Andy, if we have all-everything Ronny VanDyke up at the first string, and we have two guys with experience backing him up, why is this only a 2.5/5? I get the back ups aren't spectacular, but I'd think we should be happier than 50%.

I hope RVD lives up to the bill. Surprised to hear that someone like McKinnon cannot move as well in space as I thought he'd be a good fit for whip with his speed/athleticism. I do like the idea of younger guys like Holland Fisher or even Anthony Sheggog (sp on name) as potential starters in the future for his position.

I too am surprised that one of the knocks on McKinnon is inability to move in space, given the results of the winter testing numbers. He's got defensive-end speed.

Bud likes to say sometimes a player can think too much which will cause the feet/speed to follow later. Its almost like he has to play instinctively and not to the book.

I'm probably wrong, but I was thinking that he pretty much has speed in the sense of shooting gaps and running downhill to the ball, but isn't as good with lateral/sideline to sideline speed and turning and running with receivers.

Because for as much as the coaches hope RVD is the guy, he still hasn't done it on the field. That's the hesitation in making that number any higher.
Also, my number system is not very scientific.

has to bring that speed to the field not the track

R-V-D!
Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem saying WHIP the correct way?
