Benedictine junior DE Clelin Ferrell will make his college announcement tomorrow at 3:15. VT, Clemson, S. Carolina considered favorites.β Eric Kolenich (@EricKolenichRTD) June 3, 2014
After months and months of recruitnicks saying he was a VT lean, it seems like Clemson is the favorite now.

If he chooses us, he chooses us. If he doesn't, he doesn't.
Either way, we're going to have a better overall defense than either Clemson or S. Carolina going forward.
Well said. So Clemson made a push this past week. Neat. There is still a long time between now and signing day, regardless of whether he "commits" to the Hokies tomorrow. Let's hope he picks the good guys.
You get him, Sweat and Taylor, we have the best DE corps in the ACC, no doubt.
So what happens when we miss on all three =( At least Ekanem should break a streak this year: we haven't had a single 4* or higher DE play DE for his career at VT since Jason Worilds. Meaning we haven't signed a 4* DE who contributed at that position in 8 years. Like I said, hopefully Ekanem breaks that combo, it's at least looking like he will.
This stat is head-shaking in its sobering reality. Hopefully the trend is reversed and we start stockpiling DE talent.
Yeah, I love our D coaching. Our D recruiting though, is miserable. A head man who is, at best, a terrible recruiter, combined with only having one consistently good recruiter on the D side of the ball leads to a lot of holes to fill and a lot of position shuffling, creating an undersized defense. It is what it is, though.
I feel like Frank and the long-term staff members have taken VT football to a crossroads. They've made us a very respectable program, good but not elite. At this point, even if we see very little improvement over the next few years, I'm confident that Whit will make sure our football program continues at least trying to take that next step.
Frank is better than a terrible recruiter, no he's not amazing but he's been a heck of lot better than terrible over the years. And I disagree with Bud, I'm definitely NOT ready to see him go.
Oh god no. I don't want to lose Bud or Torrian at all ever, they're both phenomenal. I'm honestly not even that concerned over us losing front-seven recruits. My point is more that, while it's unfortunate, it hasn't mattered to the productivity of our defense; we've been very, very good with almost all 3* starters.
I suppose it's just an opinion thing, but most head coaches in modern college football are closers, or at least good recruiters. It's more important than being a great game-day coach as long as you understand delegation. What major recruit has Frank closed on? The last good recruiting story I remember with Frank is Macho Harris. Again, I'm not saying I want Frank gone. He's a legend, he's the architect of our program, and he's the reason we expect so much. I'm looking forward to him leaving on his own terms, specifically because I want to see what Whit does with the program, not because I want change for change's sake.
Frank helped close the deal on Jonathan McLaughlin, who will probably end up as a 4-year starter at tackle. I think it would be anything but naive to say he didn't have a hand in bringing Kendall Fuller to Tech.
I get the frustration, but don't expect things to change soon. Unless there's a power struggle and Frank doesn't leave on his own terms, he'll be here to coach at Bristol. Also, don't give up on Frank. He's had to rebuild the program from down years before, and has. He did it with the same (or perhaps lesser) caliber of player.
Definitely agree there's no way that Frank Beamer is not the head coach through the end of his current contract going to the end of the 2016 season. I personally believe in a perfect world Frank Beamer gets 250 Virginia Tech wins and decides to relax in his 70s after his current contract ends.
As far as recruiting there is still Josh Sweat out there who VT still has a shot. Also at DE there's Darrell Taylor, Gaines, Trevion Hill, and Dalton.
I do acknowledge though that Beamer isn't the closer recruiter that some of the other younger CEO head coaches. I do believe in Beamer, and this staff, call pull together a good run and a couple of successful seasons to rebuild. If there's good QB play I could see VT get 9 wins with the schedule this year. I think 2015 could be a really special year for VT.
Always glad TKP community is the most sane and least inclined to pick up a pitchfork VT message board community.
We have the winningest active head coach in college football and people still complain.
I think Frank Beamer has earned the right to decide when he wants to go within reason. In his book he states that he will know when to quit so I'm going to trust his judgement. I was just saying it seems as if after the 2016 season could be a storybook ending.
I don't think people are complaining about having the winningest active head coach in college football but possibly wondering about the future and looking at trends of other legendary head coaches as they got older.
And lets see how that worked out for others in simlar situation to Beamer.
Paterno 3 National Championships Forced Out after saying would retire when he wanted
Bowden 2 National Championships (12 ACC) Forced Out after saying would retire when he wanted
Brown 1 National Championship Forced Out after saying would retire when he wanted
That Paterno should have one heck of an * after it. I doubt they would have forced him out under normal circumstances.
Yea but in the Last 10 Season a record against Top 25 teams of 22-19, while 4-11 vs Top 10 Teams
Oh no bro. Still the WINNINGEST active head coach.
Need I remind you that most teams don't have a winning record against teams ranked in the top 10? As of 2010, there was only one:
USC-(76-74-7)--0.50637
Beamer's record of 4-11 (0.26667) against Top 10 teams over the past 10 seasons would put him at #25 on the list between Mississippi State and Stanford. This is also much better than Virginia Tech's overall record of (8-46-0)--0.14815 which is good for #60 on the list.
I've always hated that statistic. Especially the record against Top 5 teams. It is the most vague and misleading way you can portray a program or coach. Teams are in the Top 5 for a reason, they're really good and it should not be used in a negative way if your team isn't close to the same ranking. Mike Giannotto did a nice breakdown of Beamer's and other premier coach's records verses top teams based on lots of different metrics.
When you factor out when Tech wasn't ranked or severely "outmatched" the number becomes a lot less damning. The same went for the other coaches who had any significant years coached.
Another thing I don't like about the statistic, is it says nothing about the game, really. There were games like LSU trouncing us, but a lot of those top opponents were close games throughout, and we just wound up on the losing end.
What really gets me is when people like to routinely bring out the stat 'Beamer only has 1 win against a team that finished Top 10'.
Well no shit. By winning that game, we knocked said team out of the Top 10. We've also never beaten a team that finished a season undefeated. Woe is us.
Or better yet, when people like to point out a loss in the BCS Championship Game or a BCS Bowl Game. My response is typically, "And what was your team doing? Were they one of the 10 teams that got to play in those caliber of games? Didn't think so."
lol yeah... for a few years there I had Miami fans trying to talk shit about how we kept losing in the BCS, and all I could do was laugh at them, cause they didn't even make a bowl those years.
Or the year that we lost to JMU. ACC fans LOVE to rail on us for that one, completely ignoring the fact we RAN THE F'N TABLE in ACC play that season.
Since 1995 through the Bama game last year based on USA today rankings/ whatever I could find in the recaps going back
Overall vs ranked teams: 39-28
Avg rank of VT at game time: 10.6
Avg rank of opponent at game time: 14
6-14 vs opponents ranked #1-10
25-6 vs opponents ranked #11-20
33-13 vs opponents ranked #11-25
Jon McLaughlin was an absolutely phenomenal eval and pickup. Pulling a low 3* OT whose only other offers are UVA, UConn, and ECU isn't exactly impressive though. Evaluation is a very important part of recruiting, and I believe we have one of the very best staffs in the country at evaluating talent. However, it just doesn't matter that much when we can't get them to the Burg. Our brand in the state of Virginia is absolutely tarnished at best recruiting-wise. Otherwise, how do you explain missing out on 68/100 of the top 10 players in VA in the last 10 years, with a very real possibility of completely whiffing or going 1/10 this year? As for Kendall, his recruiter was one of the best recruiters on our staff, happens to be Kendall's position coach, and the best one in the country at that position. Kendall also had the opportunity to play college football with his brother. I'm sure Frank was a factor, I wouldn't be surprised if Frank's a factor in the recruitment of every single one of our scholarship players, which I don't believe of every head coach for sure. But every head coach in the country is involved in the recruitment of the 5* recruits they land.
Understand, I'm not trying to smear Frank at all, everyone has strengths and weaknesses, recruiting's just not one of Frank's strengths, which he's finally made up for by placing stronger recruiters in other positions on his staff. But a lot of the top kids we led for that ended up going elsewhere were swayed by charismatic head coaches; Kirven, Hand, Holmes, Nnadi... I don't expect to beat Bama, OSU, and FSU for recruits, but even UNC was eating our lunch until Shane came in and backed up Stiney's desire for more recruiting support. I think Moorehead, Loeffler, Shane, Grimes, Searels were all very, very good recruiting hires, and Frank deserves all the credit in the world for those decisions. Of course as VT we have a lot of disadvantages in resources and history compared to a lot of programs, but it's unacceptable to basically cede your home state to any other major program that feels like coming in. Especially when your absolutely atrociously terrible rival in-state isn't. Luckily in 2012 we mostly kept control of VA, but this year and last year we've started looking heavily out of state, where we're somehow generally still considered an elite program.
Does all of that even matter though? Our results on the field are the only thing that matters in the end. If we have the worst-rated recruiting class in the country every single year but compete in the playoffs, that'd make our coaching staff one of the best in the country in my opinion, but there'd still be people exclaiming 'what if?' regardless.
Also I'm not frustrated with the team, I'm surprised that people on the big pay recruiting sites are yelling for coaches' heads for recruiting misses; it's not a new thing, we've been consistently average at best at recruiting for a long time. We've won, and won a lot, with lower rated players for a long time. I fully expect us to have a 9 win season this year, and I'm actually predicting us to beat OSU and throw some random game we probably shouldn't to finish with a 1-loss regular season. I assume Pitt or UNC will be the hump.
I get frustrated missing out on top notch talent in VA too. Let's just give Frank his 2 more years and thank him for what he's done. He's not likely to change his style and become a fantastic recruiter. When he's gone, probably after 2016, we can go get a flashy new coach if that's what Whit sees fit. I imagine Whit won't mess around: see basketball hire.
For sure. I'm gonna miss the hell out of Frank when he's gone, he's been an absolutely incredible coach and ambassador for the program. I already miss Blacksburg an absurd amount, haven't been to a game in the 'burg since 2007 thanks to moving to Seattle... Thank god my pops lives in Atlanta, so I get to see us beat up on the jackets down there every couple years.
ooooooooo...2007? yea 2 years in a row of going to Lane Stadium and not seeing it sold out. (Selling Tickets to donors for a sellout to not show up doesn't count) 3 years of poor scheduled home games kinda sucks. And 2 years of sitting through awful offense, yea you've missed so much.
But a game against those jackets is always fun
It's been proven over and over again that "star ratings" are only one factor in determining if a player becomes a star at the collegiate level and goes on to the NFL. Here's a post I put up earlier this year listing all of the 4 and 5 star players from Virginia. Just eyeballing it, roughly 30% of these guys ended up mattering. IMHO, judging a high school athlete by his star rating is the equivalent of judging a high school student by his SAT score.
I don't understand where this is coming from. Since VT joined the ACC: 4 ACC Championships, 5 BCS Bowl Appearances, 8 10-win seasons & ending the year in top 25, Top 10 in # of players sent to NFL, 10 straight years of beating your "rival" school...all while graduating 80% of players (the 20% includes those who left early to go to NFL) and running a clean program. We have plenty of tradition and with the new indoor practice facility, we have all the resources we need (for now).
All of these things are true. All of them. That's exactly my point, thank you. We are a very good football program, we just don't recruit traditionally well, and it's created an atmosphere of 'the sky is falling' among the public fanbase. I'm saying it's unfortunate, but it doesn't matter, because we succeed regardless.
Also: 30% is a hilariously hilariously higher success rate than you'll find among the 1-3* players. Just sayin'.
Aaannd... just because a Blue Chip VA kid didn't work out at another school doesn't mean he wouldn't have been great at VT.
I know the word when we picked him up was that Searels was a strong recruiter, but I have to say that I have not seen anything from him yet on the recruiting front. I was hoping that he would pick up where Grimes left off, but I haven't heard of one top recruit that he has been working. I realize that OL isn't a huge position of need at the moment, but I would have thought that we would hear something.
Please, someone with knowledge more plentiful than mine, reassure me that he is working the scene. We need him to be a closer.
We'll find out shortly when Austin Clark commits.
Searels might turn out to be a terrific recruiter, but Texas recruits itself. He'll have his work cut out for him at VT.
Grimes is a great recruiter, just looking at the guys he brought in at Auburn proves that. Greg Robinson, #2 pick in the draft, was his guy.
At VT, though, Grimes struck out in his first year with his A-list (Spain, Kelleher, Prince, Thomas, Ruble and maybe Moss). He then went and identified a very nice B-list of prospects and signed all but Taylor. It was an excellent demonstration of evaluation.
But Grimes also laid the groundwork for this class, even though we only need a few. Without a doubt, he has been working Clark, Burrell, Chafin, and Brown when he left. We'll see if Searels can land any of those guys (it doesn't look great), but its worth noting that we only have 2 or 3 spots. He may do he same thing Grimes did, whiff on his A list and evaluate some solid guys to fill the slots over the summer.
There is a 100% chance that he is actively involved in the recruitment of all our OL targets.
Wrong. Stephen Friday and Zach McCray were both four star recruits. Neither lived up to expectations, but you can't contend that they didn't land one.
Friday was from the 2005 class, a year before. And my specific caveat is that they had some sort of significant career contribution-McCray's only complete year on defense featured 14 tackles for the year, which doesn't really seem like a significant contribution for a 4* recruit who LSU wanted badly. My point is mostly that we haven't recruited DE well, and when we have, they've mostly been moved to other positions. DT primarily, but in the case of McCray, TE.
McCray was a non-factor at DE, but I think Friday had something like 8 sacks his senior season right?
It's a bit of a Catch-22 too. Bud's system doesn't put many front-seven guys into the NFL, thus many highly regarded prospects with NFL potential sign and play in a more traditional scheme. On the other hand, Tech has Bud Foster, who almost always fields one of college football's best defenses.
There's more to it than that, but I think that's why you see top guys head elsewhere.
I honestly believe with the new staff, and its commitment to recruiting, if Virginia Tech wins games and shows the program isn't fading, it will sign more top prospects.
I agree; I'm not trying to sound like a negative Nancy or anything, I just feel like our defensive coaches, Torrian excepted, have proven that they're MUCH better coaches than recruiters. It's also interesting seeing us moving more toward position coaches recruiting their own players, which I like a lot. I can't really say with the information available, but if I remember correctly, a lot of that earlier recruiting was region-based responsibility instead, when most teams seem to be trending the opposite way now. More making observations than judgments, I'm actually very excited about the team this year, and think our DEs will be very good. It's just fun to think of what could have been with guys like Kirven, Hand, etc.
I wonder how much of Torrian is recruiting more than just his insane track record of putting DBs in the NFL. It's just too bad his record for CBs taken in the draft in consecutive years will be snapped next year since Facyson and Fuller are not eligible.
It was broken when both Kyle Fuller and Exum decided to stay for their senior years.
It was snapped last year when our entire secondary returned for their JR/SR seasons. I was holding out hope that Alonzo Tweedy would keep the streak alive (at least technically) by going as a safety in the late rounds, but Corey Fuller and Vinston Painter were our only two selections in 2013. Next year Jarrett and Bonner are the only projected starters who will be draft eligible, and I'd guess that Jarrett is drafted with a strong enough season. Bonner might also sneak in if he has a really good season, but he's not as likely to be drafted imo.
Bud foster is the reason why I never worry about what players we don't sign on defense. He figures it out regardless. Best in the business and he spoils us.
Now if we miss on a big time offensive player, i cry a little.
Lets pretend for a moment that Bud went to South Carolina when the OBC offered, would he have trouble bringing in top talent like Clowney? I know the shceme thing has been brought up, but USC runs a similar scheme with Ward down there.
It's his decision. But Clelin is better off with Virginia Tech. He can join his classmate Raymon and continue the tradition of great VT defenses.
You have folks on the other boards saying we should be sending Wiles on his way because some recruit is going to Clemson . We have a great Defensive staff and who in their right mind would want to change that side of the ball . If I listed all the 4-5 star guys that ended up not doing anything I would be here all night, both for us and others who left Newsome , Sims , Hailes and all the meltdowns that came with them . Our problems is and has been the Offense for a long time and we have a short window to get that fixed and it has to start in 2014 . We sold the new staff and have recruited well over there but we have to have results that show we are moving in the right direction . I think we are moving in the right direction and with Whit I trust we will move forward . We need to have a very solid year recruiting but we have to get better on offense and we can't wait 3 years like some think we need results and I think Lefty knows that and that is why we all the emphasize QB transfer ect . Time to put up or shut up the offense is on Frank period because he did not do anything for years . We scored 13 points at home against Duke 16 at UVA and 15 at ECU and 13 against UCLA and that is with and elite defense that gives you field position. That folks is pitiful and until that trend changed we will have problems recruiting.
If only recruiting prospects were this easy (NCAA Franchise, you will be missed):

i always just simulated all that stuff, shit got way too in depth for me.
I always create 1-3 super prospects and use most of my points to go after them.
So UVA's recruiting strategy?
Haha basically except my recruits don't turn out to be busts.
Upvote!

the original johnny football
Keanu starred as a QB that played for Ohio State AND FSU; impressive football career!
Keanu for Heisman??!!
Hoping this means he isn't going to Clemson.
If he declares to Clemson, so be it. Just a shame we'd end up beating him a couple times down in Charlotte in the future.
Not going to get wrapped up in who does or doesn't want to be a Hokie in June. Signing day is in February, and as we all know, commitments before the season starts are still very much up for grabs in the big picture. If he commits to Clemson or S.Carolina today, he still may end up with the Hokies in February, much like if he commits to us today, he could still end up somewhere else, and with this day and age, you almost have to expect it. Absolutely nothing against the kids in play, its just the environment we're in right now.
Trying not to get my hopes up, but he did also tweet out a top seven list last night and was retweeting a bunch of pro USC-E tweets/ stops overanalyizing teenager social media
Remember when 247 said that Brady Taylor was a UK lock back in July? We all saw how that worked out (disregarding the fact that he ended up at anOSU.)
If we beat Ohio State and start running the table a lot of these instate guys could be swayed our way. Its all about winning. If Dadi starts tearing it up on the line and ends up being a future 1st rounder it will only help convince these talented players to stay in state and win one here.
We had one of the best recruiting classes ever last year and the year before was also solid. Think about a few of the guys we got at the end last year. Bronson came out of nowhere and could be a good one. Also Durkin and Isiah Ford were both big time recruits who decommitted and join the good guys.
Part of the problem with that argument though is that Dadi, even if he does have a beast season, is an NFL tweener at best and reinforces the notion that VT front seven players can't play their natural position in the NFL. I have to think this is one of, if not the biggest reason, that recruits tend to sway away from a program when they can't see a sure fire NFL path. At this point VT can only really offer that to DBs and maybe running backs.
Bud has a defense that is based on a combination of speed and solid strength based fundamentals, that relies on the secondary absolutely shutting the opponent down while the front 7 buzzes around disrupting everything around the LOS. We don't, nor do we need to, rely on the big mammoth linemen and linebackers to dominate the game 1-on-1 battles to win games. This might eliminate us from the truly elite players year after year, but also puts us in a spot where we can afford to pick and choose our guys from the 2nd tier that will help us remain an elite unit through the years.
ohh myy goodness this is epic. I agree 1000000% yes we might miss on the top mammoth guys for D-Line and stuff but we always find the guys that fit our system. Yes it will be awesome to land a top 5 D-line player but I am not worried because year after year BF finds a way to make it work. Heck last year we had 2 freshman playing and they played unreal it was like the bash brothers out there.
Also the top D-Line recruits might not want to come here because of the scheme and the overall effort they have to put in for the scheme to work. BF's defense relies of the front 4 to make an absolute mess at the line and then our db's and lb's fly all over the field to finish the play.
That is a lot to ask for from a 280+ lb kid. You saw how timmy jernigan looked gassed during the national title game, it was because he was being asked to become a hybrid de/lb and he was not use to doing it. BF's defense might not be as complex as other but it asks 120% every play from every player and sometimes the 5* swagged out player might want to pretend he is eating cereal after making a big play instead of getting lined up ready to take his man out back....
There's a reason we have so many tweeners over the years at VT. We take the undersized kids, get them to buy into playing their balls off for one of the best defensive minds in the game and, because its college where you AREN'T inundated with players that have spent the last 10 years of their lives working with EXPENSIVE personal trainers and dedicating their lives to putting bulk on their bodies while still maintaining quickness, we're able to tilt the field in our direction. These kids who come here, like the Adibis, Vince Hall, Cody Grimm, etc, they come into the program as kids who are extremely talented, but whose recruiting rankings suffer because they aren't 6'5 and 280lbs of muscle that can run a 4.3 40. But that's ok, because those aren't the kinds of players who excel here.
ohhh godd we really did become best friends!
Winning solves a world of problems. Re-focused recruiting, plus getting back to 10 win seasons I think brings in more 4* & 5* guys.
He committed to Clemson, not surprised. On to the next one.
Thanks goodness Sweat and Fullwood are still out there.
Yeahhhhh they're not coming here.
As of now VT is in good shape with both. That could change but to guarantee that they aren't coming here is a little over the top.
A little over the top or just realistic? I actually didn't guarantee anything in that post, but now that I think about it, I am 100% guaranteeing that Sweat doesn't come here. I wouldn't go as far with Fullwood, but it is hilariously optimistic to think that we have a decent chance at either of them. Nowadays, if you're a 5 star player on the east coast, you go to a top an SEC team, Clemson, FSU, or Ohio State. And please don't come back with a Kendall Fuller comment; he defines outlier given our relationship with that family.
yeah man, I'm really not liking your negativity...take that shi* someplace else
It's kind of funny because both Fullwood and Sweat have already said that Tech has a very good chance and Sweat's only OV scheduled so far is Tech. Is it optimistic to think that we land 1 or both? Definitely. Is is hilariously optimistic? No way.
Yeah, I'm not optimistic about this years recruiting at all, but I think it will be highlighted by Sweat and at least one other really high profile OOS DE recruit.
Oh my god someone that's levelheaded and doesn't mistake realism for negativity?!?!
It's called lip service dude...
I realize that, but we don't know that they really aren't considering VT. Could they not be? Sure but we do know that (unless you have a inside source to the family or friends.)
What are you drinking???
That sux- really hoping that BHS would be sending another kid to join his fellow Cadets in B-Burg.
Unfortunate, but unsurprising. Was hoping the pipeline+Shane would give us a shot, but what highly rated defensive ends have we signed that actually played DE?
Friday was the lowest possible 4* on Rivals at a 5.8. Adjepong was rated a high 4* (5.9), and was therefore the highest rated DE we've signed and played at DE in the entire Rivals era. Ekanem's the only one we've signed and kept at DE recently, and he was also the lowest possible 4* on Rivals; it's possible his injury affected his ranking, but his injury also took away our competition in that race, so... That's the sum total of all of our 4* DEs we've signed and kept at DE since 2002. Thirteen years of recruiting=3 low-mid 4*s. I wasn't around for his recruitment, but am I correct in assuming Cornell's the highest rated DE we've signed in the last 20 years?
Regardless, I Find it incredibly interesting that we've signed a sum total of TWO 4* DEs that have played out their career for us. At a 50% NFL success rate. I hope Ek does similarly well to Worilds, he was one of my favorite players the entire time he was on roster, and I've have loved to have him one more year...
For this year, I really hope we can pull someof the guys left on our list. History says Sweat goes elsewhere, though I think we have a 30-50% shot at him. Trevon Hill got slow played and has been favoring UNC because of it, with us trying to claw our way back in now. Taylor's apparently starting to become enamored of the out-of-state schools, now that he's getting significant national attention. Jalen Dalton, barring a huge upset that our staff probably isn't capable of pulling, is going to UNC; he grew up there and loves the in-state school, even with parents from the NRV. Hoshun Gaines was supposed to be all VT, but now he's pushing his recruitment further out since he's received an offer from UF.
Also Dozier and Fullwood. I bet we land 2-4 of our targets.
Probably a wise bet, but odds are Fullwood goes to OSU.
The Crystal Ball be flawed.
Oh I agree, but the point is still true and has nothing to do with said ball.
I for one am tired of all these planned ANNOUNCEMENTS! They are getting old. Especially when said attention seeking recruit later changes his mind or turns out to be a bust. The best don't need to hype up their decision.
Downvoted why?
I don't like hating on recruits for being attention seeking, etc. All the sudden after a recruit commits somewhere else he's attention seeking, blah blah blah. If he had committed to VT he'd be the greatest person in the history of the world with the highest integrity, etc. I don't think it shows well for any of us when a poster makes a comment like that. The whole point of having a presser is because you want to say something important once instead of over and over to individuals.
I am not hating on any recruit. I have issues with how media is used or misused. Too many fans obsess over these things and if given a stage a recruit's true character will show. Announcing that you are about to announce sends what message? Are you looking to get some last minute offer from the coaches? Are you trying to tell everyone that they should back off after the announcement? Are you trying to hype up the announcement? I guess I am not a big enough football fan to think these announcement events from 17-18 year olds are important.
so did he announce? or give a time for his announcement?
He committed to Clemson.
This is the tweet:
No disrespect, but I cannot turkey leg your comment.
I understand.
That hashtag truly baffles me. Why would you commit to a school because you add depth?
I get that's not the sole reason for his decision, but it still strikes me as an odd comment.
I believe he's referencing the 20 commits Clemson has.
Its also a rap song the football team produced about 2 years ago
I'm more baffled by the capitalization of every word.
I'm even more baffled at how these guys commit to schools, claim to love them so much and then call Clemson U. , The University of Clemson.
Who was it a while ago who committed to VT, and called it the University of Va Tech?
tyrod did for one, there's been others
Tyrod. Exactly. Thanks, B.C.
In Tyrod's defense, he later said in an interview the he used "University of .... Virginia Tech" to throw people off because he was choosing between Virginia Tech and the University of Florida.
He basically pulled a troll-job on UF.... as well as some stupid Hoos who thought they still had a chance
I maintain that a better troll job would have been "Virginia...(long pause/stunned silence)...Tech. LOLUVA."
No need to ever defend Tyrod. He is ALL Hokie and a stand up guy.
More about how often it happens, than who does it.
