Buzz Williams new dancefloor looks nice
looks good BUT until they get some better lighting over the court, it doesn't matter how nice the finish/paint job is. the difference between how our court looks on TV versus other courts is staggering.

That is something Whit understands, but something that Weaver would NEVER accept. One of the first things Whit mentioned is fan experience, so it will come.

Wow, head jumble. I read lighting and was thinking sound. Yes, sound is this year and lighting is next year. Don't know how I got that confused. Good catch. Lighting was originally talked about for this year, they even had a guy here showing how it would all work and stuff. Guess that will roll into next years budget though.

It's tragic we had to waste money because the ACC redesigned their logo. I do like the baselines, though.
The floor is redone about every 2-3 years anyway so really, it's not a huge deal.
Everything is the same from last year, save for the logo. The floor is redone every off season. 2 layers of poly and after about 3-4 years it is stripped down to the wood. The only that got painted this year was the logo and the maroon to make sure it matched up, but it is the same color.
I hope they add a the "traditional" scoreboard which drops from the middle and has the 4 sides of screens and stat lines. Would be so much easier for fans to watch replays or check out the stats during the game, especially if sit on the baseline seats.
That'll never happen. The Cassell roof doesn't have the structural integrity to support that kind of weight.

Actually, Jim Weaver is the one who said that Cassell doesn't have the structural integrity in the roof system for a center scoreboard. That was in response to a public request by Greenberg for one. So, Weaver used that as the excuse to not update. Which means it might or might not be accurate. Like when Weaver said it was impossible to put Hokie Stone inside Lane. Then a couple of years later put Hokie Stone around the entrances. Like when Weaver said the fan base was polled and responded that they preferred 1:00 kickoffs. I could go on, but the point is that it might be entirely possible a central scoreboard could be installed. I would imagine that we might be able to find some architectural people and engineering people 'somewhere' that could determine a way to accomplish that. Now that we have an AD unafraid of spending a few dollars on basketball.
Please stop. Your Weaver bashing is unnecessary, destructive, and simply bad taste. It's one thing to criticize a decision he made, but to call him a liar? That's just not true.
He was just pointing out weaver had a track record of making up excuses.
Don't say never. LED technology is getting lighter and thinner everyday (remember that tube vt your grandma had that weighed 200 lbs...now a 70" weighs 25 lbs.
Also, I don't think there has ever been an engineering study on the stength of the roof trusses...recall them saying they didn't know how to get up there to test it.
