UVA Game Tickets

My wife was wanting to take me to the LOLUVA game this year as a surprise welcome home from my deployment. As you can see she does not do a very good job with keeping secrets if she's excited about something. That being said, I figured I would hit the community here up and try and help her out a bit. She has looked on StubHub and has seen some listed for $100+ in the top of the stands. Is that a decent price oris there any chance to find something better for a better price? Thanks so much in advance for the help! -PK

Aw hell no I'm not letting you pay 100$ after a tour of duty! List some preferences and I'll see what I can do, at the very least I can almost guarantee guest tickets for like 50$

Thanks so much eshiben, I really appreciate it. I have never actually been able to make it to Lane, so I have no idea where we would want to be. Wherever is a decent spot with a decent price would be amazing. Again thank you so much!

I don't have any thoughts about the topic, but for some reason I read "Lane" as "Lame". So instead of calling Scott Stadium 'Lane Stadium North', I'm gonna go ahead and call it Lame Stadium.

"How you get to Lame Stadium?" "Well, you get on the interstate, go over the mountain, and take exit 118B..." This could get confusing

No problem at all, I'm debating smuggling you in with a student ticket in which case I could prolly get my hands on two tickets for like 30-40$ total

I know exactly what you mean by smuggling in with a student ticket, but after the thread on sneaking in booze, I had a hilarious mental image of a large lump on your back, under a very large coat.

"Exit light..."

as long as he's not trying to smuggle him in via his jock-strap.

But the ladies would be impressed.

Comment threads like these are the reason I come to this site.

They'll really get after ya

I think Erin and I are in NJ for Thanksgiving this year, so he could probably just use mine.

Consider it a "Thank You" gift for the whole deployment thing.

It was a catch

problem is youve got student tickets, and i wanna make sure i can get a passport that even vaguely resembles him/wife

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

Ah, that's true. Well, they're his if he wants/can use them.

It was a catch

No idea how any of that stuff works out, but if we could we'll absolutely buy them off you. Definitely appreciate it!

in Fuller we trust

they're student tickets, give me a rough idea of what you look like...or just hair color and ill find someone that vaguely matches you

What if someone here brought this up to higher powers and explained the situation. Who knows maybe he could be recognized at a VT home game or something? Maybe Military appreciation day/game... Just thinking hopefully someone see's this and agrees.

lol

That's awesome, but does VMIHokie wanna be recognized? He and mrs may just wanna kick back while the decade of domination is extended to 11-0.

If LOLUVA ever had a Military Appreciation game at Lame Stadium, they should invite our entire Corps. Might help fill some seats.

We're game for whatever we can get and can definitely get you more for the effort of working it. Would student ticket be in student section or just wherever? If so I promise we will not make paper airplanes, will stand for the whole game and as such will stay for it in its entirety. Thanks again so much!

youll be with a great group if you like rowdy, loud, and passionate. It would be in the East which is kind of a mix but theres certainly a lot of students

Class move Eshiben! I'm in for $50 towards one of those tickets if you need it. Let me know and we can coordinate outside the message boards.

This 100 times over Eshiben. I really appreciate it and would love to join your rowdy crowd if you don't mind some lame 33 yr old with his hot wife :)

Should be able to find a bunch on the ground on campus just before the game starts.
Look near the Zima tent.

Godspeed.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

No way 100+ vs LOLVA, I am trying to find Miami tickets for this Thursday nights game, making a trip up from FL and those are going 100+ on StubHub but i'm waiting until the season starts to get them.

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

Thursday night game vs Miami may be a bit difficult to acquire, unless you have friends that get tickets willing to sell for face value or reasonable prices.

Depending on how we're doing by that time, and considering it will be the first Thursday night game hosted since 2012, some people will be trying to line their pockets.

Thursday night games are never hard to acquire. You can ALWAYS find them a week or two before the game at a really good price. Many people just can't go because of work, and the visiting team generally always returns most of their share.

Its a rowdy crowd for sure, but it has always been one of the easiest tickets to get.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

I agree. I can always find Thursday night tickets on game day.
This is why I like Thursday night games so much.

@AMB4VT

I don't know if you would want to do this, but since the game is the Friday after Thanksgiving I bet there will be plenty you can scalp right before the game.

I usually monitor the Blacksburg Craigslist as it gets closer to the game and find someone that's selling for a reasonable price. Or make a post there yourself. Explain that you are returning from deployment and are looking to go to the game to celebrate your return. You will likely find someone that will help you out.

Especially if you still have your Hokie ID card. I used to know Corps members that would enter the lottery for tickets to give to friends that were back from deployment, or about to be deployed that wanted to see a game before they left.

PRO TIP: Never get rid of your Hokie Passport. It serves many uses around campus and in everyday use. From being able to ride the BT and getting into football games to getting student discounts at stores and events.

I'm curious, did they change the design again? That's what hurt me was when they changed the Hokie ID from the orange only to the Orange with Hokie Stone.

Sometime around 2003. I started in the fall, and my sister finished the previous spring. She had one of the old-style IDs, and got a new one just before she graduated (good move).

"Exit light..."

As far as I know, they've had the same style since at least 2005. This is the current "model"

hokie p

Yep, that's what my 2003 ID looked like.

"Exit light..."

The only exception is that there isn't an expiration date on it but rather a birthdate. So really, nobody knows whether you are still in school or not. You could just say you're a grad student and nobody would think otherwise in most cases.

I still have my Hokie Passport, but it's so old (circa 2000 or so) that it has my social security number on it.

Meh... I have little desire to ever ride the BT again. Not that I didn't love it when I was in college, but being crammed in an overcrowded public transport with a bunch of sweaty undergrads isn't exactly my idea of a good time. Much like I can't stand going to downtown Blacksburg anymore when school is in session. Just something about having to wait in a line and pray the bartender sees you before you can get a drink... ehhh, not my thing anymore.

That said, always remember your vt.edu email password. For online orders, this little gem will get you a student discount each time every time, and will allow you massive discounts when professional sports teams do their college night. Even in my 30s I still routinely get college night discounts (70% off) to Carolina Hurricanes games because I have been able to keep that email address.

Well for one thing would you mind sitting in the student section (the east) or are you looking to sit with alumni and stuff...we won't discuss the north or south endzone. Also I've got a banging tailgate this year if you're interested

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

What's wrong with North Endzone :(

...said no one more than a year removed from undergrad ever

If I could get my old spot back in the MVs section I'd be down for that. I was directly between the goal posts and behind the drum line (so there was nobody blocking my line of sight at any point). Best seat I've experienced in Lane!

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

just saying that because it could be really difficult to find two tickets into there...particularly for guests...particularly if they dont have hokie passports

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

Ignore my post above about contributing towards the tickets. I just realized we can't use our season tickets for that game (family conflict) so VMI Hokie... you and your wife can have our two tickets, compliments of my wife and I.
Consider it a welcome home gift!

Please have your wife (or you) contact me to coordinate. I don't want to post my info here but Joe can send you my email and we can coordinate that way.

Joe- please consider this my permission for you to send VMI Hokie my email address.

Eshiben- thanks for stepping up at the beginning of the thread and providing the motivation. Mission accomplished on your part!

lol

How I feel right now, seeing this all happen in a quick hour or two is truelly awesome! Once again proving why #HokieNation isn't just a hashtag or a saying.. Its a damn strong family!

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

I love this Hokie Stone!! This is why I'm proud to say I'm a Hokie!

@AMB4VT

Hokie Stone I can't thank you enough! We will gladly give you whatever you want for the tickets. We are happy to get you some money towards your tickets next year.

I want you to come home safe and then enjoy a great day at Lane with your wife. That's it!

It's my pleasure and honor for you to sit in our seats.

Thank you so much. I really can't say that enough. Will be my wife's first time seeing Blacksburg and figure she needs to see where our girls are going at some point.

in Fuller we trust

future hokies! I would love to show you guys around, we can even do some dining halls and show off some of techs wonderful on campus food afterwards (if they're open and my meal plan doesnt read 0.00 at that point)

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

In all the times I went to Tech I never once did a tour, always just went to friends apartments and started drinking immediately thereafter. Will definitely see what we can work out as we get a bit closer. We're doing Thanksgiving down in the Hampton area, so not sure exactly what time we'll be getting up there. Definitely would be great to show my wife around though. Know she's going to love it there.

in Fuller we trust

its a pretty cool place, we can show off the new engineering building (which for those of you who havent seen it ITS INCREDIBLE) and the new chem building as well as some stuff around the CRC if you want, but again we'll work out details later on, I believe the game is friday again correct? so maybe we'll do the tour saturday morning/afternoon?

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

This makes me so happy. That's the Hokie way, right there. Hokie Stone - I think you deserve a huge Sam Rogers high five for this very thoughtful gesture. Actually, on second thought, that would probably kill you so never mind. But you get the idea.

VMI Hokie - get yourself home safe and accept my gratitude for your service (along with all you other active service personnel and veterans).

"Exit light..."

yeah, a Rogers high five is probably not a good idea

I wouldnt pay $1 for a ticket at Scot stadium. Unless theyre getting blown out by VT.

I wanted to help a fellow veteran any way I could after reading the OP, but reading the comments, I see that Hokie Stone already has it covered. Good to see Hokies taking care of their own. If something falls through let me know. I can usually find a couple of tickets to home games. Especially, if given advanced notice. Just get back home safely VMI Hokie. Thank you for your service.

If you play it, they will win.

Thank you so much A-Pocket (name made me giggle). I really really appreciate it!

I am so thankful for everyone that was so willing to hook a brother up. This in addition to all of the boards and the ridiculous insight that Joe and the team put together is the reason I joined this sight and sadly spend more time on here than I do on work. I wish there was a more eloquent way of saying it but unfortunately I don't have it in me, so thank you all.

in Fuller we trust

hey VMI Hokie, can i get your email sometime so that i can get the finer details worked out?

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

Absolutely. Would prefer not to pass it over here. Joe if you could please give eshiben5 and Hokie Stone my email address I would appreciate it.
