Class of 2014 3-star TE recruit Avery Edwards who signed with UNC on signing day was arrested for alleged felony larceny.
Here's the article and his 247 profile:

Edwards also held an offer from VT so safe to say we dodged a bullet on this one.

Dodged a bullet... anyone? Anyone?
Shame. Would've made an excellent 3-4 star QB.
From the article:
You don't just 'mistakenly' steal $53,000 worth of jewelry. I want to know the whole story.
Those were my thoughts exactly. How is stealing $53k, more than what a lot of people make in a year, a mistake?!
I thought Fedora was saying the mistake was coming to UNC. Had he gone to an SEC school, he would have had a nice new car for a faster get away.
Yeah, and Roy Williams had no idea of the academic fraud going on at UNC throughout his tenure
That made me think of this

This isn't stealing crablegs, or trying to stick up a drugdealer in a shortsighted plan for more weed. Who is this guy, Danny Ocean? $53K?
Danny Ocean wouldn't get caught so easily
Admittedly, the movie starts with him getting out of jail....
Of course, wasn't he the fall guy for it all? So, he only gets caught when he wants to get caught.
The hits keep coming for UNC.
And to think, they had already paid for his classes to be taken for him.
He already had an A, all he had to do was to stay out of trouble. Now he cant be on the honor roll.
How I imagine UNC classes...
His papers were already written for next summer's AFAM courses!
Its ok they can change the names.. its easy. I wonder if they use size 13 for their .'s and size 12 for text.. it sure helps with the page requirements.
"School officials working with the family to figure the best way to go forward ". This is a crock of S**t and typical response from unc officials. If this kid stole 53,000 he is a criminal & should be dismissed immediately. I am tired of the excuse [ he is a kid and just made a mistake] . Unc looking for a way to justify anything that makes the school look bad. News flash ,for Fedora a "good kid " does not steal 53,000 dollars.
There is process to the legal system. It starts with innocent until proven guilty. I have no problem with the school waiting to see if he is actually guilty of what he is right now just getting charged with.
That being said, its not looking good when they find stolen goods after a search warrent.
Ehhh... not quite.
Most of the time, the kid is immediately suspended from the team once charges like this come out, and then they'll make the decision on whether or not to uphold the suspension, dismiss the suspension, or kick the kid off the team or out of school after the court proceedings are underway and guilt is decided. I know felony charges at VT is an immediate suspension (as we saw with Cody 'Thug Kicker' Journell) but it appears this is not the case at UNC, where Fedora is still deciding on what to do.
With that said, saw the kid is from Raleigh and went to Ravenscroft. Having played them numerous times back in the day, and knowing my wife went there for a year before getting the hell out, I'll just leave it at this... Not surprised to hear this is happening to a kid from that school.
What timing of this news.. if anything the NCAA should see that UNC is losing control of its football & basketball teams at an alarming rate and do something about it. I mean 53k worth of jewelry and its not even around Christmas or a major holiday.
I am tired of hearing the kid made a mistake and he will learn.. there comes a time when you look at the crime and decide from that. A 53k mistake and a 2k mistake are two completely different things, the first is whack.
How long before the NCAA has to rule that UNC has lost institutional control over their academic and athletic programs? The AFAM scandal has made the entire university a laughing stock.
The real question is if the NCAA finally gets up the courage to hit them hard, what impact does that have on the ACC?
If anything it really makes a case to ND to join the ACC fully and take UNC's part. I know it has to do with $$$ and ND not wanting to give up nbc contract but it needs to happen.
It seems unc has taken Miamis place as the Cesspool of college athletics.
