Hey guys and gals,
I'm headed to Greensboro for Sunday and Monday's ACC media sessions.
If you have any questions you'd like asked, or a topic maybe you feel should be addressed by Beamer, Maddy or Willie, put them here.
I can't guarantee I'll be able to get them in, but I'd like to have a good feel for what our readers want to know.
You can also hit me on Twitter if you want to interact one-on-one.
Not like that.
Maybe for the gals.

Ask Beamer if he knows how many Super Bowl rings the Eagles have. I kid. Ask Beamer if well have a starting QB name soon or if we will have a committee of RBs or a solid #1 RB.
Agree on the QB question. I am curious as to how/when they will begin evaluating. Will they make a choice quickly so that the chosen one will have all of the first team reps heading into the season?
Question for Beamer:
Why has he not convinced Bryan Randall to be his golf partner for the Chick-fil-A Bowl Golf Challenge?
(Randall shot a 68 recently via his instagram)
The people need to know if Beams, Paper Boy, and Big Lu are #TeamCookies #TeamCake or #TeamPie.
don't forget #TeamBurrito
That's a whole other battle yet to be hashed out on here. #TeamBreakfastTacos
Breakfast burrito is clearly the superior burrito
truth. I love me some tacos but you can always take the filling of a taco, add more of it, and put into a larger, more awesome size tortilla. thus burrito > taco every time
...or you could order more tacos.
haha... yeah, like I said, I love me some tacos but when you want to get down to it and decide which is better where taste and ingredients are the same, I give it the first impression test.
I mean just looking at that monster makes me feel full (insert "that's what she said" gif)
The I go to utility test. shit falls out of tacos but burritos are flexible to many a different context.

Ask Willie about what it's like going from new guy to mentor, now that he's in a position to be leading some of the new freshmen WRs.
Ask Beamer (verbatim):
"why the hell would any sane football player choose to play at uva when the WINNINGEST ACTIVE DIV. 1 coach in college football is at VT and is backed by a stable of bad MOFO position coaches that have a proven record of placing players in the NFL AND winning games in front of a rabid fan base in top-notch and ever improving facilities? WTF is up with that?.....and I'll wait for your response."
i'll hang up and listen coach thanks
Beamer: "I don't know for sure, I think it's out of whack. But those coaches over there, they'll really get after you"
Beamer: "One word recruit mail. It'll get after ya."
Ask Jimbo if the FSU team pregame meals will include crab legs this season.
haha, I hear you can get them for cheap down there.
Five Finger Discount for $Free.99
Ask Petrino if it was able to get his Motorcycle License in the state of Kentucky.
Please ask Coach Beamer about the Special Team , is VT going back to using their best players to improve on coverage and returns? Beamer Ball was made by using top players. Thank You.
Ask Beamer if there will be a continued emphasis on not just physical but mental toughness this year. I think that was one of my favorite changes that took place last year (besides the coaching changes). I would love to see that remain a focus. Thanks.
I think the anticipated depth chart at the quarterback position is the no brainer. Others? For Frank:
Which guys who didn't see much of the field last year are guys that have to be productive for the Hokies to have a good season?
Update on the health status of key players (Jarrett, Edmunds, and Shai McKenzie)
Should we expect to see wide receivers more involved in the running game (as we saw in the bowl and in the spring), and what changes in philosophy have you adopted in the running game versus last year's approach.
Who is the number 1 placekicker on day one of fall camp, and what is your comfort level in the group. Also, with such an influx of freshmen and players that were redshirted last season, do you feel that the punt and kickoff coverage teams are better situated for success this season?
For Luther:
How does your role change, if any, with Corey Marshall and Nigel Williams beside you instead of Derrick Hopkins? How does their game differ from Hopkins?
How comfortable are you with the new linebacker grouping (both communication and performance?)
What are some of the matchups that you are looking forward to this season? Who were some of the guards coming back in the ACC that you had tough battles with last season?
For Beamer: will we be seeing any more dance moves like we saw this year and what is your go to locker room dance?
How is Ryan Mallek looking? Does he see us having 3 TE formations this year with a possible of Redman, Kline and Mallek?
Pretty sure Bucky Hodges is higher up on the depth chart than Redman.
Bucky Hodges is higher up than everyone on everything.
What are your plans for any Running Backs who end up out of the top 3 or 4 on the depth chart and don't have a redshirt season available? Does a guy like Chris Mangus focus more on kick returns since it seems like there isn't as much room for him at WR as when you attempted to move him there last fall? If Jereome Wright isn't in the top 4 RBs do you move him to FB and/or let him get a redshirt year?
Also, have you considered avoiding all the QB and RB controversy and just direct snapping to Sam Rogers on every play?
Bucky is back playing QB
You know what...I don't feel too bad about this.
I seriously doubt that.
Ask Beamer if we are going to actually use Joel Caleb? The kid was the #2 athlete in the State behind Eli Harold (LOLUVA) and we haven't got to see him really shine. He Literally picked us over EVERY Major Program, was in the Rivals 100 and was one of our best recruit in that class. I remember people were comparing him to Percy Harvin out of high school
THIS
The problem is that he was projected to be a WR, after never having played the position in high school. He just couldn't make the transition in college because there's so much more that goes into being a successful college player than pure athleticism. You can't get away with just being bigger and faster than everyone else, because everyone else is now big and fast too. I hope he is put in a position to succeed, because he's still young and could really be an impact player. For now, I'd love to see him get a shot at gunner and let him Tweedy his way to playing time until the coaches can find a "natural" position for him.
Ask Frank if he could list the ingredients he likes to put on a hot dog. Why? Because he might actually answer that one and it would probably generate some replay on social media. Do NOT ask him where he buys them, just what he puts on them. We don't need Kroger or Stop In commercials. So, something like - 'Coach Beamer, we all know where you like to buy your hot dogs, but what we'd like to know is - what do you put on your hot dogs?...' As for strategic or philosophical questions about the upcoming season. I mean, seriously - he's not going to name the QB or reveal any wrinkles he might install this season, because he has never ever done that in his life. That's not his style. He'll throw out a cliche or two, and a homily, and then move to the next question. You've got to ask something that doesn't challenge him, but that he might actually think is safe to answer. It would be fun, and I think he'd get a chuckle from it.
I'd imagine that he definitely puts on some his Special Sauce

LOL, that could well be. Hopefully there's something more than that, or instead of that. Regardless I'd take the chance. SMH, Camp Sauce...
So if he is just a Ketchup and Mustard guy is it safe to infer that Brewer is number one on the depth chart?
Relish...it'll get after ya.
Just imagine if he said - 'Salsa & jalapenos with lettuce & guac...' It would freak everyone out.
Mark, do you guys have media credentials?
I'm pretty sure mark works for a newspaper, or atleast I thought I read this.
This website was credentialed to attend the ACC Kickoff. We're there as a legitimate media entity. Mark's also the sports editor for Fauquier Now. He's won several Virginia Press Association awards for the work he's done there.
This is so cool, Joe. Do you know of any other fan sites that have credentials, or is TKP just special and awesome? Aside from being special and awesome in general...
Well, I get what you mean, but I don't think of, or brand, TKP as a fan site. It's an independent website covering Virginia Tech with a top-notch community. We've begun doing more and more original reporting as of late, and that will grow as we gain credentials and media access.
Similar websites are MGoBlog and Eleven Warriors. They've been around much longer than TKP has, so they are more established, but come from similar roots. I communicate and exchange notes with their owners and I hope TKP can follow their trajectory and establish a similar type of success.
Good, you got what I meant. It's not a "fan site," exactly, but it's dedicated to VT, so I should have instead said "sites devoted to one particular team," to contrast that with other journalists who cover football or the ACC in general. It's been fantastic watching this site grow; kudos to you and the team.
i was gonna post some goofy excited gif because i was pumped TKP got media credentials and how the internet is so democratic and it's changing the media and blah blah blah but then Joe was all like 'we're not a fan site' and i was like 'right right right, all business, were super serial around here.'
i'm so happy for the continued success and growth of the site. props to everyone who put in the hard work to make the best site online what it is from the peanut gallery who just kinda sit in the back and make wise cracks and shoot spitballs.
You can't go wrong with Alison Brie
No, no you cannot.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Can't quite grasp it fully, there's something about her that just rubs you the right way. I think it's her love of art.
I'd really like to know his thoughts on the drop in Special Teams play over the last few years. Beamer takes great pride in his special teams and they have been below average.
- Poor coverage on PR and KR
- Missed FGs
- Lack of blocked kicks
- Poor returns last year
I love this. But if half of these questions were actually asked TKP would probably never be allowed back.
Oh! So claim we're from The Sabre and ask #allTheDumbQuestions
This may be better suited for a TKP expert, but does prep/gameplan for Georgia Tech have any similarity to what it would take to handle Braxton Miller, or even our own QB in practice utilizing the veer and IV?
Is it just me or does anyone else not want many of these questions asked and answered in front of other ACC coaches? But I guess Beamer is pretty smart and knows how to handle that. "Dadgummit, we'll just have to get after 'em this year is all I can say."
It might just be me, but after holding season tickets for longer than Frank has been here, I cannot remember a single time that Frank actually revealed any type of offensive, special teams, or defensive strategy in any interview before, during or after a season. Cliches? Yes, in spades. Insightful answers about the team? Still waiting. Those that fearfully fret if Frank will divulge secrets obviously ignore all they know about Frank. Frank will fill air time in a folksy manner, but Frank ain't talkin'...
Too True.
Beamer is the Football equivalent of Dana Carvey's George H.W. Bush, unfortunately NBC has taken down the video I had posted in a previous thread, so I'll have to go with quotes from the transcript instead.
Ask anything like this:

I think it's hi-larious hot the King picks his nose in just about every single interview and postgame wrap.
As good a place as any to share this one...
and not just settling for 10 wins
#TimSettle
"settling"
Did I do it wrong? I listened to his comments live, he said 10 wins wasn't enough, they wanted the championships. I think my spelling is right?
sorry bro, i misread what you wrote.
