Florida State has been hoping to add on a second quarterback commitment to the 2015 recruiting class to join De'Andre Johnson.
A couple four-star signal-callers make up the short list of contenders - Kai Locksley and Deondre Francois. Locksley, from Baltimore, Md, recently narrowed his list to Florida State, Texas and Maryland, with the Seminoles and Longhorns well out in front. On Thursday, he narrowed that list to one picking the Seminoles despite the fact that Francois is scheduled to announce his decision later today.
At this point I have to wonder if Virginia Tech will take a QB in the 2015 class, especially with how many they took in 2014, and how many offers are going out in 2016.

Thanks goodness Josh Sweat is still available.
Agree -- you would think Beamer & Loeffler are feeling pretty good about their cupboard now, and that not taking one this year could make VT a much more attractive offer to 2016 targets.
Another 4 star QB just committed to FSU. Wow. Two in like twenty minutes.
Tag Team!!!!!!!!!
....and that's still 1 less 4* QB than we signed last year....
I ain't worried!
Actually they have another 4* QB committed, for now.
Ahh ok... in that case, it took em long enough to get up to our level
VT signed no 4* last year if you look at composite rankings.
I'd be OK if we didn't take one, to be honest. We got 4 GOOD players in this last class, which should have us solid for the next 5 years or so. At this point, we have the luxury of being extremely picky with QBs, which can allow us to focus on other areas. If we get someone who will contribute, that will be fantastic, but if we don't, by no means is it the end of the world.
Ehhhh. There is room for an upgrade on the QB depth chart.
I really don't think we're being extremely picky with QBs, we certainly aren't swimming in sure fire future stars. We had gone for so long with almost no decent QBs - seems like we only had one good one plus the others being question marks for years now - we've gone that way for so long that now we are only back to 'normal' that we're in great shape. We're soon to see, but we appear to be in good shape, certainly not where we're extremely picky, though. Loeffler is looking for 'his guys', though that is what any OC should be doing anyway. We need to secure a top QB prospect (or more) every single year. Just like we used to with RBs. Not doing so every single year is what got us into the shape of the last couple seasons.
Kai wouldve been a good TE or WR at Tech.
I for one wouldn't be mad if we didn't go hard after any 2015 QBs.
I hope the staff keeps recruiting Locksley since it's clear he doesn't want to go to Maryland and I'd be shocked if FSU signs all 3 of their QBs.
Cosign.
Tangent. Stay in him.
PHRASING!
probably translated from a latin language. On, in and at are all the same word.
I really don't think we need to take one in this class. We have Durkin, Ford, and you can even throw in McMillian. Either both or one of Durkin or Ford are going to redshirt IMO, so taking one in this class isn't neccessary. I'm all for the more talent, the better, but like "krat_t" said above, not taking one this year (2015) will make VT more attractive to potential 2016 QB targets.
Agreed. I'd throw in a caveat, though:
If a guy bleeds orange and maroon and is content to come into a situation where he is going to definitely redshirt and is willing to have maybe his junior or senior year the first year where he'll be the starter, as well as risking holding a clipboard for his entire career, then sure, bring him in. In other words, if the re-embodiment of Juju Clayton loves our school more than any, I'd still love to have him.
Oh I totally agree with everything you just said, (turkey leg awarded now), but I was just saying if we don't land any QB prospect, I wouldn't lose any sleep.
Pretty sure JuJu had it right.
Dude yes! Love this BMS! Thad is the frickin man!
Say what you want about Ju-Ju as a QB, but his was one of the best scholarships VT ever used, as him being on the roster allowed LT3 to redshirt. I shudder to think what this past year would have been like without Thomas.
Fully agree. JuJu was a Hokie through and through. Truly team-first, never any trouble. You could argue that having him on the sidelines made other quarterbacks better. Would love to see him in an athletic department/graduate assistant role.
I would say this is a bigger lose for some other teams. Don't feel like we were really hounding him.
