I definitely had the same thought process

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

Classic Frank. Always effusive in his praise and always giving classic coach speak. What did you want him to say: "Leal better improve his game or he will be holding a clipboard again this year. I like Brewer but I'm not scared to play a true freshman. Now watch me crush this tee shot"

Brewer isn't a True Freshman, he is a Graduate of Texas Tech with two years of eligibility left.

He was talking about Ford as the true freshman....

Or Durkin.

"Exit light..."

Or McMillian.

I'm aware.

I gotta say HokieBlitz, I enjoy all these rhetorical question threads you keep creating haha

It's almost like a ... blitz... of rhetorical ...Hokie... questions.

... I'll see myself out.

Its fun. TKP members are so insightful . I learned more about the Hokies and college sports from chatting with them than watching ESPN.

PROTIP: don't watch ESPN

Sometimes you have to, If someone catches you then you quickly say: I'm watching for the images not the commentary. really.

Hey now, let's not be too hasty.

Their Mutual of Omaha specials are incredibly educational. Teaching wild animals the basics of a complex game like football is pretty groundbreaking.

Its hard not to watch ESPN when they own most of the sport channels. I just wish they would stop being biased.

If your cable provider has it Fox Sports 1 is decent. I get a little tired of the UFC stuff though.

#Let's Go - Hokies

Beamer said it probably going to be someone new. With Logan in the NFL, the coaching staff has had a chance to see Motley , Leal, Ford in spring practice but none has been named the starting QB. The only new QBs left to see are Brewer, Durkin, McMillian. What the coaching staff is saying is that the QB competition is wide open. Leal and Motley havent done enough to separate themselves.

True but I don't know how you can say any qb has locked up the starting job when you have an experienced qb coming in that you haven't seen yet. It's not like brewer can redshirt.

Read between the lines. Its gonna be Brewer.

Means it's not gonna be Leal.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

Watching the highlights of the Sun Bowl, Mark Leal looked awful. Coach Beamer is right to worry. You dont want to go into August not knowing who your starting QB will be.

Leal probably received zero practice reps and wasn't factored into the Hokies gameplan going into that game at all. It was no surprise that he struggled. You also have to give UCLA and Mora credit; that defense was flying around the field.

I don't think anyone thought our tank of a QB would get blown up during that game and wouldn't be able to finish for us.

That's a thought, but I think the problem would be, he SHOULD have been. Logan was gone after that game one way or the other. His backup should be ready to go in any game, particularly with him being the potential starter for the following year.

It would be one thing if we didn't have a designated QB that we just tossed in there because he had played before, but he was classified as our backup...he was dressed...I'm not saying he should have shined out there, then why would he be a backup? But he should have been prepared and he wasn't.

Lots of good points in this thread (and funny stuff too that I popped with some legs), but this one is the clincher for me (and maybe the coaches?) -----> 4 years of prep AND you have the starting spot glory in your sights the following year...and that's what ya got?
The UCLA D was amped that day (well, except when Logan sent that precocious Myles kid airborne), so we have to temper things with that reality. Point taken there. One outing does not a career make, yada....But still, that was a doozy of an eye opener.
