Any idea what the hold-up is with Burke and Smith?

Someone said in another thread that it's academics and that they are both likely to prep.

Ugh...going backward again regarding OL's

Seriously...and Burke is a TE future OL so that's 2.

Technically, wouldn't that make him a future QB?

Depends on which era of coaching staffs we are mocking. Prior to the TE to QB there was TE to OL, TE to DL, hell even a QB to TE.

That's a bit dramatic. Most OL's redshirt and need another year beyond that to bulk up and get coached up. Smith would likely be in that category regardless.

IMO, the only real downside here is if he doesn't ultimately qualify.

"the only real downside here is if he doesn't ultimately qualify."

That is what I am assuming...lately the guys with academic deficiencies are not working out more often than not

If by "the prep guys" you mean Drew Harris then you would be correct, but Holland Fisher disagrees with you. There's no generalization that can be applied to these kids regarding whether they will make it to campus or not. Players have to put in work in the classroom before they can wear maroon and orange. There will be players like Cequan Jefferson and Harris who don't make it happen, but for every one of them, there's a Fisher who does.

If you say so....Harris, Jefferson, Bronson, Thomas Smith, Mackey, Tyrell Edwards, Peak brothers, Deantre Rhodes, Odom (eventually made it but soon flamed out), Pressley to name a few. I don't remember having such a poor track record of getting them in prior to the last 10 years, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.

Bronson didn't prep? But the Algebra 2 requirement hurts us a lot from pulling recruits from north of Pennsylvania because from what I've come to understand it's not requirement to graduate.

Reid as well in this class

I think that's a bit of an overstatement. They can be a little hit-or-miss, but I'd say we still get the majority of them on campus eventually.

Heck, some of them are really big hits like Johnathan McLaughlin who started at Tackle from day one and Laurence Gibson who would have been starting earlier than he was if it weren't for Newsome. A year of prep school can do wonders for an OL.

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

It's nice to see Santamaria on that list. I know he told 24/7 that he was planning on enrolling now and not grayshirting, but it makes me feel infinitely better about the kicking competition to know he'll be a part of it.

"He'll get after ya"- Frank Beamer, repeatedly.

yup. very little talk about PK, but we need a Fr to step up...Santamaria, Wise, whomever

Thats a solid class. Things are getting serious.

Allen Ox

I feel we are going to get a lot of great kids from this class. Especially from the receivers (I hope!!)

-Semper Primus

Agreed. They need at least two out of Phillips, Ford, Bradshaw, & Holland to be really good players.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

McMillian as well

Man, I really like that list. There are quite a few guys that are hard to slot at this point but I am excited to see where they end up. This may be my favorite recruiting class of all time. I have a feeling that Stroman, Sobczak, and Bradshaw are going to far exceed their star ratings.

Goshdang, I want Michael Santamaria to pan out as a Hokie soooooo bad. That's a great name.

Leonard. Duh.

ABitter, it would provide a good frame of reference if you compared this class (19 enrolled) to -previous classes over the last decade or so. That way we could know if this was the norm or an anomaly.
