Not all recruiting news is highly publicized or anticipated like Austin Clarke's decision so some news might slip through the cracks. So I put together some stuff that involves VT on the recruiting trail that happened relatively recent. Thought it might help especially people who aren't big on twitter or subscribers to pay websites.
Brandon Knight (OT - IN) - VT offered but has committed to in-state Indiana.
Juval Mollette (WR - NC), Johnathan Sutton (OLB - SC), Tommy Hatton (OG - NJ), Emanuel McGirt (OT - NC) & Nick Polino (OG - GA) - All five held VT offers with Mollete, McGirt and Sutton showing interest in us as well but they have committed to UNC. Sutton was said to have us in his top 2 according to an ESPN guy like 2 weeks ago. UNC is doing work on the recruiting trail and is putting together a really nice offensive line class.
UVA has picked up some commitments as of late but mostly from underrated guys who don't have much of a offer list. RJ Proctor is the one guy I am interested in because 247 had him going to camps at VT and Tennessee in July but then he committed to UVA. 247 still has the camps on his timeline but not sure if he's still attending or they just haven't updated and he's not going to those camps. I would take UVA's recruiting class with a grain of salt because whatever class they put together now could change drastically if Mike London is fired.
Blake Camper (OT - VA) - Big tackle out of the 757 committed to Rutgers not too long ago and then VT offered him like the same day or the day after. Maybe we can sway him, maybe not who knows but not sure why the offer came so late. Not like new film became available in this time of the year.
Gus Little (ILB - VA) - Massaponax teammate of Mihota and Sobczak. I believe both of his parents are VT grads or something like that and he was interested in us, but we never offered. He has committed to Maryland.
Quandeski Whitlow (DE - AL) - I believe his HS coach or somebody is a Hokie and we offered him. Seemed to have slight interest in us and Kentucky, but when South Carolina offered, he committed there like the day after.
Shy Tuttle (DT - NC) - Announced his top 5 or whatever and VT did not make the cut.
Jalen Dalton (DE - NC) - Hokies made his top 3 along with UNC and FSU.
Isaiah Davis (ATH - VA) - Hokies offered after his performance at our camp. Has offers from BC and Maryland.
Trevon Hill (DE - VA) - Announced another top 10 and we made the cut. Visited UVA today.
Ricky DeBerry (DE - VA) - Showing a lot of love to VT and UVA on twitter recently. He was thought to be almost a lock to go OOS early, but looks like that might be changing.
'15 commit Mook Reynolds is heading to The Opening held by Nike. CJ Reavis was invited last year.
Lastly, '14 signee Tabyus Taylor is heading to Juco since he did not qualify. Don't think it is too much of a surprise as rumors of this were floating around since he committed.
Go Hokies!

Comments
There are teams getting about as much commits in a day as our whole class. We are beyond due for a commitment and hopefully that starts Saturday with Fullwood!
Is Tabyus going to prep school or JUCO? Hopefully he can still end up at VT.
He's going to Lackawanna College, which is a two-year college in Scranton, PA.
Scranton you say?
I heard they have a fierce rivalry with Utica College.
Gotta stay positive but I hate losing guys before they even get here...
Lacka-wanna, snicker...
Huh?
Haha, good catch. Fixed it. He's from Indiana.
I figured he was down VT's board and when others higher commited elsewhere we worked our way down to him. Not looking too good for OT's that we need badly.
That makes sense. Probably was going to wait and see what Clark, McGirt do first and now that they're off the board, offer the next best. If we can't flip Camper tho, that means we would go even further down that list.
You mean we didn't offer him early then tell him it wasn't committable because we were waiting on others to decide?
According to Michael Clark of Scout.com (http://recruiting.scout.com/story/1413790-sweat-enjoys-sec-visits?s=73&p... $), Josh sweat is planning to cut his list to five during the season with the intention to commit at the Under Armour All-American Game. Sweat told Clark Tennessee, Georgia, Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State, and Virginia Tech are the schools that are recruiting him the hardest.
This thread is great for those of us who are not very active on twitter. Continuing updates through this LOOOOONG off season are nice to read every once in awhile.
sidenote - after reading the first paragraph, I was hoping for more positive news from recruits (top 5's, camps, tweets, other news). I got knocked down a peg after I realized we mostly failed. Hopefully we can turn things around in the coming months.
Go Hokies!
Awesome. That's why I put this thread together.
I would've loved to put more positive stuff on here but to be honest not much going on at the moment. A lot of recruits taking it slowly plus us just plain missing out on guys will do that.
Fullwood's decision is coming up, plus we have a July camp too so let's hope positives come from there.
Totally understood. I would rather be well-informed, than to not know at all. Keep up the good work. These are the threads that get me through the day without that 2:30 feeling :)
The big impact of Tabyus Taylor to JUCO is that his cousin is prized recruit, and VT lean, Darrell Taylor.
I think Darrell has known about it. There was a video of him somewhere that I remember him saying something like "my cousin should be going there in the next year or so" or something to that effect.
But yea, even if it is likely that Tabyus eventually makes it to VT, it would have been great to have him on campus so he could recruit Darrell more effectively.
Dionte Austin (CB - MD) has committed to Wake Forest.
Not sure if we filled up on CBs this class and stopped recruiting him anyway, but 247 lists an offer from us and I know he camped at VT last year.
http://247sports.com/Player/Dionte-Austin-22133
I think we cooled on Austin a bit after The Rock and Mook committed in February.
That's what I figured.
Dang, Austin and The Rock would have made a great tag team. LAWLZ
Tag team, ya say?
Could you post an update to the targets list? it seems that VT has been on the wrong side of so many decisions that our target list must have had wholesale changes to it several times over already.
I usually just track stuff by this. Divided by position so easy to see.
http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Season/2015-Football/Offers
I bet we see more OL offers go out soon.
you mean I have to click on something?!
I thought you had some secret Ninja sources like this guy that had an insiders list
kidding. thanks +1
Well, if I told you they wouldn't be secret Ninja sources anymore. Ha!
But yea, I don't even have pay site subscriptions, I just rely on twitter and the free portions of pay sites pretty much. Even if an article is an "vip/insider" article, sometimes you can get the gist of the article by reading some of the comments that are visible. Watch those sites fix that now that I've said that. lol
Dude is doing the kind of hard work that years ago would get him recruited to the Intelligence community.
Before the Intelligence community just decided to hell with the 4th, and bugged everyone by default.
In Soviet NSA, the Easy-Button gets you.
Dammit I'm proud that the TKP spooks believe in gathering intel the old fashioned way. Eavesdropping, digging through trash, and wearing disguises just has a certain old-school charm and respectability that can't be duplicated with 1s & 0s.
Clearest known image of the operative known as "HokieNinja".
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, when did did leonardo become a member of ROC nation?
i noticed that too! illuminati
Thanks for the informational OP, HokieNinja.
Enjoy the legs.

Try not to spend them all in one place.
Haha thanks. I'll spend them wisely :)
"And one"... : )
Indeed. A leg per post from me. I appreciate the effort.
I think the real downside for this for me is the 0/4 (not including Clark, Brown, and Burrell) on offensive line recruit offers. As I indicated when Coach Searels was hired, he was a very solid recruiter, but he recruited well in the backyards of well established powers. IE, he got 4 star OL from Georgia when he coached at Georgia. He got 4 stars from Louisiana,Mississippi, and Memphis when he was at LSU. Finally, at Texas he was recruiting Texas kids. He has never been in a position where he is recruiting in an area where legitimate DI offensive linemen, and it hasn't been a great start.
Also, Grimes started the process of recruiting Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New Jersey for OL talent. All of his connections for the better part of a decade are built up in the south. He is starting from scratch.
This.
My biggest fear is not landing the guys we want and having to flip ECU or other conference USA caliber guys last minute just to get bodies.
Well Johnathan McLauglin worked out
Did he ever! OL recruiting is such a crap shoot, and hard as it may be, you just have to try your best to...

No doubt, and I'm glad he did but at the same time, I wouldn't feel good at all about landing all 2 and low 3 star OL guys that we flipped from mid majors. For one, they are rated low or have a limited offer list for a reason. Two, I'm not sure how much of a developer Searls is. Like French mentioned, at his previous spots, he was at powerhouse schools and had 4 star caliber talent fall into his lap and his lines were good but not elite from what I remember from stats. So my worry would be when Searls had 4 star talent = good but not elite lines so if he had 2-3 talent = ?. Can he coach lower caliber guys up? That would be the question and from the direction we are headed, looks like we might find out in a few years.
Are we out of the running for our former commit, Ashton White?
Some guy on twitter asked him about us a month or two ago and he said something like "Hokie Nation don't talk too much to me anymore". I'm guessing our coaching staff had set 2 CB's as our target this year, and once we got Mook and the Rock, we stopped recruiting others that much. I'm sure they would take a guy like Kevin Toliver, but otherwise I assume the coaching staff sticks to their plan of number of players at each position they bring in.
Gotchas, thanks!
Also, 247 posted an article basically saying VT and Maryland are in a fight for Oscar Smith RB Deshawn McClease.
LB target Tanner Karafa from Stone Bridge HS in Ashburn has committed to Boston College. Had VT offer.
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Karafa-Makes-Three-29335963
I doubt he comes here but I'll post this since we're at least mentioned.
His 247 profile: http://247sports.com/Player/George-Brown-Jr-28366
Heck yeah. I like that we have our hat in the ring. That's good PR, regardless of the outcome.
I agree. Half the SEC, a Big12 and us. Good stuff.
The state of our recruiting at the moment...
Searles isn't lighting up the recruiting trail yet but he has also been here for 5 months? He is recruiting new kids with 0 relationships before he got to VT. We have a long time before signing day so I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now to see how things go come February. I'm not expecting a great OL class this year because of that.
Trevion Armstrong committed to ODU yesterday. I remember a while back he was a 4 star and coaches from all over the country were visiting him. Now he's a 3 star and he barely received any AQ conference offers. 247 lists just Pitt as his big offer and even that I'm not sure if it was a commitable one.
I think he projects more as a H-back than a true WR, but I still think he's a solid prospect and wouldn't be surprised if a ACC school who misses out on their targets offers late in the process.
247 profile: http://247sports.com/Player/Trevion-Armstrong-30549
Didn't know Trevion Armstrong was once a 4 star. I believe there must be some sort of issue, else VT would have offered. I'm excited with the possibility of landing the defensive prospects Josh Sweat, Darrell Taylor, Trevon Hill, Tremaine Edmunds, Damien Dozier, and Ricky DeBerry who are all quick and explosive. Would be satisfied if we were able to sign 4 out of 6 from this group.
I was searching around 247 and noticed that it didn't show his commitment to ODU. Upon further investigation, it appears that he has opened up his recruitment again. I know we are interested in FDIII and Cager, so I am not sure if we would have a spot for him even if the interest is mutual.
EDIT: I can't type and I probably still can't
In addition, for what it's worth, the crystal ball has Virginia Tech as the predicted destination.
EDIT: More Digging
Just noticed that 247 now has him listed under 2016 recruits. Anyone know why he would reclassify? New high school maybe?
He reclassified to 2016.
Gotcha, thanks!
3 star DE Trevon Hill from the 757 visited VT over the weekend.
Bucky, who went to the same high school tweeted about it so I'm guessing they spent some time together.
In state 3 star OL Justin Skule has committed to Vandy over UVA, WVU and Rutgers. VT didn't offer.
http://247sports.com/Player/Justin-Skule-41540
Man, I am sure I might get stoned for saying something like this, but why wouldn't we offer a Top-30 3-star OL IN-STATE when we have lost out on most of our targets at this position? Who else do we have still on the board? Im still trying to keep the faith.....Hopefully Searls is going to pull an under-the-radar Texas kid who blows all of us out of our seats.....or bleachers.
Maybe he never showed any interest in us. Some kids are like that. And there is nothing wrong with that. You win some you lose some.
I get what your are saying. And to add to it, Searels is smart enough to recruit players that fit the system he is implementing, and maybe this kid didn't fit.
Unfortunately this recruiting cycle is more like "You win some, you lose a LOT" on the kids we have targeted.
Could be he wouldn't fit for some reason.
No offense to this kid, but I can think of a bunch of good reasons.
One, VT will probably only sign a couple of OL's this year 2) it's still pretty early in the recruiting season 3) the 30th rated kid in Virginia is generally not going to be a big contributor at VT (not to say it doesn't or can't happen) 4) there are probably more than several kids that VT considers better fits for VT still out there 5) focusing on in-state OL's is what got VT in its dire straits to begin with...why continue that strategy?
I hope we take 3 - 4 OL this year. We need to stockpile after those years where we took 0 - 2.
No inside info but I'll be surprised if we don't bring in at least one JUCO OT. We need someone who can enroll in Jan and play there next year. We have a few guys who could conceivably play guard or tackle, but no oversized tackle types that Searles seems to want. We're actually in very deep at OG...perhaps could use a true center.
VT took 4 OL's in the 2014 class - of which only maybe 1 is tackle. And 5 in 2013 (including Teller) and 5 in 2012 (incl A.Smith) -- most of whom are guards/centers. The classes of 0-2 OL's are ancient history. There has not been a dearth of OL recruiting (at least in terms of classes that will be on the roster going forward), but it is top heavy with guards and centers.
Given the small number of slots available for 2015 and there are already about 10 young guards/centers and only about 3 young tackles on the roster in 2014, I would guess they are targeting 2 tackles (and maybe a 3rd versatile guy if the right guy comes along).
Former VT commit CB Ashton White has committed to Notre Dame.
We lost interest in him as much as he lost interest in us. Good luck to him however.
Yup. Just figured I post it since some people were asking about him earlier.
3 star DE Trevon Hill will commit this Saturday on ESPN radio at 11AM. It's down to us and UNC.
With him just visiting this weekend I kind of like our chances.
The Hokies need DE . I hope Hill realized that. And he will get to hang out with his good friends Bucky and Andrew.
Daily update:
- 4star WR/TE from IL Miles Boykin committed to Notre Dame today. VT had offered and were in his top 10. Doubt we ever really had a shot tho.
- 3 star RB from VA AJ Turner is announcing his decision at Nike's The Opening coming up. Crystal balls have been trending to South Carolina so I wasn't getting my hopes up anyway, but the article indicates that we aren't even in his top group so consider this ship sailed. We're already log jammed at RB anyway so I'm fine with landing just McClease or no one in this class honestly.
Article: http://247sports.com/Bolt/Turner-sets-announcement-29445585
- Ohio State landed a 5 star OLB and 4/5 star DE. This is somewhat relevant because Ohio State is also recruiting DE's Darrell Taylor, Josh Sweat and Ricky DeBerry. OSU already had a 4 star DE commit as well. Not saying Sweat, Taylor or DeBerry will get "scared" or anything, but recruits certainly look at the situations at their position.
- Maybe I'm just over analyzing but, Trevon Hill's tweet about becoming an uncle had a funky capitalization that I didn't like. Possibly a hint that he did on purpose?
Also, saw McClease and Hill having a convo on twitter joking about how they know where each other are going so both of them have made their decision already just fyi.
- Here's a free podcast on 247 that has some recruiting stuff.
http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Board/59428/Contents/VTScoop-July-Podc...
Its not just you...Its too much of a coincidence.
"UNCle"
Doesn't look good...I agree.
Hill said that it was a typo. Whenever I type the letters unc into my phone it automatically auto corrects to UNC.
To be fair, I wouldn't expect Hill to admit to his friend on twitter that she got his hint and he is indeed going to UNC even if he was.
Also, on the iPhone at least, it doesn't capitalize it unless you put a space after UNC. So if you're typing the word uncle without any spaces, it doesn't capitalize it.
For the record, I'm not trying to sound like a dick here. I hope it was truly a typo and it's nothing. But at the same time it is kind of weird is all in saying.
Let's hope for the best tho.
I still think we are in good shape here. The people I have seen close to the situation are hearing "positive VT vibes."
Sweet.
This is horrible.
3 star WR from VA, Felton Davis tweeted he will announce his top 10 list at 7pm tonight.
I look forward to the day someone gives us a top 50 list that we can swoon over.

Or a top-123 (excluding LOLUVA).
- Felton Davis released his top ten list. No surprise we made it. Closing the deal will be the challenge tho.
- New BBall offer to 2015 prospect.
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Hokies-offer-2015-Combo-Guard-Deriante-Jenkins...
- Random Fact but kind of cool.
Love how he says no particular order, yet it's in alphabetical order
Did he just find out Ricky Stokes was a coach... or did he just find out Ricky Stokes was his cousin?
757 TE will camp at VT next weekend.
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Chesapeake-VA-TE-Richard-Burney-to-Camp-at-VT-...
Excellent. We could use another QB/DE/OT.
Reminds me of the time I tried out for varsity football as a receiver.
He has committed to UVA. Didn't earn an offer at our camp.
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Virginia-Tech-four-star-commit-Reynolds-planni...
Can't blame the kid for going to Michigan for free BBQ
Michigan...BBQ? Must be a typo. I wouldn't go across the street for Michigan BBQ.
Well played. I was afraid it would be read like that. Is "Michigan BBQ" even a thing? It probably has something to do with a catch not being called a catch. I imagine it's smoked over a hot bed of Coale
This was just a quick question on Deberry. About if he could play Mike at VT, but I went back and watched his junior film and I didn't see one play where he didn't have his hand in the dirt in a 4-3. I know the chances are pretty low that VT lands him but they seem to keep hanging around and he appears to like Shane. I do keep feeling better with him the longer VT can hang near the top group.
He'd be a load at Mike. When I spoke with him earlier this year he told me Tech was recruiting him at defensive end. He also said he didn't have a preference between DE and OLB because each would allow him to rush the passer. I think MLB would be a tougher sell from that standpoint.
Can't see details because it's behind a paywall, but 247 said Damien Dozier set a date for his decision.
Cincinnati is the only other big offer and he recently camped at VT so we should feel good. I think he wanted a Clemson offer but looks like he won't get one.
247 profile: http://247sports.com/Player/Damien-Dozier-63689
Can't embed since I'm on mobile. But CB from IN released his top 3 which includes VT.

His 247: Adonis Williamson
He's friends with Eric Whitehead. I think they were HS teammates but Whitehead is transferring for his senior season. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
Edit: Evan just posted this.
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Midwest-DB-Names-Top-3-29533439
For the lazy, it says decision is coming in the next 3 weeks or so.
Man did I love Eric Whitehead's film - just tossing people around that got in his way. The guy may actually get credit for a few sacks by just glaring at QB's who will melt under the pressure. He's like Jefferson from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Personally...I look at his pic...and I'm getting the urge to go ahead and Fedex him my lunch money.
At least we know he loves...
Bonecrusher!
Funny
In July thats McClease, Adonis x 2, and Edmunds saying that they plan on making a commitment. Think Gaines is on the fence on when he would make a commitment.
Didn't know about Edmunds. I know he grew up a UNC fan, but hopefully his brothers and familiarity with visiting multiple times is enough to pull him in.
We could potentially catch up to other teams in terms of number of commits real quick the way things look this month.
Kai Locksley update.
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Locksley-set-to-make-another-FSU-visit-29540588
Every time I see Kai Locksley mentioned I picture this:
so you're saying there's a chance...
I hope Melvin Keihn is in his ear telling him to be a Hokie!
5 star PG names VT in his 7 schools that he is considering.
http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Bolt/Evans-lists-seven-schools-at-Brea...
What?! A 5 Star out of state basketball player is considering Tech??? I'll believe it when I wake up from this dream.
Ocean Lakes 3 star athlete names VT in his top 6.
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Oregon-makes-Jahque-Alleyenes-Top-6-29600420
I'm interested in what VT is recruiting him as. If it's DB, I would imagine there's only one spot left between him and Adonis Williamson.
It'd be nice to finally land an Ocean Lakes kid. I get the vibe that school doesn't like us.
It certainly seems as if there is a problem there. I am certain, at least, that head coach Scott has nothing to do with it.
I can only guess, but I have seen situations where the parents of players, after spending years (I mean YEARS!) together chit-chatting around football events, form opinions that become gospel in a group. Any new member coming into the group with a younger kid kind of falls in line, and the opinion lives on. I think VT fell prey to a negative vibe (or maybe a pro SEC vibe) like that at Oscar Smith for a while.
No idea how to combat something like that, though.
From what I've heard for Oscar Smith the negative perception that VT had before was because they felt like Greg Boone didn't get a fair shake at QB. I'm so glad there's a good relationship there now.
Ocean Lakes negative perception seems to have a lot to do with the parents of the Thoroughbred kids.
Article on OL Kenny Thomas from AL.
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/07/virginia_tech_msu_hard_after_...
VT has offered 2015 JUCO TE Domonick Foy .
Kind of surprised about this offer since JUCO offers usually mean we need immediate help at a position and I thought we were in good position with Malleck, Cline and Bucky and even blocking TEs with Redman and Willenbrock.
I think this is his highlights from HS.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E06LnHcGyeA
I'll QB jokes aside, I bet he would move to a lineman position of which we have a lot of young players. For all I know though, tech could want to move him over to DT where we have a big need.
Moving positions is possible. Although I'm not sure if DT is a need for us anymore. Woody Barron and Nigel Williams are still young, we brought in Walker and Sobczak, and already got commits from Whitehead and Lewis.
Plus Foy is listed at 240 lbs and hasn't played the position so I would think he would require more time to get game ready than Walker and Sobczak.
Former USC commit 3 star QB David Sills has committed to WVU. VT had offered.
Who knows maybe he'll be the QB when we face them at FedEx.
I wish him well, but wvu the worst
Tremaine Edmunds will announce on July 31st.
Another local guy announcing on a local news channel. Oh no! Just kidding. I have a good feeling about this.
If I'm reading that right, does that mean he's going to announce his decision ON Hokie Haven?
You kind of almost have to think that's a good sign
Unfortunately, no. Hokie Haven broke the original story, so they're just getting credited there.
Austin Clark announced his decision on Hokie Haven :(.

We are going after 2016 QBs hard it looks like
He needs to pack on some serious LB's. Looks like we will sign a good QB next year one way or another.
I sure like everything I'm seeing from Loeffler at this point. The guy is ALWAYS hot on the trail for QB's, for one thing. The guy is working. We kinda lost that urgency for a stretch, IMO (politely put).
And man, I would love to see this offense kick in hard this year. And it just might happen.
DE target Marques Ford from Florida has committed to Tennessee.
4 star CB Jordan Whitehead from PA is giving us a look apparently.
Article: http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Bolt/Whitehead-Confirms-Ohio-State-Tri...
He has offers from all the top programs so not holding my breath, but would be a great get. Plus this dude is one of the most ripped CB prospect I've seen.
Photo from his 247 profile.
Let's hope for 2 Whiteheads in this years class!
Josh sweat is visiting this weekend according to Adam Friedman. Also seems to be an overnight visit. This is massively important.
Josh will give VT an OV!
There's a big man also visiting this weekend, out of Florida.
Mike Arnold. I bet he might be on "commit watch" this weekend.
That would be correct!
Is he the OT that said he would commit on the spot if he were to receive a F$U offer?
Going down to Blacksburg this weekend to move my stuff out of my senior apartment. Maybe I'll leave my final mark on campus by convincing Arnold and Sweat to commit.
Man I'm gonna miss college......
Also two guys from the Midwest will be on campus!! Looking like a good weekend fellow Hokies!
That'll be commit Eric Whithead (DT) and his former teammate Adonis Williamson (DB), who has the Hokies in his top 3.
With us known DBU and having a friend committed in Whitehead, I feel good about Williamson. I posted a 247 article earlier in this thread that said he wanted to make a decision in the next 3 weeks or so and that was a week or two ago so we will find out about him soon.
Mike Arnold tweeted VT is his leader and that he will make a decision in August.
https://twitter.com/mikeselfmade26/status/494135253921845248
Also relevant is that Miami got commitments from 2 OTs today. That makes 6 OL (5 listed as tackles by 247) commits for them in this class. Hopefully that makes us more attractive for playing time.
Miami is our biggest competitor for him right?
I believe he is the recruit that said if F$U offered he would commit on the spot. So it could turn out to be a repeat of last year. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Yeah he did but I would be shocked if he gets an FSU offer barring a ton of FSU targets choosing to go elsewhere.
Ah, ok. Sounds good. Didn't realize they had a good amount of OL commits already. MA sounds like he would be a good recruit and a great to start this class' OL recruiting.
Mook taking 3 possibly 4 OVs. Still think we are in good shape here especially after what he did this weekend. Also, by looking at the comments Michigan fans seem to still be classless and uneducated like they were 2 1/2 years ago.
Everything I'm hearing about his recruiting puts us in a very good position. I have a feeling he's just enjoying the process of being a recruit who is wanted by others.
2016 4* DT Ellison Jordan from Gilman(same school as Melvin Khein) will visit VT tomorrow!!!
Tremaine edmunds is deciding at 6pm today. Most feel pretty confident. Hope UMD didn't sell him too well on being a legacy at his fathers school. Also, TE Cunningham decides tomorrow b/to VT and Louisville.
Saw this free thread over on VT Scoop. Hope it pans out, my guess would be Clelin Ferrell, Austin Clark, or Kai Locksley (both Ferrell and Clark's parents wanted for each one respectively to go to VT I believe and we all know with all the QB commits FSU has one decommitting wouldn't be surprising.
I tend to stay away from the VT Scoop threads as what they post is usually meaningless.
Eh, they're no more hit-or-miss than any other recruiting site. I still think TKP and TSL provide better content, but you take what you can get.
A mystery recruit that would make everyone happy if he flipped but he probably won't flip? Way to cover all his bases there.
And remember, you gotta PAY for that insight!
Isaiah Davis' brother (Sean Davis) is a starting CB for Maryland. Had 9 tackles against the Hokies last year.
Isaiah is listed as a LB by Rivals and the 24/7 Crystal Ball is 50/50 between Tech and UMD (albeit with only 2 pollers): the co-manager of Testudo Times (originally picked UMD, switched to VT on 7/22) and a guy from InsideMdSports, who chose UMD today. Isaiah visited UMD on 8/6 and was at VT camp on 6/8. Hope we can land this kid.
Evan Watkins just crystal balled him to NC State with one other guy. Would be a solid pick up but don't think it's a big deal if he goes elsewhere.

I thought that was an interesting note about our OL plans.
Trevon Hill is now a 4 star and ranked 214 nationally and 11 in state according to 247 Sports.
Well done Trevon. Love it.
And this move up is likely before word got out of him basically seizing territory in Oscar Smith's backfield last week. He should have planted a flag or something.
Big picture situation:
- According to Rivals we have offers out on 63 players rated 4-5 stars. This is a step up from previous years.
- Of those 63, 42 have committed elsewhere and 2 have committed to VT. That leaves 19 still in play. And most of these are defensive prospects.
In addition to Josh Sweat, the Hokies will host 5-star DB Kevin Tolliver II out of Trinity Christian in Jacksonville in Lane Stadium this year. Tolliver - currently an LSU commit - will see the Hokies play twice this season, as he will join Sweat and several other elite prospects in Columbus for the Tech/OSU game before travelling down to Blacksburg to see the Hokies take on Georgia Tech. According to the 247 Composite, Tolliver is the #7 player nationally and the #2 CB in the country. Here's to Torrian and Bud pullin' a nice little flip job.
If we get Sweat, Tolliver, Dalton, Deberry, the defense will be set for the next few years. Fingers crossed.
It's a tall order, but yes, that would be nothing short of nasty.
Have we ever gotten two 5 star recruits in one year? I can't remember it if we did
Most of you probably know, but Toliver is attending Isaiah Ford's HS aka they're good friends. In Ford's signing day documentary, I remember seeing Toliver sit at the lunch table with him.
Well, if Ford has a big day against OSU/GT and maybe gets in Tolliver's ear a little... can't hurt.
as well as tolliver we are recuiting victor lopes from TC hes a LB there i think projected as a DE maybe im not sure. although he has really good speed and his size is not there yet he hasnt been playing football that long mostly running track so i think hes a little green honestly i have not seen him play execpt maybe 2 or 3 times in highschool but i played and went to school with his older brother and we get together on sundays and play flag football and vic comes and plays with us. im not sure if he was only being recruited to try and bring in some other TC guys with him i know hes unforutually like alot of kids around here a huge gator fan and thats where he wants to play but he also visited with GT he told me so maybe hes just enjoying the process either way VT is having some success down here in the 904 and i like it! ive been in vics ear about going to VT since wayyyyy before we were even looking at him lol so maybe that will help. im friends with isaiah ford cuz i tried to get them all to make the trip up to the spring game with me but plans kinda feel through at the end. really wish i could have had them with me spent most of the weekend hanging out with tyrod, davon morgan, james gayle and chris ellis i think we could have got some commits right there on the spot lol.
Holy Crap!! That may be some of the more impressive run-on sentences I have ever experienced! I was going to try and come up with a smart crack about 'No Periods' but that quickly went into the gutter.....
Apparently there is even a superhero for Run-On Sentences....
