Here's hoping for a system that will work for Brewer (or whoever ends up QB1).
But put away the physical skills for a second. I think Brewer will win the job mostly because I think he'll rally the offense as well as anyone on the team. He's a personable guy with a certain confidence to him. He's already bonded well with teammates. And while Loeffler would always take a 6-foot-6, 250-pound quarterback with a big arm to run his offense, he always mentions a different quality that you need first: the intangibles.
That's leadership. That's drive. That's trust. That's dedication (I don't think it was a coincidence that while I was waiting to talk to Trey Edmunds before an offseason team workout the other day that Brewer was the first to arrive at the practice field.) It's why Loeffler doesn't tie his offensive outlook to a certain type of quarterback. They come in all shapes and sizes. If they can play, they can play.
Many have made compelling arguments why Brewer will be QB1, but those two paragraphs are especially telling.

This comment stood out to me. So, I'm not alone. I found it pretty interesring that in his 1st recruiting year SL brought in a Pro Style Ford, a Tebowesque spread RO Durkin, and a Run and Shoot Spread Brewer. I suppose the thinking is he can tweak the O to fit the best QB? I could envision Brewer starting with Durkin having a package in the O. It could work and has worked elsewhere. Plus, IMO, our current O talent could be better utilized in a spread of some type.
Also, have I mentioned I'm excited as all get out to see our TE's perform this season? Multiple TE's on the field in passing situations? If Bucky can meet 50% of the expectations for him he'll have an outstanding season with his 9' 13" frame with a 13.4758' wingspan, supersonic 40, all while blowing outside linebackers out his ass!

I really like this "no [Hokie] Stone left unturned" approach he's taking. We fans will need to still expect some growing pains, but I believe our patience will be rewarded in the long run.

We had plenty of multiple TE formations last year: one of them was throwing the ball and a few were blocking for him, with at least one or two running routes.

Brewer is a natural QB he has been doing it most of his life, things like play fakes looking off the coverage ect. It's natural to him. He has apparently came in and will be the guy or will prove he is the guy. He knows he has 18 months of eligibility left and he looks like he is determined to make the most of it . How good will he be ? We don't know right now but I think we could be in for a good 2 years because we have alot of the pieces in place but need the leader and a smart QB if he turns out to be a special player then we could be real good . Tenacity and drive mean a bunch and he seems by all acounts to have those . We have a bunch of budding stars on offense with the right guy running and destributing the ball we could get pretty good in a short amount of time . The buzz is in the air !!!

I think if VT gets solid QB play out of Brewer (or whoever), it is the best team in the Coastal. Period. The only question would be if Miami pulls a rabbit out of its hat and does the same.

Do we have to call him "Vanilla Vick"? I mean seriously, is he THAT TALENTED? I ain't knockin, and I hope he locks up the spot and lights it up against our opponents, but if anything, Manziel should be called "Vanilla Vick"

True, but 'Johnny Football' trumps 'Vanilla Vick'. That being given, 'Vanilla Vick' is a really catchy nickname, even if it doesn't apply that well in this case.

Basically, he wants the job.

I'm hoping Brewer works out because the other options are tough to think about.

There is that, whole replacing 6 starters on the defense thing... Could be a problem.
Although replacing 6 starters off of that defense might not be such a bad thing for them.
"The tight ends are tantalizing."
That's like saying "Godzilla is Big". You know...B. Hodges....

If he was a Vanilla (Marcus 2005) Vick w/o the off the field stuff he would still be a really great QB for VT
So long as he's not like Brian Vick, I'll be happy.
