You guys probably all remember the update I posted on 2015 Hokies target and 3-star CB Adonis Williamson a few days ago, but his HS coach (Tony Henderson of Indianapolis' Arsenal Technical HS) finally got back to me for an interview, so I figured I'd pass along a few more details that stood out.
The biggest piece of info he passed along is probably that Williamson will be visiting Tech this weekend. Apparently one of the high school's assistant coaches hails from Roanoke, so he's hitching a ride down to Blacksburg with him for his first visit. He plans on returning for an official visit during the season.
Williamson will be taking more visits in the upcoming weeks, and Henderson added that it "wouldn't surprise me if he makes a verbal commitment after one of these trips," which could be good news for Tech. Henderson added that "if he had to pick right now, he'd probably go with Virginia Tech," but schools like Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue and Ohio State have all stepped up their efforts to get him, even if the big programs have yet to offer him.
Henderson said Williamson is looking for "somewhere to get his degree" above all else.
"Maybe the NFL is a possibility for him, but I told him, he's not going to play until he's 65, so you've got to find something that you can do," Henderson said.
Henderson has plenty of experience in this area; he played at Michigan when Scot Loeffler was a quarterback there and played arena football for eight years.
"I think he really wants to be part of a family," Henderson said. "And I told him, feeling like you're always a Hokie or that Frank Beamer is always your head coach is what you want."
He noted that he could see Williamson "doing something behind the scenes in TV or radio, something in communications," even though he's not the most talkative guy.
As a football player, Henderson notes that Williamson is a quick study, but is also athletic enough to play all over the field.
"He mainly plays corner for us, but he's lined up at receiver, safety, outside linebacker," Henderson said. "We blitz him, put him in a two deep or three deep. He's just one of the best cornerbacks in the state or even the whole Midwest."
Williamson doesn't have a set decision date yet, but Henderson doesn't think fans will have to wait too long to find out where he'll be playing.
"He's not waiting until February to decide, that's for sure," he said.

I could see him redshirting, but I still think he'll see the field before he turns 20.
Sounds like his high school coach is a fan of Virginia Tech and Frank Beamer. Seems like he knows how close hokie nation is.
1. Love the recruiting news. We need leggage appreciation capability.
2. Assistant coach from Roanoke giving rides? That's blissful karma kicking in, right there.
3. I got a "note to self" moment when I read: "And I told him, feeling like you're always a Hokie or that Frank Beamer is always your head coach is what you want." Hmmm, I thought...I wonder if there is a way that Whit, innovator/sharp guy that he is, can figure out a way to make Frank's retirement (whenever that is) totally different than any model seen before? We have seen the "coach in waiting" attempt elsewhere with mixed results, but I wonder if there could be a way devised to keep Frank highly active in the program, maybe even still the "face" of the program, a good 4 years after his "official" retirement?
Such a stipulation is in Beamer's contract already. After he retires, he immediately becomes an assistant to the AD for football operations (or something like that) for 8 years.
I would like to see that with Frank and I wouldn't be surprised to see something like that keeping him around awhile. He wouldn't have to put in nearly the time he does now and has.
I know I've said this before, but dammit, we need this guy.
I guess UNC is out! ZING!
If we get this close to landing two Adonisese's and fail, it will sting badly.
Adoniisesees' ***
Adon't know what I would do :(
We need another category for votes. Up for good, down for bad; and groan for really bad puns.
i like to find a gif/meme that fits my opinion sometimes too. Yeah that one was a bit of a stretch but come on its early..
Edit: Pre-Coffee pun
I am going to have to figure out how to post gifs. I really enjoy many of them and wish I could contribute.
I usually just do a Google image search, right click on "copy image URL" go to www.imgur.com and click on "upload photo" do a ctrl+v and the copy the code from the HTML box and paste it here and VOILA! you have a gif posted.
Thanks.
Doesn't even have to be that difficult
Google Image search
Find image and click on it - press 'View Image'
Copy that Image URL
Click the Camera button on TKP when posting
Paste URL in top and bottom text boxes
Done
Thanks. That is pretty simple. I will try to find something more relevant for my next post.
No I think that's relevant-a-plenty. What were we saying again...
you can just paste directly into the text box. no need to hit the camera button
Ehhh... not exactly... There's still HTML tagging that needs to be applied for the image to show up, or else it'll just show a link.
sorry, let me be more clear.
View image -> Inspect Element -> Control C -> Control V
straight into the text box.

Its that EASY!
