So anyone going to the game? Its this Saturday in Jacksonville at 6pm. I will be there and will be as loud as I can be! I promise to take pictures and hopefully some videos, if there is a nip slip I apologize. If anyone is going look for the VT tent with an american flag flying from it and I will be there.
And what are some thoughts on the US of A so far? Think we get out of the group or will we go 0-3.
I will be sitting in the outlaw section, so that will be an amazing experience as anyone who follows the us of A will know it gets rowdy there.

I ALMOST went down to Jacksonville for this. I had a vendor based out of SC tell me that if I could get down to his place, he'd pay my way to accompany them to the game. If it wasn't such a long trip I'd have easily done it.
I am really thinking it's 50/50 for getting out of the group. Here's why.
Ghana has looked bad. We should beat them. If we don't, game over.
Portugal is such a toss up for me right now. I think they're overrated by FIFA right now, and I think the US squad is going to be a challenge for them. My gut tells me we use that game to show that we're for real.
Germany. Well, they were my favorites to win it all, and might still be. BUT. They have a definite weakness in the defensive midfield due to injuries, and the central defenders have looked out of sync. I still don't think we can steal a point from them, but if we get lucky, maybe Bradley can take advantage of that hole they've got in the middle of the park.
Oh, also, Ronaldo has a few injury issues himself. Could be the break we (and the rest of the group) needs.

While the team looks much better offensively than in the past, we're also giving up way too many chances on defense. I know we're "experimenting" with our back 4, but Turkey exploited the gaps b/w the fullbacks and the mids. If that was against Portugal or Germany, the score would've been 4 - 2....them.
Since this is mostly a football board, I'll use the analogy of: we abandoned the Beamer way of playing (control the ball, play defense) and have gone with the Dabo approach (what's defense? just score more than the other team). It'll make watching our games more entertaining, but it's never been our style.
I say we have a 35% chance of making it out of the group of death (mostly depending on how healthy Ronaldo is). Any other group and I would be almost certain we'd be one of the top 2.

with Beasley at LFB, our back 4 looked a lot better...amazing what some experience (even if right footed) can do back there. i know he's old, but we fell apart on the back as soon as Chandler and Gonzalez came on...i hope Beasley can give us 270 minutes in group play. if he can, we may be in great shape!

Sections 146 to 150! There's already 39k tickets sold so it should be more people than at jags games.. and of course more people than UVA had for their whole season.
I'm pretty sure there are actually more than that sold. I saw that number a few days ago and they hadn't even opened up a lot of the upper deck at that point. Now if you check ticketmaster the upper deck seats are the only ones available.
Latest I've heard is 41k, with 3 days to go and walk-ups. We could be looking at 50k+.

I was at the USA v. Scotland friendly in 2012 and it was an incredible experience. The entire lower bowl was full and some in the upper deck. Say what you want about Jax but they sure do know how to party and love them some soccer.
Not to mention, we won and Bradley had a screamer. Look up the highlights.
