Trey Edmunds Injury Check In

Just got to talk with Ferrell Edmunds (dad/coach of Hokies Trey and Terrell) about the new potential Hokie in the family, Tremaine, and couldn't resist asking about how Trey's leg was feeling.

He said that he thought Trey is about 90% right now, which seems about in line with what everyone in the program has said so far.

He also added he'd be a full participant in the team's preseason practices.

So not surprising news by any stretch, but still nice to hear about a guy that could take the offense to another level next year.

Thanks for the update! I'm loving this original source information on the site lately.

Looks like it's only going to get better...

I did say we had big plans for this season. There will be more cool things coming (knock on wood [then chop it down]).

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

trey really seemed to have it figured out by the time he broke his leg, or the coaches figured out to just let him pound the rock. either way i'm excited about the future of the running game with touchdown trey leading the way.

I like touchdown Trey, but I think I've grown to like "All Day Trey" even better

I like Trey "Fantasy Stats" Edmunds. Runs, catches, blocks, but most importantly he crosses the goal line with the football

thanks for the update. i hadn't heard anything on his progress since the end of the spring semester. the last i had heard (from a friend with a contact in the program) was that his recovery had stalled a bit (still experiencing some stiffness, pain, etc) and because of that, there were some conversations within the program about "what-ifs". at one point, a potential move to LB was mentioned. like i said, that was over two months ago so who knows where things stand now but hearing that made me believe the injury may have some longer lasting impacts that originally anticipated. i'd love to see him stay at RB but the truth of the matter is, if it's one of those injuries where you never really return to 100%, maybe RB would be too much a strain on him. we have some depth (allbeit almost all of it is inexperienced) at RB so maybe it's not such a crazy thought afterall. Time will tell but regardless, I wish him a speedy recovery to a real 100%.

My understanding from what I heard/read when he first broke his leg is that broken bones usually heal back stronger than before the injury.

iunno about all leg injuries but my leg injury sucked...broke it in two places over a year ago and i still get stiffness from it that being said im not a freak of nature athlete but yeah i gained a whole new respect for broken bone injuries. Theyre pretty rough

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

over a year ago? bro, you're in for a long ride. i fractured my pelvis 22 years ago and i'm reminded of it every day.

each case is very different and there are infinite types and severities of breaks and personal differences with healing. steven stamkos broke the same bone around the same time and was playing in the olympics before edmunds was even 75%. like the comments above mention, some breaks may heal but the impacts linger for years. my hand is another example. 13 years later and it still hurts almost daily.

we'll have to wait and see how the next couple weeks go. we are really close to go time. like i've said before, avoiding coming back too soon is very important. he could risk missing the entire year if he (and the staff) aren't patient.
