Unfortunate but not super surprising, with the addition of DJ Reid and Shai Mckenzie, seems like his role on the team was about to evaporate anyway. Hope he does well at his next stop, and obviously many thanks to his contributions the past 2 years.

I never like to see us lose anyone, but best wishes to Chris in finishing a degree and finding more playing time somewhere else. Thanks for your contributions to Hokie Nation, Chris.

Good luck at your next destination Chris. I wish he could have settled in as a punt and kick returner even if he was buried on the depth chart. But I can understand his desire to be a star elsewhere.
On a side note, do you think this decision might have been prompted by Shai being ahead of schedule on rehab?

My guess (and all we'll get is guesses) is that it's more a change in OL blocking. Chris is a definite zone runner (and darn good one at that). Searels has expressed his desire in more straight-ahead/smash mouth running game. The bigger backs are more suited for that.
That said, wish he could've found a role on packages or special teams. He is a very talented athlete.

Echo that. Hate that he won't get his degree from VT, but hope he does well at his next school of choice. Best of luck to him.
