Chew Joins Williams Staff At Virginia Tech
Also, Whit followed him on Twitter, so I had to dig a little bit to find out why. From what our basketball gurus on here were saying earlier, this sounds like a huge hire for us, because he's one of the major recruiters from Buzz's staff at Marquette and should immediately pump some better kids into our program.

Boy Meets World references will get you a leg every time
With that in mind, my friend always used to call her Tobanga
lol, I always did that as well.
I had seen that link but was waiting for HokieSports or the Athletic Department to make it official. Still waiting to see Autry and Reynolds announced as well. Not sure who the third assistant or new director of basketball operations is going to be at this point.
Reynolds will be the director of basketball operations. Got to meet him today, seems like a decent guy and he is familiar with the area apparently.
Yeah, he has a long history with the area. Time at JMU, Randolph Macon and I believe also as a High School coach in Salem. Plus time at 5 of the North Carolina schools before going to Tulane and Air Force.
High school coach out in Hillsville. That was one of the things he brought up when we were talking to him.
He is @CoachChew on twitter for those looking to follow him.
Isaac Chew has strong ties to the Chicago basketball market, as he was raised there and then returned there to coach as well. He began coaching in 2000 at Avila College, where he played basketball as well. He left after a year to get an MBA at Baker University while coaching a couple AAU programs in the Kansas City area. He returned to Avila for another season after completing his degree. He then moved on to Indian Hills Community College, where he helped take the team to the JUCO D1 tournament.
From 2007-2011, Chew was an assistant at Murray State. He helped build the team that would make the NCAA tournament in 2010 and the NIT in 2011 with his outstanding recruiting capabilities. After Murray State, Chew moved on to Missouri for a season, where they would win the Big 12 tournament and had a 2 seed in the NCAA. The following year he moved to Marquette, whom he helped bring in two Top 15 classes in 2013 and 2014. He was recognized for his recruiting excellence by getting invited to the NCAA Achieving Coaching Excellence. He brings a wide experience base to Tech with credibility in the AAU circuit and the Chicago basketball market. Excellent addition to the Virginia Tech staff.
A Murray State coach you say? I tend to like coaches that come from that place
this may be the best giddy excited gif ive seen
It may be a little weird, but that movie is probably Amy Adams at her hottest (I haven't seen American Hustle, yet).
I hope this helps to get some elite recruits to Chews VT.
I thought that the "joke" was funny. Just sayin'.
Pretty good to know he is responsive on Twitter. So far it seems the other Asst doesn't do much on Twitter if I found the right account for Roccaforte.
I noticed the timeline on your comment to him, too. That's always nice to lay down for cred...
Yep, never hurts to establish rapport early. I did the same with Buzz and Whit when they were brought on.
Key word - early. You must have been sitting with Buzz when he made the call.
Now that would have been fun. It would be great to be able to watch the inner workings of a program going through this transition.
It would not have surprised me one bit if ltrepeter had been the one to break the news to Buzz that he had been hired.
Or if ltrepeter had been the one to break the news to VT that they had hired him.
Come to think of it, he does have the same hairstyle as Buzz. Hmm...
In unrelated news, Whoopi Goldberg joins 'The Chew' on ABC.
