Nielsen auto-rec
this is all working out in our favor. it'll give london and the administration one more excuse to keep him around through 2015 and avoid paying that buyout.
DID YOU SAY TIGHT END?

Whoa, buddy. Smdh
Went to r/uva to see the reaction and found this gif on their subreddit.
Yes that's a urinal.
Horrifying
that's called a Zima bath
Zima and pinot noir, it'll get after ya.
Well hold on a second here. There's nothin' wrong with a good pinot, especially with a steak or some prime rib.
You mean ON the steak and prime rib as flavoring. Yousa starting to sc-sc-scares me.
Shoot, throw it in a sauce, in a glass, whatever. So long as there's red meat and a decent bottle involved, you can't go wrong.
Please note: enjoying wine and knowing a little bit about it doesn't make you some UVA douche. Enjoying wine, knowing a bit about it, and pretending that you're superior to all other human beings makes you said douche.
Source: John "Plaid Avenger" Boyer
Precisely! Knowing about wine is all about being able to enjoy stuff with friends and de-snob the snobs. You know whose palate is always right, 100% of the time? Yours!
Holla at Geo of Wine class!!!! The best there is!
I think it's spelled "peanut"
That was a Hokie student.
I have it on good authority that was a VERY DRUNK Tech student at Foxfields in like 2007 or so
You can't tell me it wouldn't be poetic if he transferred to Tech to play tight end/wide receiver/quarterback for us...
So I went on the Sabre cause I was bored and felt like seeing what people were saying. Couldn't help trolling a bit (after seeing one guy say London shouldn't have messed up and tried moving McGee around)

YOU!!!
Proud to make this green. Well done, Sir.
This is the best reaction. Nothing more than a simple "Yes." sends a hilarious and powerful smack in the face.
As if it even really f*cking mattered. That's why he's transferring.
WHO !!!
Never even heard of her.
This kid caught a few Russell Wilson passes in HS- now he thinks he can be Heath Miller and end up in Seattle
He's kidding, right?
Jake played QB and safety in high school, not wide receiver or TE. McGee started at Collegiate the year after Russell graduated. The last few QB's of Collegiate school have been pretty good.. Wilson (NFL) - McGee - Wilton Speight (Early enrollee at Michigan this year).
Just had to bahahaha

Headed to Florida.
Link.
I guess it's an improvement from LOLUVA...
Two more wins this year...
at least at UF they block(maybe not the right team but)... much better than snow angels at UVA
Word is that McGee chose Florida because he didn't know what to do with his blue and orange clothes.
