Why would anyone go on the Jim Rome show? What a talentless asshole, desperately hunting for a single shred on controversy to hamper on. I was always hoping his show "Jim Rome is Burning" would make a special, where he was physically on fire and in pain. That's an episode with a now witty title that I would watch.

You go on his show because it reaches millions across the nation. Like him or not, when you try to build a brand, you use such outlets. Nobody says Frank has to take Jim to his summer home, but by putting the VT brand out into as many markets as possible, we grow the brand. The same applies to all the other sports talk shows. The more our coaches are on them, the better. Whether Jim Rome is likable to you, you should remember it is about building the brand.

At this point, Jim Rome's crummy CBS sports radio show is doing its branding having Frank Beamer, the head coach at Virginia Tech on. You either listen to a more localized radio show, or nothing at all. I dont know of many any that seek out the Jim Rome Show.

You both bring up good points, but I really do also dislike Rome pretty intensely. He's the epitome of inflammatory journalism, seeking to stir up controversy for the sake of attention. I wish news and entertainment outlets wouldn't have ever taken that route.

Beamer should ask what it is like to get beat up on TV? ;)

Beamer is likely to take an ice bath after the show and call out Bruce Arians to do the same.
So,how did he do? :-)
I heard some of it. Of course he said "as long as I have a good QB, kicker, and my health..."
he should finish that by saying.... I'll be alive

Caveat is - he seems to recognize/like Beamer, and Frank will NEVER give a quote that is damaging.
