Not that I'm disagreeing with anything you've said. I'm taking a 'I'll believe it when I see it' stance towards the kicking game right now. I think you summed it up best when you said the outlook for next year as ".....well, it's not like it can get much worse than last year...."

Against Duke, they lined up for a FG, kicked the ball (it was good), but got whistled for a false start. On a field goal. They line up another five yards back (still only about a 42-yarder or so) and promptly kick it wide right.
Also, they missed a game-winner against Maryland. That was funny too.

Taking a timeout before a routine punt, no better way to signal that we were doing something "tricky." I screamed at the TV for that entire play.
