Miami Football Ad: "GO TO FEWER GAMES!"

"GO TO FEWER GAMES!"

1. LOL

2. This is an outside the box approach that might pay off for Miami. It seems the Hurricanes' brass understands their fanbase; they don't show up to games. By packaging an FSU ticket with a UNC one, Miami could conceivably sell more tickets to those games, and have the stadium look less bare for two games that'll be at least regionally televised. It's a bit of an all-or-nothing approach, as the FSU ticket is the major draw, so the rest of the home games will probably be empty. However, Miami changing the status quo, even a little bit, will help change attendance perception in the long run.

3. It's highly possible folks buy the mini-plan just for the FSU ticket.

Wow. Well, I guess that's one way to do it.

Reminds me of the clips in "The U" where they show the Burger King promotion to get people to get game tickets.

All in all, a sad state of affairs in South Beach

What this doesn't mention is that Miami will also pay off the broadcasters to talk about how "back" fan involvement is during those 2 games. Y'know, the same kind of "back" their football team annually is.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I understand why they are doing it, but that's just sad. It's got to be hard for these "big city" teams that use off campus stadiums. If I was a student there, I could understand not wanting to deal with the logistics/ cost of getting to and from a game. At the same time you've got to figure there are a lot of alumni in the area that could go to the games. I know I would be a season ticket holder if Tech played near NOVA.

I guess it just comes down to the quality of your fans. I know the best seat in the house is anywhere in the house. Not on my couch.

I would actually venture to guess there are relatively few Miami alum in that area. Miami is a small private school (2013-2014 total undergrad costs show $59k a year to attend).

Most Miami alum get the hell away from that part of south Florida. It's not like Nova which is an extremely desirable area to live.

wait, what? NoVA is a desirable area to live in? I thought it was just a necessary evil due to the density of good jobs...

I would assume that "high number of good jobs" appears on a lot of checklists when looking for a place to live. I guess more "desirable" in the sense that lots of people want to live there, if only for the jobs. Hence why you find a lot of alum from many good schools there.

Nobody lives in NoVa, its too crowded

People love to bitch about NOVA just because of the traffic and how arrogant everyone is. I know I used to. But then you graduate and realize that it's an awesome place for young people to live. Then you grow older and realize that it's also a great place to raise a family. If I was a retired person, though, I would definitely get the hell out.

NOVA is tough, I live far out and deal with the commute over living in the mess.

yeah man. I worked up there for a few years, then moved far out and commuted. After that I moved to Blacksburg and telecommuted til I could find a good job here. To each his own, but I'll take rural and inconvenient over densely populated any day.

Bingo

Oh heck no.
I lived far away from there and commuted in just so I did not have to live there.
I got past most of the traffic because I had to be there at 5:30 AM and left at about 7 PM so, I missed most of the traffic.

For me, NOVA is suburban hell with not many of the upsides. I've lived in various high density areas and NOVA, I could not stand.
Turned down a HUGE promotion when I was in my late 20s because I would have had to move to Falls Church. I named 3 places in the world I did not want to live and the D.C. area was on that list. I asked for the job they had in Bangladesh but it was taken already.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

It is truly my honor to be the one to green this comment.

A Miami hat worth $30? Must be the Nevin Shapiro special - loaded with cocaine and gets you into a strip club.

$30 might get you the leavins of a line and a dry handy

To be quite honest this is kinda genius.......

They'll really get after ya

"Sold out environments". YeahOK

"Pre-season Top-25 North Carolina Tarheels?" So you mean they are giving you one ticket to see the FSUvMiami football game and another ticket to watch UNC in basketball then.

If you were a Miami fan, you can't really complain about this. Have you looked at the pu-pu platter of home games they get this year?

Florida A&M
Arkansas State
Duke
Cinci
Pitt

If I were Miami, I would stick them with a less desirable home game than UNC. Just be honest "You can see a rivalry game that was once a premiere matchup in college football, but you will also get stuck with one of our turds. We are Miami, we are desperate."

The Dude Abides

I would think you could stick them with Duke, Cinci, or Pitt and it wouldn't be any different.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

You could argue that since Duke is the ACC Coastal champ, that it is more appealing.

The Dude Abides

Duke has won the ACC Coastal more times than Miami.

Does that mean Da U is back?

"Exit light..."

I like to think in terms of Miami having the same total Coastal titles as LOLUVA, its your classic two-birds-one-stone zinger.

That's hilarious because at this past years VT Miami game people were leaving after the 1st quarter.. and these were front row VT sideline 20-30 yardline seats. What makes them think people will want to watch FSU mop them up for 4 quarters when they can't stay for 1 vs VT.

Go to fewer games at Sun Life?

Nobody needed to ask them twice

Yeah the fans appear to be ahead of the curve on that one.

They even have team color-coordinated seats and their logo in the 4 corners. I guess they knew they'd be plenty visible with no one actually sitting in the seats.

Wooooooooooooooow... I know Clemson has done something similar for the general public for big games (my mom's bought tix to VT-Clemson a couple times now, and you can only get them from Clemson bundled with tix to a shitty game) but the way Clemson does it actually makes sense, whereas this... is just depressing.
