This is an interesting article showing how many 5 and 4 star recruits (aka blue chip recruits) each ACC team has on roster:
Which ACC Teams Have The Most Star Recruits?
They've VT ranked 4th but looking at the numbers VT has the same number of 5 and 4 star recruits as Miami which is 3rd. The list starts off as most would expect with FSU leading the way followed by Clemson. Of course everyone can see that LOLUVA performs a lot worse than their recruiting rankings would indicate ranked as 5th most talented roster. I feel like Louisville without Bridgewater and with a roster that talent wise looks similar to Pitt could take a bit of a fall playing ACC opponents every week.
Even though recruiting isn't where anyone wants it to be but this shows an overall view that VT's roster is still at the top of the coastal according to recruiting rankings. Of course stars aren't everything but it is a good indicator of performance for the most part. Hopefully VT can get Sweat and a few other blue chippers this year.

So you are saying we are just six five-star recruits and eight four-star recruits away from winning a national champion ship!?? Based on the numbers without considering depth at positions and seniority, FSU can theoretically field an entire starting lineup without starting a three-star player and still have four-star guys sitting the bench. Crazy when put into perspective.
There's a great article on sbnation that goes into the ratio of blue chip recruits on roster that national championship teams have on their roster. Alabama of course has the best roster recruiting ranking wise in college football and that's followed by FSU.
I think that the position group that having blue chippers matters the most is defensive front 7 especially along the interior DL. Think DT depth is where the SEC, and right now FSU, do the best job of having dominate players that aren't matched by a lot of other teams.
The defense is likely to be solid this year. With a top 30 recruiting class and experienced receivers, I hope the offense can show some improvement.
And that sentence makes this article worthless.
Dynamic, meaning moving.
I think in a backhanded way, he's saying Duke's defense gets moved around a lot.
For those who would rather have UofL as the cross-rival instead of BC, don't expect UofL to be very good going forward. No more Bridgewater and Strong, I predict a rapid regression.
I think their recruiting should improve being in the ACC and they've got some Papa Johns money. They are definitely in a better area for recruits than BC and from what I've seen seems like a better atmosphere. I'd expect them to be slightly better than BC for the most part. They've got a couple of good coaches in there right now.
They have put all their eggs in the basket for basketball. I see them being just another UNC of this conference. Great at basketball. Good enough at football to give their fans hope, but will never take the next step.
I sleep on UNC, they are stepping up in football. Their recruiting class this year is shaping to be pretty scary especially if they get Tuttle and Dalton. They are the biggest challenge to VT as a football program. UNC could be pretty good this year too.
Louisville definitely isn't putting all their eggs in the basketball basket. They even pay their new defensive coordinator, former Hokie Todd Grantham, a million a year. I wouldn't sleep on Louisville either, Petrino isn't a good guy but he does win.
Looking at their schedule I see Louisville beating Miami at home then probably being 6-0 entering a contest with Clemson.
They have been a popular destination for transfers if I'm not mistaken.
