Wow, he really gets up there. When I heard Brewer threw two picks yesterday, I was rather bummed, but if they were both like that... those are picks that won't be happening against most other teams.

Brewer is throwing against the best secondary in the nation. I'd say he is getting good practice. It is almost not fair for the opposing defenses he will face in the games this year. But hey, life is not fair baby bear.

The transition right after the pick looked good for the defense. They immediately switched gears and Kendall would have made a great return if the coaches hadn't blown it dead. One of the things I noticed that was lacking last year was that immediate switch coupled with good blocking. In the heyday of Beamerball, the ST or D players knew how to immediately become offensive players when they got the ball. Last year, a lot of blocks in the back (real or imagined by the refs), holding, etc after hesitation. Kendall made a great initial move and the rest of the guys positioned themselves well to block. Great stuff all around from the D.

I always think about a pick in the ACC championship game against FSU, where the entire defense immediately changed direction. I think it was on the pick-six.
They sold these Tshirts on campus promoting the white pro combats that year. Those jerseys were sweet. Plus we crushed both Maryland and UVA while wearing them in '09.

Well. That answers one half of one question by VTGuitarMan on the"players excited to watch" thread.
On Defense (in no particular order):
1. Ken Ekanem - can he return from injury to live up to the promise he showed in HS? Great athlete, so I hope so.
2. Corey Marshall - can he be a leader on D after getting himself squared away off the field?
3. Dadi Nicholas - can he be an every-down DE for us, consistently playing with the same motor? 4. Kendall Fuller and Brandon Facyson - can they really intercept every ball thrown at them?

Thank you, sir, and HOLY CRAP! That's a Madden Game defense play right there...jump and take that thing right out of the air. That happens in games, you can bet teams don't throw in his direction anymore.

Haha- thats funny- thought this was Tues practice because I poked my head through the fence on Tues for a few minutes and he made the SAME play on a deep sideline thrown... leaping one hand grab. Incredible. Must be doing ti every day in practice.
BTW, I watched for 15 minutes and Brewer took EVERY snap and he looked outstanding. Every throw was in the hands of the receiver and in stride. If nothing there he just tossed it in the fence. Was really good I thought on the deep sideline throws, looking off the safety resetting feet and dropping over the shoulder. One great deeper throw comes to mind that was dropped by Stanford.

From everything I'm hearing, Brewer is a QB who makes catches easy for the WRs and makes the correct reads on throws. At the end of the day, if that's all he's going to give us, its such an improvement over the utter inconsistency we've seen from our passers, even going back to the Tyrod days, that he will seem like one of the best QBs we've ever had. We don't need a QB to bail us out with his legs each and every game, we need a QB that will make the game easier for the rest of the team. With better play from our OL, if Brewer lives up to the hype, we're going to have a very enjoyable next few seasons.

Since it seems every white receiver is described as the next Wes Welker...
If he does everything as effortlessly as he makes that look, he could be the next Darrell Green.

Same here. I saw the "Brewer throws two picks" headline and wasn't happy. Then I saw this video and thought, well at least one of them doesn't count.
Hard to tell from that angle, but it looked like a real nice pass dropping over the corner before Kendall pulled a Fuller.

This should help him immensely.
Those Fullers will get after ya

IMO, these are the freshest white uni combos we have, period. it will never get better than those bad boys.
I really liked the all white combo we wore at Wake Forest in either 05 or 06
I don't know when we wore these, but these were my favorites:
Maryland 09, I was there. We also wore them against UVA that year. I was there as well.

I do like that they allow the interception and the response to play out before blowing it dead. It's good practice for both teams.
Kendall Fuller is the # 1 DB in the country. IMO.
One handed interception at the apex of his jump?

Could you provide a link to the video? Apparently I can't load it in this page.
Here you are sir.

My exact reaction when reading the Brewer comment. bahaha then I scroll down and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!
I was tempted to join.. but I might refrain
Said the only TKPer in the thread with JUGS in the name.
Tease.
Yeah, but you've got jugs in your avatar...so...

Well we have to keep it classy..so I'll behave.

Wait, so you're suggesting Brew Wrangler is going to be a more consistent passer than: MV7, Randall, T-Mobe, LT3???
Looks like our QB situation may be announced here soon then.
What time do they practice?
Good to hear that Williams has dropped some weight
In gif form. Here
Shane says Williams is down past 227 some days.... that was fast.
Sounds like the coaches understand his personality and knew a little public shaming would kick him into high gear with the weight training.
Seeing that interception, just makes me wanna go HAM or do this..
too many party fouls going on here, either that or that guy has a serious drinking problem
God he's good #Thorpe

Thought D.Hall had that all locked up.
