It's really just Age of Empires simplified. No exploration, just develop your town/village, upgrade it, and attack others. You can join a clan which allows you to receive reinforcements from them and now they have where you can do a clan versus clan war in which the success and failures of the rest of your group dictate the outcome of the war. You can control how you attack but your defense is automated since you can be attacked at any time.

Basically it's this incredibly addictive game that'll allow you to build your own town. You can fight off goblins as well as other players eventually joining or creating a clan to fight against other clans that feature people from around the world. I guess the best example I have is if you watched the tv show Vikings it's kinda like that in a sense that you join forces with other people and go to war with other kingdoms while maintaining your town.

Started playing while sitting at the firehouse at night. Now that we have moved and I'm going back to school and my wife has started her new job I probably play it too much. But I play with a group of firefighter from around the country so we discuss shop a lot.

I'm in and yes it's a sad state of affairs. Tried getting in to "HokieStone1872" and kept getting denied. Reminds me of ol' school Warcraft. And when you're a retro-grouch it's a perfect time-suck. But if you're in an adult clan it's good banter and good donations, leadership. Pretty fun...

Oh, and I came upon a UVA clan member and attacked it out of principle alone. Not much payout and the victory was fairly empty if only for intra-state rivalry enjoyment... Kinda like college football.

It'll take you a little bit of time before you can join a clan after you start playing, but once you do look for a clan named "Hokies". Our shield is red/gold because orange isn't an option I guess.

Our name is simply "Hokies". Red is on the left and gold is on the right. There's a flame-like symbol on the top right. Our donation ratio requirement is 1:4 which is pretty easy to obtain. Our total trophies is 14600 right now.

My 8 year-old son started playing last week at the request of classmates and LOVES it (his first online gaming, which must be some sort of 21st century childhood milestone). I think I will jump on there but will probably need some advice from this forum, since he is an excellent gamer but I am not.

I have a friend who plays. When he talks about it, he abbreviates Clash of Clans and pronounces the 3 letter abbreviation as a word. And uses this word as a verb. It was rather concerning and confusing the first time he mentioned this.
