Just saw this too. Wonder what kind of house he can buy with that kind of money in Blacksburg.

Q: how does a 14,000 plus sq ft. home with a basketball court and heated garage etc. qualify as 'energy saving?!'

Estimated carbon footprint:

The walls are insulated with Golden Eagle feathers.

energy saving must be a relative term

So, I'm guessing they probably won't be renting a townhouse until they decide which neighborhoods are the best.

I need to become a head coach somewhere...

I'd say Marquette would be a good spot, evidently. Wonder if Wojo has looked at this house yet?

He could even keep the logo...just change the wording.

I know nothing about the real estate for million dollar homes in Blacksburg... so, just out of curiousity, where do people like Beamer & Foster live in Blacksburg?

I believe that Bud lives up on Claytor Lake.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

You could say he owns Claytor Lake

@historyhokie.bsky.social

This should always turn green.

I heard Claytor Lake was formed when Bud stomped his foot one time

Probably on the golf course or out further past campus out on 460? I know Bud Foster has a lake
house at Claytor Lake but I don't believe its his only house.

@AMB4VT

It's pretty easy to figure either of them out really. A simple White Pages search will show you, but in general, Beamer lives near the Blacksburg Country Club. The address I found for Bud shows him in Rocky Mount, VA.

Blacksburg Country Club area.

Homes in that neighborhood go from 350K-1M are almost all over 3000 SQFT. You get a lot of house for your money. I was kind of surprised when I saw Beamer's house and it was in a subdivision. I guess I always pictured him out in the woods somewhere on 20 acres.

http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/frank-beamers-house/view/?service=1

By my estimate from when I used to build houses, that house has got to be close to 11,000 sq ft if there is a full finished basement, could be as much as 15,000 based on the U shaped design.

I believe Frank also has a larger lake house on Lake Oconee, GA. He, Bruce Arians and Ralph Friedgen live down there in the summer.

For that big of a house, he really has no yard.

But if you rotate the photo to see the backyard, he probably has over $100,000 in rock landscaping in what appears to be a stream running from up near the back of the house, down to a pond, then further down to the treeline in a V pattern. I imagine its tied into a water feature up near the house that isn't obvious from the photo.

..and do we really want him to have a yard? or do we want him in his Theater room watching game film if he is at the house?

You really think Frank mows his own lawn? In that neighborhood?

I wasn't implying he does any housework at all. I was thinking more about being outside and not concentrated on football. Lack of a yard means less places for the grandkids to play too, limiting another distraction to Granddad Frank.

Is that a pond or a putting green?

It looks like there is waterfall coming right out of the back of his house. There has to be an indoor pool.

Since you are such a master at finding information, is there anyway (legally and tastefully) to see some of the inside of the house. I feel awfully stalkerish, but I am just curious how ridiculously opulent and tricked out ol' Fancy Gap Frank's house really is.

Wow. Thanks! That was fast.

I think we need to have a KeyPlay Competition to see if there is anything that you cannot find info on. I am in awe of your information gathering abilities, and a little bit scared.

Very tastefully done home - at least what we could tell from that stage of construction. I like the ironwork on the stairway. I've driven by the house before, it doesn't seem as large from the street. The front view is somewhat deceptive. As for the 'small' yard, you almost never see homes with big yards any more, especially if they are of that calibre. It's just more you have to pay the landscaping crew to maintain. Frank did the prudent choice - leave trees all around the home for privacy and lower maintenance. Maybe he spends his relaxation time filling the bird feeders?

my god that yard is immaculate.

Only 8 foot doors? My guess is that Bucky won't be coming over for dinner soon.

In looking at Google Maps, it also looks like Frank may have purchased as many as 7-9 lots to get the house the way it is at the end of the development. I cant get the google map to rotate the satellite image of the backyard to get a better look.

use Bing Maps, they rotate

I'd say it's more like 3 lots, the one the house is on, and the one to either side.

The land behind the house shows a seperate properties but there's no street access and it doesn't look to be be buildable terrain, even with the platted road right of way, because of the stream running right through them. In my experience those types of lots are either owned by the community association or developer and counted as 'green space', or quite freqently they are paired with the lots that do front on the street. So that means he might have bought as own as many as 6 lots, or as few as 3 depending on how those back ones are handled.

I was more thinking a yard for the grandkids to run around. Pretty sure he is in his office more than he is at home.

I bet no one is his family ever has to buy a tree for Christmas.

I don't know why, but I always just assumed Beamer lived in Fox Ridge.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

Parties at 3 AM on a Tuesday, they'll get after ya.

"Exit light..."

Yes they will, but I really like what they're about.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

He used to live back in the neighborhood behind Foxridge actually. I remember as a kid biking along the paths and getting scared by an old Bassett hound barking at me. What do you know but Beamer is walking out to his car and apologizes and tells me to have a good day.

The awesomeness of that story is just so awesome.

I hope you gave him this and said 'Whatever, buddy. Don't let it happen again!'

I was actually over in the area yesterday and drove by Frank's house. There's actually a big addition being done from the corner of his garage and extending left and parallel to the street.

Prior to here he lived in town at Stroubles Mill which is behind Fox Ridge and the new Blacksburg HS site.

Indoor Football Training facility you say?

For the grandkids possibly. I'll have to swing by again in a few weeks and see if Mrs. Cheryl would give me a tour. Or get the cops called on me instead.

You should see his new outdoor basketball court. Maroon and orange pavement of some type. I know, "pics or it didn't happen", but I don't remember where I saw it. I just know it was one of the coolest courts I've seen.
