So over the last few weeks, I've been working orientation, as have several friends. Late last week, we got one hell of a surprise. Sophomore tight end Kalvin Cline will be joining the VTCC. Being a DI athlete, he will have a modified schedule, but will be an active member of both organizations. Personally, I think this is great for both the football program and the Corps, and I wanted to share with y'all.

He should be also modeling for both the Corps & the football team. IMO.
That's very cool.
I thought it was joining the "WR Corps"
Maybe its just me, but now that we have a Corps member on the team, we need to break these bad boys back out...
it's just you.
there is zero reason for all those downvotes. opinions on uniforms are opinions.
Even if the orange on the unis are not valid or too orange and not #ALLMAROONEVEYTHING enough.
I loved those unis and those sexy matte black helmets. They looked awesome under the lights.
Probably my 2nd favorite look behind 2003 #allmarooneverything vs. Miami.
The 2003 #allmarooneverything yielded far better results.
And had 0 to do with said results.
Nah they just brought those two cadets to model. Though the one on the right, was the CO of the Highty Tighties in the Fall of 2010 and is now flying helicopters for the Army and the female is flying C-17's for the Air Force!
If my memory is right, I'm pretty certain the female is Eddie Royal's sister
Nah she was the year before that. The one in the pic was a 1st Sgt in 3rd Bat.
Royals sister is actually a special investigator for the AF now!
No, Christina Royal was Regimental CO in fall 2006, and the Boise State game was in 2010.
Well shit now I feel old:(
Though the Corps Museum does have the cool magazine, I think it was a Corps Review copy, maybe it was a real magazine, but has both of them on it and signed!
You feel old? I was there for that PR stunt.
Shoot, I remember going through senior staff interviews and knowing that the right answer for your top five of possible regimental commanders had better include "Cadet Royal".
These are badass IMO, they need to wear these again at least one more time.
Little too much orange for my taste.
Little too much LostTo BoiseStateInThemThenJMUHappened for my taste.
Semper fi and HOKIE HIGH!
Only if he's going Marines.
The more appropriate phrase here would be Ut Prosim.
Blink, blink. Okay that is a bit different.
Have we had any guys do both during Beamer's tenure? Does anyone know?
Not that I can think of. The hour demands for the core drills, classes, might conflict with the normal workout schedules etc. Is he just joining the core or ROTC core? If it is just core he might want the added discipline of study times, etc.
First, it is "Corps" or "VTCC". I understand phones and whatnot, but it takes a couple seconds more to type it in.
Second, there have been a few Cadet athletes but most were scout team or deep in the depth chart. There was one in the 2003-2005 timeframe I believe but I can't remember his name.
After being a civilian forced to live with them in the massive overcrowding of the 90's, I call them what I want.
Yeah...but when you spell it like that, you make yourself appear as someone who burns couches on a regular basis...
Cliff Anders did. He was a longsnapper though. 1999 grad.
Ah. Must have been the guy behind our beloved Shane Beamer on the depth chart
Danny Wheel (defensive end) was in the Corps
Now if he joins the G.E.R.M.A.N. Club, he is guaranteed Homecoming King.
Wow - that's awesome. Who would've thought a last minute football scholarship would turn into such a terrific ambassador for all things Virginia Tech. Proud of him.
hooah
Ooorah

Army all day!
I'm kinda gonna break a guideline here

Nicely done Kalvin.
Maybe we should get uniforms that are painted like the Corps uniforms, kinda like those black tuxedo shirts.
Ugh...none of the Corps uniforms would translate well to football. Let's just stick with the all black or the maroon camo as shout outs.
Dammed sure wouldn't want them to be wool
You mean kinda like this?

Hahah yeah. I thought those kits were dumb but at least they were funny.
It's just like some of the minor league baseball teams that do crazy theme night uniforms.
or minor league hockey (complete with cufflinks!)
I went to a Salem Red Sox game a few years ago and it was "Formal Wear" Night. Got a free Red Sox tux shirt out of the deal.
These are by far my favorite ever theme night uniforms.
There's something eerily familiar about those Durham and Sacramento unis. But I can't quite put my finger on it...

Now you must acquire a taste for... Free Form Jazz!
The Keeper is the groom!
That's one of the funniest and most awesome thing ever. Did they actually play a game in them?
i believe they are going to this season.
I whole-heartedly agree. These are hilarious, awesome, and hilariously awesome.
The look on the face of the guy in the front row, far left, tells me that he hasn't quite bought in on the idea of the uniforms like the rest of the team.
Now we wait for the awful stunt with Womens players in bridesmaids dresses and the Keeper has a huge wedding dress.
That's a great idea! You pitch it to them. I'm just gonna stand waaaaaaay over there. Totally support it though.
It's gonna go great!
Just gonna watch from over here.
It's better acoustics or something.
